  1. If you remember back when the Black Porsche was re-released, I was the first member to post honest to god real deal quality photos of the kit and contents. Had to list the kit under "misc", because the club had no category yet. When I posted the photos, there were several kits already on the site from other club members, but mysteriously, all those kits only showed one photo of the front of the box. In fact, the site administrators borrowed one of my photos for the main page when the kit got it's own listing on the site. This was due to the lack of an official Tamiya photo. If you put up a new slot for the unreleased SS rere, I guarantee you would immediately have a bucketload of "Box" photos. For some people that is good enough. For me, I want to see the goods........
  2. I get the feeling you have just returned from a far off planet . Welcome back by the way. I can still remember penny candy, 5 cent candy bars, and gas at 25 cents a gallon. I was born in '61, so I'm not that old. When I was a kid, I loved Tamiya kits, but they cost more than anything else at the time. The gist of my post is this; You find me gas at 25 cents a gallon, and I'll find you a Scorcher for what it went for new........
  3. From the expression on his face, it's probably more like a Tamiya fishnet G-String!
  4. Welcome to TC! Now quickly hide your wallet...............
  5. I think the reception here on TC is a joke. If someone (well informed) had let it be known a year ago, that Tamiya was going to build proper old school SRB's again, everyone here would have pee'd their pants in anticipation. Now that it has happened, everyone wants to sniffle over wheel arches and rear view mirrors! The new Scorcher is everything it should be. A faithful RECREATION of Tamiya's most popular kit EVER! Same as the recent Black Porsche tribute, a very respectful TRIBUTE. Ditto to the Buggy Champ. Buy 2 and have fun. Leave the wet napkins for Tamiya's competition who are behind the nostolgia curve. Life is good......................
  6. How can you have a poll for a kit that no one in this club has actually seen? Let's have a poll for the most beautiful photoshop edited, airbrush enhanced, overhyped glam model on the cover of some fantasy fashion magazine? C'mon, has anyone really seen the new Scorcher? No..... Is the kit going to be a sucess for Tamiya? badword yes! Let everyone in the club get their hands on one (we are all going to buy several) and then have a truly subjective poll.
  7. My user name comes from my 1972 Oldsmobile 442 W-30. The last year for the factory blueprinted 455 ci Ram Air Muscle Car. In the vin in 1972, the W-30 engine code was "x". Hence the name 442xcar. Great car from the early 70's. Gets 8 mpg city, and that drops to 6 mpg highway with the highest octane premium fuel I can find. My avatar is a nib 58001 kit. I love anything with a pan chassis and no suspension. Currently working on putting a vintage Tamiya 1/12 Lola Mk3B body on a 58005 chassis. Preliminary test fit shows this car is going to be incredible. Going to paint it red with Denny Hulme decals. Life is good!
  8. The Black Porsche that started this thread was a Japanese kit #01016. I'm not aware of a higher number...... If that kit was the (last?) highest serial number, the total production run was far less than expected.....
  9. Black Porsche kits are now being shown as "Temporarily Unavailable" on the TH site. With a limited run of just over 1000 kits and no new shipments, I guess the kit becomes a no-brainer for collectors...................
  10. Tony, The White body came in the very first kits made for the Japanese market. The Green body first showed up in export kits. As for collectability, You can get a new white body right now in any 934 static display kit. Green bodies have not been produced since the 1970's. Since value is usually determined by supply and demand, a green body will always cost a premium over it's white brother. There was also a spare bodyset molded in red that is highly collected now. Lastly, any vintage black body parts from an original Black Porsche are beyond collectable.....
  11. I sent a ringer after one of the factory drones..... All it took was a well endowed Blond and a large bottle of Saki. I got a whole back pocket full of Top Secret Tamiya poop........
  12. All BC production shifted to the new BC/SS. Tamiya will announce the new Scorcher this month.
  13. All TTG GT-01 kits are out of production. When Tamiya released the Black Porsche, they cleared the shelves of parts (same thing they did with the original 58001 chassis back in 1978). There have been no new GT-01 kits shipped from Tamiya since late May. Some people are hoping that their back orders get filled, but they won't. Cheers, Tim D.
  14. Yep..... And then it will post "Early October", and then "Late October", Blah, Blah, Blah............
  15. The re-issue SS will be introduced in October (30th Anniversary). That is the reason BC inventory has dried up. All production shifted to the new kit. Buggy fans will be in Scorcher Heaven and we can once again build and run without fear of finding parts. Preliminary poop has the new kit labeled as the Buggy Champ Sand Scorcher..................
  16. I decided a while back that it means orders are still going in but no kits are coming out. As far as I can tell, ALL TTG-GT-01 kits are officially out of production.................
  17. Just wondering if anyone has received a new kit since June? Another thought concerns opinions on if we have seen the entire run of Black Porsches from Tamiya?
  18. My guess is that Tamiya kept that one?
  19. The slide in prices is quite noticable. Actually, it's SRB heaven with the market flooded with anything you could want. I've noticed a quiet flood of SS stuff lately, and prices are way down. Last week on fleabay a MIB black bumper SS went for $1800.00. The same thing happened a while back with original Black Porsche's. Insiders sold ahead of the tribute release anouncement. All my money is down for a late 2009 rere SS.......
  20. A separate thread would work Steve, if people would post. There are several uber collectors who will never tell how many, or what serial numbers they have. Then there is the million dollar question; "Who has #911 and 934? Hmmmmmm...........
  21. Steve, The best registry right now is the Black Porsche showroom. Most kits posted show or state the serial number
  22. Sad to say, I've been chasing the monkey with Tower since May. Gave up on them when they gave me the "maybe in early September" line. I was able to score a couple of low number kits in the open market for prices very close to Tower's price (US imports). Might be all that we see of Black Porsche (part 2)....
  23. Bag or no bag. Reguardless of price. I think Oshika has shipped all that we will get.................
