  1. I thought that and have a couple of orangerx ones from my ill fated attempt at aircraft. They bind but the servo don't move....I looked it up and it's a common issue with the orangerx receivers.
  2. This kind of thing boils my *******. It's down to this attitude why eBay has inflated used prices on anything from tea bags to cars. if you had no intention of trying to win the auction why bid? It's as bad as shill bidding.
  3. Sadly that's more than I paid for two DX2e and shipping would almost double the cost!
  4. Gang. i am putting my kids Chrissy presents together (a pair of Amaroks on the WT-01 chassis) and have gotten them a Spektrum DX2e each. These came without receivers and I want a couple of dirt cheap units the Spektrum ones are dearer than the Tx!
  5. To be on the safe side I would recommend an acid etch primer like This (sorry it's a UK link) I used this to prime a Birmabright (aluminium) bodied Land Rover. A key ingredient to the primer is an acid that etches the aluminium alloy to promote a good paint bond and works brilliantly. Not sure if Leroy Merlin will carry it but most auto factors will.
  6. In my opinion the Hotshot has a rare trait amongst RC cars. It looks amazing in box art but takes a custom paint/livery really well too. I know it could be a contentious comment but i so often see "questionable" schemes on other RC cars but have yet to see a Hotshot that (apart from looking shabby) doesnt look awesome. Its such a brilliant design. Great work on the paint. Both look amazing.
  7. Just logged on to update my wish list to Just a frog (having just bought a Boomerang) and saw your post Luxie75. Sorry mate. Boomers are obviously like Buses. Nothing for ages then two come along at once!
  8. That's awesome! I can't imagine how long it took to put together. is it wrong that I REALLY like that Vitara(escudo) body?
  9. I have two Turnigy (Flysky) 9x Tx. Its a 9 channel 2.4ghz and dirt cheap from the like of HK. Using the open firmware you can make the transmitter a whole lot more usable. The 9XR already has the open firmware on it too.
  10. I love the land cruiser...but 80 quids worth??
  11. Holy moly. $42 plus shipping! It's a good temporary fix but you may only be delaying the inevitable. Some Chinese aftermarket supplier must able able to do them cheaper than $42!
  12. Can you not get metal upgrades for this? i know that's not in the spirit of your mod but I am surprised how carp these rock crawler drive trains are (I have never seen a CR-01 but own a SCX10 that was plastic flex heaven until you swap it all out!)
  13. Can anyone inform me why I can get a CC-01 kit with Pajero rally body for €129, an older style Unimog bodied kit for €170 and a newer Unimog for €200? what is the difference other than body (assuming there is any)? i know the Blackfoot was always cheaper than the monster beetle due to it having pogo shocks instead of CVA's and wonderedif a similar arrangement was going on here.
  14. wanted one since I was a wee kiddy. Now finally 30 years later I've got one.
  15. No one has a frog or boomerang kicking about
  16. Cheers Yonez. I agree. Nitro. I would avoid like the plague! I used the term Gas as so many people dont understand when i say "2 stroke petrol". I suppose now i live in Germany i should be calling it "2T Benzine" I agree. Gas is a gas. Not a liquid! I am curious as to how a 1:5 electric setup would feel and may end up going that rout
  17. I'm toying with the idea of buying a 1:5 baja buggy. I AM NOT getting into an argument over buying clones over HPI on other forums and know that despite this not being a Tamiya your all level headed and given me good advice in the past. I only own one non Tamiya car (an SCX10) so this would be number 2 if I progress. my question is about whether to go for a gas engine or electric power. I can buy and engineless chassis (King motor) and fit my own motor and ESC (was thinking 80A <1400Kv motor and ~200A esc) which would make it a little more costly than the gas model and I'd still need some monstrous 6 or 8 cell batteries. i kinda like the idea of a gas engine but they are LOUD. Seriously loud and a little part of me thinks the engines will be no more reliable than that in my hedge trimmer which is a pig to start and setup. Any advice or comments?....Please as I am confused 😊
  18. Bump. I think i have a Hornet en-route (Gumtree...Ak!) I am still after a Frog and Boomerang. I would much rather negotiate on here than evilbay if possible (bought two and sold one with TC members and its a much nicer experience)
  19. Gorgeous deep gloss on that Hotshot. I am rather envious
  20. Not a bodge but an error. Just finished building my MF-01X Jimny and set it off to crash straight into the wall whilst turning. Turns out (see my other post about it) that i have a reversed direction servo. I thought ALL servos just worked the same direction and never bothered checking it. I also never understood the need for a servo tester...until now. Anyone thats build the MF-01X will know a servo swap isnt exactly as simple as removing it from a grasshopper chassis...Its a pretty major disassembly job. NOW i understand the use of a servo tester
  21. I can hear the thought process now! "These lousy expensive Losi rubbish...They havent even punched out the O-Rings properly...Do i have to fix EVERYTHING!"
  22. I checked one of mine and its facing left. But the idiot has rolled his car!
  23. I concur with GregM. He advised me on the same matter a while back and it worked like a dream on acrylic formulas. I had an original Sand Scorcher plastered in thick Hammerite (Hammer effect anti rust enamel paint) and "Oven pride" oven cleaner stripped that off easy peasy. I dont know if you get that state side but google it and you will find out the active ingredients for an equivalent.
  24. Sorry to but in. But i was looking at ordering one from Banggood.com fyi.
