  1. I think somebody was blowing a lot of hot air with this one...
  2. I'm SO GLAD it's not just me...I'm SO GLAD it's not just me!
  3. I've painted up my Jimny body (MF01X) and applied the decals. My first attempt at two tone and using decals on a polycarbonate body. It's.....OK(ish). Frog tape NEVER bleads accept on PC it seem :(. Also spent the afternoon trying to convince my wife that selling my second motorbike to fund more Tamiya is acceptable (I bought a Yamaha Tenere to go greenlaning....only to find it's completely illegal in Germany!)
  4. After the spraying questions you posted...I'm liking the results! That Gulf scheme suits the Madbull/Grashopper 2 shell well.
  5. Ooh. Completely blindsided me there. I couldn't place it but your right terz it looks like a RTR wild dagger. Never heard if it....research ahoy!
  6. I just bought a group lot of in need of restoration cars and one is a complete unknown to me. ive never owned or seen a Kyosho but from what I can see this could be one. can anyone help? Sorry for the shot. It's all I could get at the moment.
  7. I too have seen and gotten completely confused over the turn count of Tamiya motors. All i know is i have a BZ and it blows a sports tuned out of the water.
  8. What horrible news. Just know that whether you have had dealings with us on this forum or not. We are all like minded and all behind you 100% and hope your battle proves a win for you. keep your chin up and keep fighting mate.
  9. On another forum I am a member of, these people are posted about with pretty damning evidence of their shill bidding activities, a group of us would jam the price up rediculously high to the point the seller knew he had been rumbled and pulled the auction or gave up shill bidding.
  10. What where those tyres you found? I am now wondering if CC01 rims and tyres would work. I wonder this as the G320 tyres look an awful lot like those bundled with the Landfeeder kits.
  11. I am beginning my birthday present build which is the JB23 Jimny. I want to assemble all the bits beforehand and bought a set of M-chassis rims (roughly 1.55") and some 1.55" mud thrasher tyres. The O.D of the tyres is WAY too big making me wonder if 1.55" is the correct way to go? Unless i suffered a brain fart and got freakishly high profile ones! The stock Rallye blocks are ok and i will use them at a push. But they are a tad low profile to be honest. I also dont want to spunk 100%+ of the kit price on a set of rims with or without the boots to match. Does anyone know what the dimensions are of the G320 tyres? I dont like the rims but the tyres look much better suited to the scale of the M chassis.
  12. Its things like this that solidifies in my mind why i want to go live in the middle of the forest and never interact with other people. All i can say is if it was my kids. I would be marching them over to you or yours apologise and pay for it through lack of their own toys for a while. Little gits.
  13. For me it has to me my Techniplus mk3. I also had a Mk5 (chrome one) back in the day but never liked it as much as my Mk3 that i still use to this day (unless i need multi-channel)
  14. I have an Aldi one and for pumping the tyres up, removing wheels e.t.c .its fine. For an airbrush as mentioned a water trap and GOOD (accurate and stable) regulator will see you right. My Aldi one cost me 99 quid IIRC so this one looks a good price.
  15. Not too long ago I was scouring evilbay for vintage Tamiya to add to my list of "must restore, I wanted that as a kid" pile. i came across a listing for "Tamiya RC car, no body". The photos where blurry and not clear but from the gold wheels and 2wd layout I suspected it was a Fox. I emailed the seller to see if it would go to the highest bidder or an offer would be accepted. The seller said he was clearing out his garage and thinks it was from the previous house owner some 20 odd years ago. He had no idea about RC cars but could see Tamiya on it. He offered to sell it to me direct for £35 +£5 postage. I jumped at it and sent him PayPal payment straight away. 2 days later I chased as the listi was still active and he said he wasn't up with "modern computer nonsense" and he would send it out that day and claim the funds/pull the listing the next. The car turned up three days later and I received my funds back unclaimed. i contacted him to let him know the funds had been returned. He emailed back with "I can't get to grips with PayPal". So I offered to mail cash or a cheque...he replied with "don't worry about it"....Score!
  16. Thanks for the help chaps. At that price though (twice what I bought the car for) I'll end up buying some silver paint or a lathe!
  17. You shouldn't beat yourself up over it. times change and when you took these to the dump that was probably all they where worth doing with. Times change and nostalgia is a great tool for inflating prices of old items. if I where to kick myself for the things I threw out or sold cheap (two mk1 escort 2 doors. One for £500 the other (an RS2000 replica) for £600 and a genuine mk2 Mexico fully race prepped for £1000 to name three) I would be covered in big bruises and need new hips. But when I got shot of them I couldn't afford to keep them for some reason (Insurance most likely) and that's all the market was demanding. Now...the mk1s with MOT are in the thousands, the mk2 Mexico...tens of thousands. we all do it sadly.
  18. "MB"... Monster Beetle? I thought they where styrene/ABS hard bodies and not polycarbonate (clear, thin, less detailed shells)? for the body stick with polycarbonate paints. Unless it is a hardbody which will take Halfords plastic primer and acrylic colours just fine (I have even painted polycarbonate shells in halfords acrylic colours before). All of my hard bodies are painted in Halfords paints. i would steer clear of enamels if you have used halfords primer. They should be ok together but the oil/water mix could end in disaster. Humbrol/Revell/Tamiya etc all make brilliant acrylic potted colours that cleanup up easily and are compatable with almost everything. check the guides on this site for painting a driver...it's brilliant. Stick to matts for the driver, gloss will look odd (apart from his lid). most importantly. Post pics
  19. You may as well be asking how long a piece of string is! I think its been covered pretty well above but if its for fun...You can do A LOT worse. If its for serious speed or course driving...You can do a LOT better.

    Marui Shogun Body

As the black is already on you could carefully mask the body with paper and tape and spray the silver with tamiya paint. i have done similar on a few of my cars and its works pretty well and gives a smooth finish.
  21. I am looking through the galleries and more than a few of the wild ones have some awesome looking aluminium rims (stock looking). does anyone know where to get them?
  22. bump...and to add a vintage Boomerang to the list. .**** you Tamiya! I should add. I want these for restoration. so condition isn't crucial.
