  1. They are just called 'camouflage spray paints' btw Rich
  2. They arent with the car paints but they are close. they are absolute or ultra matt finish. I have been in 2 stores now and both times it has been on the opposite aisle with all the silly colour enamel spray paints (such as 'warehouse orange'). Good call about using the satin black for backing lexan shells! Thanks very much for that! Cheers Rich
  3. Where did you get the shock mounts from? And how much did they cost? My hornet needs a new chassis because i abit broke the front susp tower at the bmx track! Cheers Rich
  4. Just been to Halfords for paint and found that they do cammo colours - green brown and khaki. £7.99 for 300ml. I got the green for my lunchbox refresh project. Just wanted to let you all know because it was news to me!:-) Rich
  5. Great vid. I enjoyed that. Seems to run really well on that terain. Rich
  6. The looks are the biggest draw for me and always have been. I really hope that the hotshot becomes my most used runner. I have several tamiyas and love them all to bits, to the point that i cant bring myself to run them! Ballraces find their way into all my cars; runners or not. I always hated plastic bushes as a kid but couldnt afford the bearings. good call about the under guard. I like not scratching the chassis! I sooo want a hotshot (i sound like a spoilt kid lol) Rich
  7. Hi. I am thinking hotshots alot lately (especially after tamiya monkeys thread). Are there any mods worth making during the build (bearings are a given lol ! ) Really hope to have one soon! Cheers Rich
  8. Maybe a beetle shell would look good but i think mounts wil need to be altered. the frog body will fit with the corect mounts. Beetle is the way i would go though.
  9. This thread makes me want one of these. How is the build ? Interesting?
  10. I sprayed mine in the kitchen under the extractor fan (with the filter and screens removed). Covered the worktop and floor with some old dust sheets and clipped them up to the hood. keep all nearby exposed surfaces wet so spray dust wont stick. mrs wasnt ever so pleased but all was good. Rich
  11. I have the same issues! I can go months without touching the cars but then I feel guilty (especially if they are still dirty from their last use!!) and start to tinkering with them again. Just gone through the lull phase again actually, but now the weather has turned and I want to stay indoors I decided to get to the cars and they all need work so I started by stripping and cleaning one and will carry on with the others as and when. My eldest 2 kids interest in them has wained somewhat so I too don't really drive them much anymore either (until the 2nd wave of Mini Me's comes to transmitter holding age!!) If you are bored, just put the cars away for a while. You will regret selling them and you can come back to them when the interest rekindles (which it will!) Rich
  12. What a great thread! I really wish I still had my old cars from a similar era to yours! Well done! You and your son are going to make great memories for both of you! PRICELESS!
  13. That looks like fun! I got a Blackfoot Extreme for my son. Its a hoot. Wish I lived closer to a beach. Only ever managed to get an RC on a beach once. Every time I go, there is never room in the car for my RC's
  14. Hello all! I have never used anything but Tamiya connectors before but having brought my 10yr old son a Slash for Christmas, I have decided to move with the times and standardise all the connectors across the board with Deans (because I have rad that they are the best type to use!!). Once he has got used to the Slash, I think Lipo's will be on the cards too hence my decision to upgrade my connectors. I have found these on the bay: LINK REMOVED Can anyone please tell me if they are any good or not? Thanks in advance! Rich
  15. Can't believe these things-they seem too good to be true!!!!! Is the standard radio equipment any good? Thinking of getting one for my 9yr old (and maybe one for me too!!) Cheers, Rich
  16. I would love to get my hands on an FAV! I have only ever seen one in the flesh and it belonged to a kid at scchool about the same time as I had my Brat. It was one of the models I had completely forgotten about until it was rere'd. I would also like a Buggy Champ and a 3spd. And a Frog. And a Sand Scorcher. And a Grasshopper! Every kit I buy I say "I am going to cherish this build and take my time". What actually happens is I open the box, sniff the tyres and think "Hmmm, I will just fit these tyres to the rims, that will save some room in the box", then before I know it, it is 3am and I have a new model sitting on the table in front of me and it is almost time to go to work! It would be like heaven being able to go into the great Modelsport. I remember as a kid being dragged around Derby on a saturday afternoon by my parents. The only positive about it was being allowed to go upstairs in Golden Gains where the RC was and oggle the struff on the shelves! It was a fabulous, cave like store , stacked floor to ceiling with goodies (well it was as I remember it anyways), and the source of most of my childhood aspirations!! My boys are aged 9 and 11 and the internet is as close as they can get to the feelings I had in Golden Gains. My youngest in particular spends hours on the Modelsport website and Youtube, dreaming about what kit he would like next! They currently have a Madbull and a Blackfoot extreme. Christmas is looking like an expensive business this year cheers, Rich
  17. Subaru Brat. Absolutely no doubt about it! It was the first RC I had as a kid and I loved it to bits but despite that beat it relentlessly until it was beyond economic repair! The rere brat is what got me back into the hobby but I now have rere's of the following: Hornet Lunchbox Midnight Pumpkin They all give me a real buzz even now! The hornet and Lunchbox have both had a fairly hard time as my 2 boys have cut their Tamiya teeth on them. Both need shells and chassis refurbs The Pumpkin is a chrome version and it has only been run on carpet indoors. I cannot bring myself to take it out and run the risk of scratching it! I would love to buy a new kit every weekend!! Rich
  18. This is by far the best RC forum but it is bad bad bad for making you want want want!! It should be banned!LOL! Rich PS - great looking lunchbox! Bet the paint doesn't stay that nice for long though!
  19. I have several of their 3300 packs and have found them excellent. I don't race or anything - just run various cars with my kids. Always get good run times etc. I am pleased with them and free delivery too!! Cheers, Rich
  20. I am leaving it as is. It is just the pics that make the wheel base look a bit out. If I compress the suspension to what would be 'standard' height, the wheels sit smack in the middle of the arches - just as with lifted 1:1 trucks (well certainly my discoveries and defenders from days gone). Been having a little play in the garden after the rain! Very impressed but seeing why people remove the 'brick' from the front. Mine is definately coming off! Also going to shave the lugs off the back end of the chassis to allow the body to sit lower, and alter the rear shock mounts to give the chassis a little lift. May order the Junfac under body kit or have a stab at making my own. Cheers, Rich
  21. Same story here! I think it's better the second time around!! I spent last night in the back garden setting up an off road trail around the flower beds and with off cuts of decking as obstacles! The kids were in bed so I was all by myself with no "can I have a go yet, Dad" interuptions! Cheers, Rich
  22. Does look a bit odd in the pictures but the next position back for the rear suspension mounts is 10mm back and that looked very strange! With the body mounted level on the chassis, the wheels are much more centred than they look in the picture. I am more than happy with it!
  23. Here is my CC01 so far. Got to sort the holes in the bonnet now i have been enlightened about velcro!
  24. Hmmm didn't think of that ! Obvious really!! Thankyou for the reply Rich
