  1. I got a Durga!! I was split at the end between the durga and the hotshot and was leaving all kind of hints..(internet browser favorite bookmarks etc..) At first i was kind of dispointaed(my heart was saying hotshot while my brain was leaning towads the durga) Well at the end my wife made the decision for me and got me the Durga I think she made the best choice very happy Merry Christmas to all fellow TC members!
  2. My heart is set on the HS...
  3. But even with the sintered rotor wil it thermal!? i wonder...
  4. I have the original ss5800..so i can pretty much forget about getting the HS or The boomerang i must be able to use my brushless setup
  5. Do you gentlemen think that the Novak SS5800 will always thermal in the hotshot?(because i cant use a small enough pinion)
  6. Well here it goes About 2 years ago (corresponding with the re-re of HotShot) a flame was rekindled!! For the last 2 years i was sure that i wanted the HS thinking that i would build it up run it gently, and then look at it in admiration once its on a shelf! Now being a family man i don’t have alot of neither time nor money! The hotshot was #1 on my list until i started asking TC members and started getting a more lucid picture of the buggy...the rosie eyeglasses have fallen and i am looking elsewhere! The reasons that i abandoned the HS -Limited suspension -I already own a Novak SS5800 which may be to powerful for the HS and will be difficult to gear. So being a Tamiya fan i naturally looked at The Durga! But once i add the minimum hop-ups like slipper and maybe alu. shocks i am close to the price of the ASSOCIATED B44! So now i am looking at the B44! But is it too much!? So here i am now Have i gone too far? Maybe i should look at others makes? Catarestics the vehicle must have 4WD Enough suspension travel for bashing around Preferably kit based Buggies are preferred Things i don’t like Truggies! stadium trucks and the like 2WD The vehicle will mostly be used to bash around be able to take the ss5800 and if possible look good on the shelf! Told you i was on the brink of insanity
  7. Thanks for all the input guys! As usual TC members come through with valuable input:)
  8. I am full of questions today aren't i? I was just wondering if buggies like trf511 and durga which are primarily racing buggies and as such are meant to run on smooth tracks and huge jumps would fair well in rocky type terrain? Let me explain my theory, these cars have their suspension adjusted so it doesn't bottom out on huge jumps so that means the shock will have alot of "packing". Now if the terrain is littered with lots of rocks would that type suspension be any good?
  9. Just wondering if the belt drive transmission is sealed well enough for dusty backyard running?
  10. Wow thats one of the nicest hotshot i have ever seen! yes thats exactly what i was talking about! A may be getting a re-re Hs, mind if another all black HS joined the club?
  11. Cant seem to find any on tc!
  12. Jhonny Retro or Hotshot DK Could anyone please do a mini track test review!! Theres not alot of MODERN comparative reviews of the re-re hotshot.
  13. I built my friends avante back in 1988 and helped him troubleshooted, other then that as i said before, i owned an Egress for a long time. The weak points that i noticed with my Egress -The front hub carrier were quite fragile. -The rear dogbones would frequently fall.
  14. So it always comes down to the heart vs the mind The thundershot is discontinued The firedragon is too ugly(but maybe the best basher setup) Mmmm after reading all of your replies maybe a re-re hotshot with the HP upgrade maybe be the wisest choice...(vinatge and good handling)
  15. Thank you very much for the detailed reply 94eg! Just one more question... The re-re hotshot is also high on my list but because of budget constraints i can only buy one car. The buggy will be run in very rocky terrain with lots of uphills Do you gentlemen think that is type of terrain is more suited for the hotshot? I get the feeling that the hotshot is built more like a tank with lots of suspension travel for real off-roading when compared to the avante,is it a false impression? (the avante will come with lots of spare parts)
