  1. Was a good game & a well deserved win for the Crows. It's allright though the Eagles will be "flying high" when the real season starts
  2. Thanks matman, I found the chassis on thE bay, no secret just patience The hard part is finding the right part for the right price at the right time Looking like I might have to buy a complete car for a decent set if rims though, oh well then I'll have a runner too
  3. Nice to see a build thread allready I'll be restoring an original soon so it will nice to see the differences. Looking forward to seeing progress on this.
  4. Great to see all the different work spaces & what we can do with the space we have Since losing my house few years ago I've been living at mum's, so most of my stuff is in storage & I limited to what I can fit in 1 room(& a small garden shed). My work bench is a portable table & the back of a block mounted poster on my bed with tools, parts & computer just a chair swivel away. The wall behind me looks like this. I'll be barracking for the Eagles tonight
  5. Had some Fox parts & a ***** body arrive this week Still more to come still more to find
  6. This, I recently went to my LHS & asked for some Hornet rims, the guy behind the counter said he would have to order them in I pointed to some rims behind the counter labelled sand scorcher & he told me they would not fit I bought them anyway Also I hate it when I pay top dollar for a sought after part/car on thE bay only to see the same sell for half that price a week later.
  7. Sorry mate, I do have a spare original MB nose cone your welcome to have but the spotlight mounts are broken off so won't be much use to you.
  8. Nice find on the spotlight bar, sorry can't help with the spotty I just recently sold my spares. The G parts from an original Blackfoot are the same as the Monster Beetle. Unsure of the other BF generations because I don't have them, but 1 thing to watch out for is on the original spotties the middle one has a slightly smaller mount, so if your looking for just 1(& if your trying to stay original) you might need to be a bit more specific in your search. If your not worried about originality other ones will fit but will have a staggered look. Did you find a nosecone or are you going to mod one?
  9. RR spotties are different to MB spotties, they are smaller & the screw goes vertically into the bottom of the spotty. Where as the screw is mounted horizontally to the spotty on the MB. You could probably make them fit with some mod's, but they will not be a direct fit. If you're looking for some replacement Monster Beetle/Blackfoot spotties & can't find any originals the re-re Midnight Pumpkin spotties have the same mounts & are a direct fit.(spot light is smaller though) would post some pics to show the differences but I can't at the moment until TC Photo's is back up & running.
  10. Sounds like you got some good deals especially with that Super Champ/Scorcher, shows there are still some good deals around to be had if you look hard enough.
  11. One trick I have done in the past is to run some tape around the inside of the tyres before mounting them, this will stop them balooning so much.

    ORV parts

    sold to matman, thanks mate
  13. 2x Monster Beetle 2x Blackfoot 2x Frog 2x Grasshopper 2x Hornet 2x Kingcab Funny how they seem to multiply I never aimed to get 2 of anything, but usually end up with runner & shelfer

    ORV parts

After restoring 2 Frog's, 2 Monster Beetle's, 2 Blackfoot's, a Brat & a Mud blaster I have a heap of parts left over (new & used) I kept a few bits to keep my runner MB going but have no use for the rest, so time to pass them on to someone who may need them. Parts in the 3rd pic are new, parts in the top 2 pics are used. feel free to make me an offer I'm not looking for alot, but I'd rather sell the lot then a few parts here & there. would be open to trades aswell. WHY. Muz.
  15. People have come up with various ways to reattach the spotlight bar, just search the forums & showrooms you should find a few different ways. SS nose cone deos not have the mounts, they have holes for indicators. with the battery it depends if you are using the original msc or an esc, if your'e planning on running it often I would use an esc. I run my Monster beetle with a 15t brushed motor, a no limit esc & 2s lipo.
  16. I think for the spotlight bar & because it's a parts tree that's unique to the Monster beetle.
  17. The spotlight bar is part E5 on the E parts tree the spotlights are on the G parts tree. They are screwed on by two small mounts on the bottom of the original MB nose cone. This is usually the first part to break on a runner, check your original shell if the mounts aren't there you will see where they snapped off. These parts show up on Ebay from time to time but are becoming scarce these days.
  18. The guards are the same on all the Tamiya beetle bodies except for the original Sand Scorcher which has more curve & a raised bead around the edge. other differences are the tail lights, SS original & re-re have clear lenses. SS & re-re Blitzer have rear view mirrors, Original SS also has seperate door handles. Body mount holes same for the Blitzer & Monster beetle different on the SS Nose cone is different, Blitzer is longer, SS has holes to mount indicators, MB has loops on the bottom to mount the spotlight bar. SS windows don't have a rear windscreen & are clear, Blitzer & MB do have a rear windscreen & are tinted. Pictured from left to right, 1. Blitzer, original in SS box art 2. Sand Scorcher, original 3. Sand Scorcher, re-re nip 4. Monster Beetle, original white shell painted box art 5. Monster Beetle, original red shell new unpainted
  19. The rear arms from the Hotshot 1 are different to the rear arms on the Hotshot II (top & bottom) the rear arms from the Boomerang are the same though re-re Boomers are the same too. though even re-re boomer parts are scarce lately. But if you do a search for Boomerang R parts there's still a few around.
  20. I've got a few runners to choose from But lately my Top Force & my Boomer have seen the most action, they both handle & drive differently & are both a whole lot of fun to drive. Last few times I went for a run I've been taking both(using the GT3B 2.4 Ghz is great no more swapping crystals)
  21. Lololol that made me laugh, box truly looked like it was delivered like that
  22. Well I got home from work today & this was on the door step Luckily well protected inside was a set of original SuperShot tyres Had of been something fragile I would not have been happy. Still I won these on Ebay on the 19th of december 2011, that's 6 weeks from Germany to Australia Thinking by the state of the box though that Aust.post is to blame.
  23. That would be part D7 on the D parts tree Just checked my manual It's actually part D1, part D7 can be used but you need to use 2 o rings.
  24. Today I stripped down my newly purchased Fox & made a list of the parts I need to get. Found out it wasn't as good as I originally thought, they never are for some reason the previous owner had dremeled out the support bars on the front of the chassis & drilled 2 holes there. & predictably the chassis cracked between the holes. guess I'll be adding a new chassis to my list.
  25. Problem with the Monster beetle is that the gearbox plates will deform & slightly separate causing the bevel gears to slip (creating that clicking sound) the best fix would be Old Frogshots screw mod, do a search on the forums for this. Basically you tap a screw in between the out drive cups to hold the gearbox plates together. Works a treat & should be a must do to any vintage ORV chassis runner
