which truck to get? really cannot decide....
HomerJHandley replied to Maximus Desimus's topic in General discussions
I have a Bush Devil, basically a slightly more 'feminine' blackfoot (pink wheels!) as my basher. it is quite rapid (i have a stock modified motor from circa 1990, ESC and 4300Mah NIMH's) and seems quite tough. The body gets battered (no wheelie bar so the shell takes the brunt and splits in 2!) and the worst that has happened was i sheared the main spur inside the gearbox. a new set of gears/pinion and the car runs quick and quite quiet, which is good for a model that is probably 10+ years old. it jumps really well (off the local skateboard ramp gets a good height). the only mods i have are black tamiya shocks (cant remember if they were anything special or not) as it came without any and a lexan body. the shocks are quite 'soft' so the car does have quite noticeable movement when pulling away but it seems to prefer that setup than harder shocks which made the car uncontrollable. The steering is a bit rubbish though, but this is a known problem for the bush devil. oh and if you are wondering, dont paint a lexan shell with hardbody paint, it flakes, but a backing of white PS makes it look slightly better -
I need your address to send it and it wasn't on the paypal information. thanks

took the clod for a snow run, spent 5 minutes emptying its chassis afterwards from snow!

dont see model shops like that around anymore..

here is Modelsport's next delivery http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDXWE0a_Sbs and for the question, some E-Commerce sites may not have this feature, and some retailers may use stock direct from the distributor (cant recall this name), so they don't have the information to tell you , or don't want to.

What is your 1st RC thought when heavy Snow is forcast?

Well i did prepare the clod, and promptly drove straight into an immovable post...Doh. Have to re-glue the body together again now! -
i have a used/cheap and broken black one if it is of any use. the front (where the bumper attaches) is broken and cracked, i will get a pic later and post up if you are interested. Apart form this it is fine, and i would think that the right body would cove it anyhow. How cheap is 'cheap'

looks great and good scale, ideal for backyard and small space running..

bashing really. i have a 'no limit' esc (ripmax i think) which would probably go into the clod, and have a bush devil with a 'stock modified' (think 27t with advanced timing) and a traxxas bandit 2wd with 19t motor that gets slated, so nothing major. the bush devil has loads of power, but would like to get a quick motor (10-15t) for sillyness, and the traxxas seems quick enough with the 19t in it.

sorry for the vague title, i have searched the forum but cant seem to find the threads relating to people who have bought these. all i can recall is that they are something like $13, are identical to a higher priced unit and people here have them. so if anyone has any idea what i am on about, please help thanks

seem reasonable once stuff is on, but i have screwed it to the wall at the top (and is solid now the floor feet are hollow (with a hole in) and each corner pole is hollow, but it probably wouldnt be too difficult to bung the hole and fill it with something (sand?) so it has heavy feet, as the problem with plastic shelving like this is that it is quite light so will move. Or maybe a small freezer bag (or double bagged for less risk of splitting) filled with something and then stuffed in the feet may also work to add ballast to the base. But generally, anything this height either gets physically attached at the top to a wall, or has something on the front feet so that it is leaning slightly towards the wall, so if it was to fall, the back would need to be lifted by a small amount before it could become unbalanced.

All, just a heads up, B&Q have a plastic 4 tier shelf for just shy of £15, and it is the ideal size for 1:10 models, which is also handy Probably not wife/girlfriend friendly in the house but seems quite steady and large enough to hold most models (25kg per shelf) and wide enough. The clod does stick over the edge by about 3/5 of a tyre but TBH the clod will probably be too large for most things where a std 1:10 fits nicely Not much more to say really Height (mm): 1310 Length (mm): 610 Width (mm): 300 http://www.diy.com/n...?skuId=10187214

The "Postman Brought Me" Thread
HomerJHandley replied to backtomyroots's topic in General discussions
Novak, 5512, 12 Gauge Super Flex Silicone Wire 3 Color & 3ft, so plenty of spare now, just under a week from the US and about £11, so quite good for what i need. A new spur and pinion for my Bandit and not quite a postie but got a 4 tier small plastic shelf from B&Q, will replace a small 2 tier wood shelf in the cellar perfectly, more space and may move models onto it which will free up other shelfs for other bits! -

Need help in the horsepower wars

it seems quite quick -
roll blue tac on it, this may gather the remaining stickyness?

i have currently the Traxxas bandit (early version), bought for £25, spent recently about £20 on to get some new front wishbones and bits, fitted these, rebuilt the box with ballraces and it still sounded rough, so off to ebay it goes.... outside earlier with it to test it and it worked really well (a bit noisy though!), quite a turn of speed, when it gets to it with the 19 turn motor that it came with, and on the local skatepark ramp gets quite a reasonable height and distance, shame about the grass behind is too high and it grounds (the bush devil works great here) so just an annoying grrr, i could sell and buy a tamiya, but this owes me nothing much, seems quite quick, and also am not afraid if it decides to do any damage. just needs a new pinion and slipper clutch and should be like new (ish!) so do you have a model that just refuses to die

Electronic speed controller vs mechanical
HomerJHandley replied to BigSteve's topic in General discussions
control : better speed regulation, the MSC has fast and faster reliability : the msc can stick and if the battery power drops means the msc can stick on 'go', and wont stop until it hits something. you also get better runtimes also with ESC you can take it from car to car, so do you need 3? i have velcro in each vehicle so a 2 minute job to unplug and fit in another car...unless you intend to run more than one at once, a consideration!
