  1. I tried some wet sanding with 2000 grit paper mixed with a little soap. It really helped take down the high edges and some over spray, but since I have caveman-like dexterity I really rubbed down some edges. I'm gonna touch-up, lightly wet sand again. Then a several coats of clear, and ill hit with some tamiya polishing compound and wax. I'm not going for perfection, I want good enough to get dirty.
  2. Well, I drank a Redbull so that made me a little over ambitious. Now, I dont know what to think lol
  3. The colors are Tamiya British green and the light is tamiya light green pearl (??). My plan is to lay down some tape over the light green in stripes, then I was going to paint over the rest of the light green with Tamiya Racing white. Kinda going for a vintage-ish scheme. I like the racing white because it off white. Kinda like an old ****idaire fridge But I kinda think it looks good as-is. There's still a lot of paint work to do. Which brings me to my next question. Do you typically wet sand or polish before your clear coat? I usually do it afterwards but there seems to be a lot of oarnge peel.
  4. So, now I need painting advice. Here's where I am at:
  5. Tamiyausa has them. I have bought a ton things from them lately. Free shipping if you spend $50.
  6. Thanks! I know it's slow going but it's getting there
  7. Got this in the mail today. Got it for a.great price considering most places are selling it for $375 or more.
  8. Speaking of expensive, i thought building this dolly from parts was going to be cheap, or at least cheaper than one of those Lesu units. I was wrong
  9. Thanks!! Stull much cheaper than therapy
  10. I finally looked at this thread on my computer rather than my phone. I didn't realize my photos were such poor quality, I apologize.
  11. Thank you, good to know! I do see now they're pretty tall and I have never actually seen raised intakes in person (not sure its a thing in the states). I have enough spare parts to make a Grand Hauler, so I think I'll use these intakes for that. I have been thinking about building a road train, but Utah style . But, i will for sure shorten them. Luckily, the intake is glued to an O ring from the shocks I used a little Tamiya grease so I can just pop them out if needed.
  12. I made some "custom" high intake thingies, like Australian road trains. Its just the stock air cleaner with the King Hauler exhaust added. The inake part is from a cheap 1/10 snorkel set I got off Amazon for very little. So, not a Tamiya part and besides not sure it suits the look of the vehicle anyway. I think I'll go with Grand Hauler intakes. The exhaust stacks are from an Aeromax as are the cuved tips. I think I'll use them.
  13. For the cab I followed the hobby concepts tutorial on cutting it down and modifying it to a day cab. Still need to fill and sand ugh
  14. You can see i went with the 30mm(?) Wide front wheels with out the lugnut ring. I think they look really close to the wheels I see on dump trucks around here. I had to move the gas tank up since the brackets could not be used with the sub frame of the bed. This works though as I seem to remember seeing trucks like this before.
  15. So, I took a little much needed vacation and now can finally get back to work on the truckster in between homework and...more homework 🙃 Anyway, to the truck. You can really see my noobness come through with miss aligned holes and poorly measured cuts. Things are mocking right up though. Gotta say, I really like the scale hub nuts Tamiya makes, they make the stock wheels look so much better. I didn't even know they existed.
  16. Thank you! I hope to reach the guru level one day
  17. Added more rubber boots to the drive shaft. The standard rear chassis cross member will not fit with sub chassis for the dump bed. Instead I added Knight Hauler rear beam and Aeromax tail lights.
  18. The tires are RC4WD Lorider semi tires. I will switch them over to Buggy Champ/FAV front tries to keep with the all-Tamiya theme.
  19. I decided to make a lift axle. I used some extra shocks with springs in them to make the axle steer and self-center. I will drill more holes to so the the axle can be in up or down position. I thought about making it movable through a cantilever set up, maybe later.
