yeh agree - as its a tarmac track, would bring 'mostly' intend to use on-road, but of course always bring a few vintage off-road of course!. Its so easy to go to your local park and use a modern off-road buggy, but not so easy to use on-road F1, Le Mans style endurance, touring cars, road-rally stuff etc.

Just a reminder that the next Snetterton RC Meet is a double header, both Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of September. Some fellow rc'ers commented that our normal day Saturday were not convenient, so here's your chance! There are a few places left on both days at the moment, so if your interested, please get in touch with me. PLEASE remember that everyone HAS to be registered/pre-booked before the day (no money/deposit is required, just payment on day). So its not possible to just turn up on the day I'm afraid. This is probably be the last time we go as this group in 2014, so blow the dust off those F1's, TT's, M Series etc etc, and get in touch!! cheers Simon

Like last year, I will bring some DT-02 spares, nearly a whole car, I've got both VGC used, and some new. But belive it or not, last year no one needed/asked for anything, so I sold a complete new bare chassis at the end of the day for someone to make a car. HOWEVER, can I ask/suggest, if you've got it (DT-02 orientated), please can you bring it, you never know what maybe needed, or how many pile-ups we'll have!! LOL

Hi Steve, creative decoration/themes are encouraged, particularly for the standard HB/SR class. You just need to actually use the kit HB/SR shell as your basis, and it remain obvious/instantly recognisable that it a HB/SR shell. Basically, keeping the main shape and size as is, and nothing major sticking out or sharp. Look forward to seeing your photos!! When pm'ing, please pm me by normal email not this forum pm. See ya soon mate! Simon

Not on this occassion, the Wheelie Race didn't seem to agree with him. But he whooped everyone at the 4WD (of course)!!

Hi Shane, all looks/sounds good, to me, having 2 areas to run, plus your suggestion of kids being able to run, should make it very appealing to many members. I just hope you get enough interest and get this off the ground. I'm DEFINITELY interested, please keep us all informed if a date is set, I'd make the effort to join you. I know this is not the first time someone has suggested a more 'southern' location, so hopefully they'll be enough interest. Just a suggestion - the oval track would be great for stock cars/Mardaves!!

DT-02 Challenge Event is at Farnborough, but that's only annually I'm afraid. -
Hi Grumpy Pants, Concerning the standard (HB/SR) class only:- 17T with 55 is what others use, me too! Sports Tuned definitely 101 is a yesm, but a NO if you use the Sports Tuned, the 101 has a 27or25T limit. The Sports Tuned is a 23T, but definitely the one to fit to have the most fun! Somekind of oil shocks definitely, but cheaps ones ok - most used 3Racing I think, but I used normal black plastic Tamiya ones. The front brace bracket thingy is a definite YES, not compulsary, but they break easily, so would ruin your day! I've seen a photo of one broke this week (on IconicRC Facebook I think) I've never dyed wheels, but I understand that RitDye stuff works well. If you want a proper copy of the rules, I have them on pdf and WORD, so drop me a pm with your normal email address if you want. The rules were written in a way that they are help notes, i.e. if it says, 'you may fit', it is suggested that you do! Grease is up to you - I use the grey moly stuff in all my models on bevel diffs. I suspect you may get 100 different answers to that one! see you there! Simon

Your original comment said that IF there were more lefts and a proper straight, that you would spend the money on diesel fuel, but NOT bother if its a small track. I find that very funny. Clumber Park is a HUGE place. I think they even used to have a Lombard RAC Rally stage there! Everyone that goes, does as they wish. So I suggest you're missing the point of these meets and suggest you attend one, and actually find out!

I'm sorry for the rant earlier, I have now edited it (a bit!). I do take offence to people not appreciating the time and effort from the likes of JWeston etc etc, who make a considerable contribution towards our fantastic hobby. I also stand by what I've said about that I've noticed that the people who seem to criticise, don't seem to be the ones that actual go. Hopefully I'm wrong in this instance, and if so, offer my appologises sincerely.

Just to let everyone know, the next Snetterton RC Meet is planned for mid-September. Invites have been sent out to the regulars already, but newbies are welcome. Please send me a pm if you're interested. cheers

I've just read through all the comments, I appreciate that the initial comment was to only 'change the track', BUT, as another said above, I'm entitled to an opinion. After a 2hrs drive to Clumber Park, I normally get there around 8am to help JWeston, TamiyaMonkey etc etc set up. I also actively get involved where I can with other rc meets like Snetterton RC Meets and the DT-02 Challenge etc for example. Unfortunately, comments/critism such as this from HornetRacer1971 are quite common on these meeting threads, you only have to look through comments of other meet threads mentioned above. These meets may not be perfect, and I'm sure the organisors are open to constructive and positive suggestion. It can be seen in the meetings section that its VERY DIFFICULT to get these meets going and takes LOADS of time and effort by the same few organisers. I'm sorry to highlight this, but you only have look at THIS YEARS rc meet failures - Mendip Raceway and the TT01/2 Challenge for example. Very good ideas, from very good people, but they didn't happen. My guess is that it was lack of support/people committing to going. Agree?? I've only been to a few Clumber Park meets, but I can see already there are a number of reasons for the track layout/organisation etc. One of the main reasons has been highlighted, the fact that its one person (JWeston) with only 1 car FULL of track material. I also would like to see a larger/faster track at Clumber, but I can see that as its temporary, its unrealistic to be much different. Theres lots of public, walkers, dogs etc etc, plus the soggy/wet ground just below the track and some crappy rough surfaces (which of course Mr Hornet would NOT like!). I can also see that a SMALL and SIMPLE track that everyone (i.e. BEGINNERS / CHILDREN / known bad drivers (some are TC members!)) is needed also. What about the amount of safety fencing too, something that others don't seem to be considering. BUT, IF you bothered to go to one of these meetings, you would of course know that. IF you bothered to turn up at around 7-8am to help set up, you would of course KNOW that. IF you bothered to at least help with ANY of the SUCESSFUL rc meet ups as found in this forum, again, you would of course know that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall seeing your help or involvement in these meets. Over the last few years of using the TC forum I've noticed many different types of TC member / rc'er, but within the Meetings section there seems to be:- 1) One that CLAIMS to be an rc enthusiast - shows interest in such rc meetings, and then starts on critical comments like 'why aren't you organising it close to my home??' or 'I don't have one of those cars, so why can't you organise a meeting especially to suit me??'. In my expereince I found that in reality, THIS PERSON HAS NO INTENTION OF TURNING UP. So as an organisor/helper, I personally don't take any notice. I only take notice of fellow rc'ers that actual attend these meets. But please, I'M VERY HAPPY TO BE PROVED WRONG!!! 2) A real Tamiya/rc enthusiast who has both runners and shelfers. When an rc meet is orgainised, not only do they SAY they are going, but they ACTUALLY turn up with a smile and an open mind. Then after having tried one of the meets, want to go again and probably tell their rc friends too. You will find evidence of this within fourm threads of not only this one, but DT-02 Challenge Event, Snetterton RC Meets, Any Aussies Keen for a Bash and TamiyaClub USA. So I ask Mr HornetRacer1971 - which category do you fit into? I think the evidence within the threads of the SUCESSFUL meet-ups, and the UNSUCESSFUL meet-ups speak for themselves. ALL rc meet-ups simply rely on 2 things:- (1) someone willing to give up their time to organise it - (2) people turning up (and hopefully helping!). OTHERWISE THEY CANNOT HAPPEN. I therefore politely ask all fellow TC members to - please be more positive as to meet ups, they are GOOD for our fantastic hobby AND ACTUALLY take the time to turn up to the event (and better still, help out / get involved!).

Steve, your TT02 pictured!
-
EXCELLENT feature of the last meet up in AUGUST edition of RRCi Radio Race Car International magazine. 6 pages of write up and photos. Not only lots of top Tamiya classics photo'd but lots of TC members with smiley faces! Get yourself a copy.
-
Just thought I'd copy this post from a fellow TC member as entered on another thread (A1/IconicRC Revival Event in this section). I think this says it all. There are good 'fun' meeting events happening, now not only of quality, but now in quantity too! Maybe more TC members will join in sometime! .........Really looking forward to this! To anyone who hasn't raced before and is unsure about entering, let me say that last years Dt02 event was the first time that I had been on a track. Sure, my driving sucked, but it was great fun and a brilliant day out! At the revival you're going to be racing with like minded people of a similar ability. This promises to be a fantastic event, so blow the dust off those models and get yourselves entered!

Yes agree, great vid work, love the slo-mo's round corners. Even caught my Mardave Mini's in action. Great photo of one with all wheels in the air at aqround 8:40!!
-
Top video mate! Loved this last vid with the sunshine and the RM's & F1's going round! Down-loaded all of them.
-
Good to see lots of cool vids in addition to loads of stills. I'm gonna try and get my miniute in-car camera working (again!) so maybe some in-car footage next time!
-
Yeh, another great vid from TamiyaMonkey! Top work! Yes Marc, I was also surprised and really pleased at my first Snetterton track use. The large and open track really allows you to open up the throttle and at same time, the little car seems to get 'lost' in that wide open space! For my second visit I changed some of my cars to a higher gearing (recommended!). I've spent years as a child starring at the photos within the front pages of Tamiya RC Guide Books, wishing we had a large on-road circuit to use (and that I had good on-road cars too!). Where only now, those dreams have finally become a reality!
-
Shame, I was looking forward to listening to tunes from the Ministry of Sound!
-
Cheers chaps, another fine day out. Lots of varied rc stuff and fantastic to be able to fly around such a large track. Top photography job by JWeston and Gingerspice, now looking for to seeing the TamiyaMonkey movie! Next meeting date to be advised.
