  1. Still in business. Better range of slot cars than RC now though. 308 Hobbies.
  2. Maisto:- http://www.maisto.com/products_detail.asp?...;id=140&pg=
  3. Correct, and yes I see your point - buckets of nasty stuff around children not a good idea....
  4. Ah yes, but I know what's inside there! As for the dishwasher, that's well and truly out of bounds and I would be in serious trouble doing that. A bucket of bleach in the garage is generally tollerable by my better half though! Thanks.
  5. I've heard of people using bleach - just curious if anyone has a guide for how strong the bleach can be and how long to leave them in ? These are nylon (I think) gears out of the gearbox of an old Sand Rover. Thank!
  6. Thanks chaps. That'll be the majority then I suspect - useful tip, thank you.
  7. Don't! Keep it. It's part of the models history. £60 isn't going to make a whole load of difference, but you'll never be able to get it back again. Looks like a great attic find, in fabulous condition. Enjoy!
  8. Hi there, If I click on a username link in a forum thread to get to their "profile" page I can't seem to get to their showroom from there. Is there a shortcut? At the moment I have to go to the main site and search for a users name. Thanks!
  9. Looking good. Good question and I don't know. I've never put carbon tubes onto an SRB - I just saw your front-end and thought a bit of carbon would look good. I did a google search for "carbon tubes" and quite a few UK suppliers came up so doesn't look hard to source in general. Trick will be getting the right size tubing.
  10. Very nice! Did those front suspension parts start off as yellow CRP ones ? Who's the chassis by and who made it ? Some carbon fiber tubing to replace the alloy would be a nice finishing touch....
  11. Yes, and I think that will always be the case.
  12. Agree. From what I'm seeing on eBay, the overall prices are starting to drop quite rapidly now. There are still high priced vintage pieces on there, but they're not selling. In all aspects of the economy now is a good time to be a buyer.
  13. Apparently heat makes a difference. I read somewhere on here recently that if you have this in a cold garage it can slow down the process.
  14. I found this if it helps:- http://www.modeldisplaycases.co.uk/plist3.html The Mahagony bases are not that great (bit old fashioned). Love the carbon idea. The people above might be willing to just sell the tops (2mm glass - the last fish tank I had was at least 4mm unnecessarily thick and heavy). I see they use aluminium corners to cover over the sealant lines.
  15. "We" is a niche market...... they want to sell 100's of 1,000's.
  16. Thanks Kev. Not on mine there isn't..... I thought it was probably missing a part - the design didn't make sense without it. Annoying as it's mint in all other respects. Guess it'll look fine on the shelf where it doesn't matter, but it's annoying knowing that it's incomplete.
  17. Hi, I've got some NIP tires (Sand Rover - 25 years old at least). Whilst they're immaculate in condition, they have a strange surface to them which resembles wax. I can scrape it off with a fingernail but don't want to damage the tires. I've seen this before with other old tires. My best guess is this is 25 year old mould-release agent that's gone a bit off with age. Is there an appropriate chemical or product for removing it gently? Thanks....
  18. Hi there, I wonder if anyone can tell me what's wrong with my Sand Rover MSC. No camera handy here at the moment, but basically the moving arm that runs across the resistance wire has a lot of play where it mounts to the main ESC chassis. Almost like it's missing a bushing or something. Not sure if this is standard or if it's missing a part. Any thoughts?
  19. It's a cut-and-shut mashup between a Superchamp and an SRB. Rear-end looks mostly SRB (no Superchamp damper system). Chassis is definitely Superchamp. Front end could be either.
  20. Ah, scrub that - just found another member here with one that has already uploaded pics of the instructions:- http://www.tamiyaclub.com/pictureframe.asp...006135911_3.jpg It's an AP35 apparently
  21. Hi there, I dug up my old Acoms ESC (no markings, but I think it was their first ever one - in cheap black plastic with three blue relays on it and a single transistor that was mounted on the old SRB resistor cage). I can't find the instructions for it - does anyone have, or know where I can get a copy? It has a pot in there (I found the original plastic tool for tweaking it - couldn't believe my luck in finding that!) and I can't remember what it does. ESC is not in working condition, but it doesn't look complex and I'm sure I could get it fixed. Thanks!
  22. The poor mans method back in the 80's was two Zener (I think) diodes wired in series from the +ve on the mechanical speed controller. So if you have 2 diodes coming from the MSC to power the receiver, that's what those are (you won't see them in the manual).
  23. Thanks for the ideas. Hard-wiring not an option - I like to mess around with different motors a lot so I need quick interchange without a soldering iron I'll run with the Deans....
  24. I need to shorten some ESC wires and I don't have any bullet connectors handy. I have a bucket full of Deans connectors. Any reason not to use them for the motor wiring instead of bullets? I can't think of one (other than the obvious don't be stupid and plug the battery direct into the motor or ESC by mistake).
  25. No! You can't do that, your original painted driver is part of that cars soul. I also vote you leave it as is.... You might want to put ballraces in it this time though - I see it still has the bushes (keep the original bushes though).
