Hello Just got my first real resto project in the post and I had a few questions about 'compatible' parts as some of the ones I'll need seem to be in short supply. It is a runner but the gear box didn't feel right so, of course, I took it to bits. Things I discovered needed replacing... Cog marked as 'Counter Gear' (0445036) in the instructions (missing two teeth on the smaller part of the gear) Number 4 from the D Parts tree (held together by the wheel and magic on one side!) (look like what was used before hexes I guess?) Number 8 from the A parts tree (basically old and tired!) I realise the last one is probably specific to the Fox but I wondered if the first two could be got from parts trees/bags that come with other kits? Ebay has screw bags and B parts a plenty so that's not a problem, and I think I'll get a teambluegroove body as I've seen a post on here which said they were ok for runners. It has a body and wing, but the body is broken at the back so the wing doesn't stay on any more, which is a shame as otherwise I'd strip the paint and re-spray, it's mostly ok. Finally, does anyone know if there a reproduction sticker sets available? That's all for now, I'm sure there will be more! Thanks, Dave

Here in the UK we have services like InterParcel who buy excess capacity from big couriers such as DHL and FedEx and then sell it on. I recently sent some Speedway stuff to Oz and the quote on the DHL site was around £60. Via InterParcel it was £35. Also on eBay UK you can buy services like this, but don't know if the same thing is done in the states. The idea of getting another TC member to ship it at cost is definately worth considering if you can find someone Good luck, hope it's worth the trouble

I'm impressed and grateful! Thanks Terry and Cliff.

Yeah, I feel like a muppet now Suddenly occurred to me to look for Schumacher on ebay.....and I didn't get time to get myself out of looking like an eejit All these years I thought it was a Kyosho. No wonder the wheels have CAT on them and are held on with hex screws and have a funny fitting. Guess it isn't worth as much as I thought

Hello I want to put this up for sale, but I brought it a long time ago and I can't remember if it is an Optima Mid or something different. The body I have for it has Schumacher all over it, so isn't much help. Any ideas on what it is? I have bigger pictures or other angles if this one isn't helpful.

Thanks Andy. Sorry for the delay in replying, forgot about my own thread....

Brilliant WW-Nut, didn't know about them. I think I might get a set for the TA01 and Pumpkin while I'm there....oh and they do Kyosho as well.... Cheers, Dave

Thanks Vagabond/Terry Looks like it should be fairly easy to do the paint, that's a relief. I'll be on the web searching for bearings later! Cheers, Dave

Hello I have an F189 Ferrari which I haven't used in years that I'd like to sell, but I have no idea what it's worth. I'd rather advertise on here and TC than ebay, but I can't even find a recently sold one on ebay to get a rough idea of price. I've included some pictures so you can get an idea of the condition (I never have, but it's been raced in a previous life, you can hardly tell eh....?) I wait valuations with interest and trepidation! Thanks (possibly) in advance, Dave

Hello I've just got my ebay Sonic Fighter through the post. I know it's not the most loved of the Tamiya's but it looked suitably retro and didn't cost me a huge amount. It appears to have had been ball raced on the front wheels, but not at the back anywhere (not dismantled the gear box, so I don't know about that). Front wishbone is in the post as it was advertised with a broken one so I thought I'd get in there early with the bits! Anyway.... The main section of body is unpainted so I wondered what colour it "should" be, although I was thinking of doing it the Midnight Pumpkin blue (what colour is that? My dad painted mine 20 or so years ago!!). The rest of the body is in good condition but the paint job is only so-so. I've tried to read about removal of paint but I can't find a definitive "buy this, it works" answer, so I was thinking of sanding lightly, primer, then paint. Is that wise, or will Bad Things Happenâ„¢? The wheels have been painted gold at some point and that's all a bit cruddy and they're pretty scuffed so is there another model they share the wheels with as I couldn't see a set specifically for the Sonic Fighter on the international tat market...It wouldn't be right to have tatty wheels with decent tyres so of course they're pretty knackered as well. Of course I'd like to have them look box standard, but if not is there a 'standard' tyre pair for front and rear that I could get to drive it on? And finally, what's the ball race set for this model? It'd be nice to get it done all round. Anyway, nice simple one for a Friday evening Thanks in advance, Dave *** Edit *** I've just found front wheel and tire set on ebay, must have been having some sort of.....muppet attack.

Thanks for the replies Rich/Willy Sounds like its been bodged up a bit, gives me something to work on though. Any chance one of you could point me towards a shop link or ebay auction for something you think might be suitable? Thanks for the note about the air cleaner Rich, I had run without but know that I was doing A Bad Thing™! Bank Holiday in the UK tomorrow so I think I'll go find an car park somewhere for a Bash!

No idea on the needles thing, so I've taken a photo. Can you see from this if I have them? Is there a good beginners guide to tuning nitro engines somewhere? I tried with my previous one but it wasn't very scientific! Thanks for the info so far: Sorry about the slightly out of focus picture, used to a DSLR and was using my phone!

Just some more info that might help... I've been reading some more posts and it seems the car originally came with an OS10 engine. I've had a look and the block is stamped with VX12, so I presume this has been swapped at some point. Cheers, Dave

It would be, but I'm a bit over budget after getting back into R/C last month Thanks for the offer (it's a good price) and if it's still about at the end of Sept I'll give it a look. Cheers, Dave

Hello I've brought the car I always wanted from ebay, a Kyosho RS200. It's not my first nitro, that was a Sin Yih Chinese thingy that never really ran properly. Anyway, it runs really nicely but I think it would be nice to get rid of the rubbery pipe that acts as part of the exhaust and replace it with something better looking! Is that possible? Is there a standard fitting or something like that? The only other thing is that it won't run on full throttle until its run for a few minutes, is that normal or does it need adjusting somehow? Thanks in advance! Dave

Hello Trying to re-use as much of my old gear as I can and went to use this tonight but didn't get any joy. I don't have the transmitter that went with it when I brought it and it was crystal-less when I recovered it from the loft, so I assumed it was 27mhz. However, I can't get it to play ball at all, and have a feeling I might be barking up the wrong MHZ tree.... On the top it has the letters as per the title but on the bottom there is: "40M 0036" Is this 40mhz? If so, anyone got spare crystals and a transmitter? Cheers, Dave
