Finally got to a fun part on the Bruiser, i.e. not removing chassis screws and reinserting!

It's been one hurdle after another with this kit! Just when I thought I was on the home stretch, another problem thwarts me. This time, its the rubber. It seems that the tires for my re-re sand scorcher just might date to the original release. I have never encountered such rigid and unyielding bits of rubber. Seriously, they might just be as old as I am. Is there a trick to this? Why oh why can't they just be 2 piece wheels! My fingers have taken a serious mauling so far so I'm willing to try almost anything!

I find myself compelled to purchase this kit. The stickers are mesmerizing, although I'll surely be reduced to fits of twitching and rage when it comes time to apply them all.

Tower just got them in here in the US. Tempted to order one now... it's on my wish list and I figured it would be around a lot longer than this at least!

Any idea which model that is? None of the models I'm seeing on Associated's site indicate a crawler model or a drag-brake function

So I've got a Bruiser re-re and apparently they don't come with an esc of any kind. Sort of surprising for the money, but no big deal.. does anyone have any suggestions on an ideal esc? If I have to buy an esc should I just do some sort of brushless combo? I've got an LRC 17.5 motor and esc here not doing anything but that's probably not the right way to go

The guys in question are hardcore libertarian nutjob types. This is the reason that they have named their pistol after the one that the allies airdopped over occupied France in WW2. They want free guns for any/everyone because GOVERNMENT BAD, essentially. Welcome to America... don't tread on mah freedumbz /has guns, like target shooting //scared of other Americans with guns

I'll probably pick one up, buuuuut... I recently grabbed one of the Associated RC18 T2/B2 Team kits that you can build as a truck or buggy. No idea what to expect, as this was my first kit from this company, and wow... The manual and documentation sucks. Tamiya clearly spends actual money making decent, useful construction guides. It's so laughable, its not even a comparison. And I thought Kyosho manuals needed improvement.

Meanwhile, I just want to print out actionn figures and other toys

Now that my head is spinning with numbers, I'm frankly amazed that in all these years I've never had any stripped gears or other gearing related problems. Of course now that I know, I'm liable to grenade the next gearbox I build

Isn't a 15t pinion the same across all? I always assumed it was....

This is the reason why I put a big scary steel bumper on the front of my Toyota. The last time someone tried to brake check me they swtched to the gas pedal in a **** hurry when they saw what was bearing down on them. And the giant metal tow hook in the trailer hitch is for people who like to tailgate...

I'd imagine a tight steering radius could be sketchy on pavement with that locked diff!

Hot shot is a good build. It's got some technical bits and some stuff that can be frustrating and annoying, so all in all its a very worthwhile build. And I seriously cannot believe you plowed thru that so quickly! It's been ages since I've powered thru a build in a day. Awesome man!

Building it was quite the learning experience, thats for sure. The shocks took a couple tries, as the first time I built them they were bound up soild... now they work smooth and not a leak to be found, knock on wood. Anyway, here's the servo and rod position. When I saw the odd steering linkage I figured that a high torque servo would be best; now that I see that the servo is attached with tape only, I'm second guessing my choice.

I've got a duratrax onyx 245... can charge and balance 2 batteries at a time of pretty much any type. It was only $100 or so, and has really taken the pain out of learning about charging.

So I decided to dig into the Sand Scorcher. First of all, wow... this is easily the oldest design I have built. It's one of those things where as I'm building I keep scratching my head and wondering "Now how the badword did they come up with THAT idea instead of...?!" I don't think I have ever used so many grub screws in my life. Also, not a fan of the red jelly threadlock. Now my problem. I'm building this up as stock, at least initially. Which means using the really bizarre stock steering setup. Futaba S3010 servo, installed in the plastic box up front. I have it taped down with the front edge of the servo butted up to the plastic tab that sticks up on that side of the box. The problem is, with the steering rod installed, it seems to push the rod too far up, so that it is jammed up against the plastic and the rubber shroud piece. It's obviously either not going to work, or the servo is going to lever itself up off the double sided tape in short order. So is there any trick to making this odd assembly work as intended? It's on the shelf for a few days until a battery that fits arrives, so I'm working on a Wild One in the meantime...

I've actually got a coffee table with a Marklin Z-gauge layout in it. Love yours! Didn't know anyone other than Marklin made Z scale!

I feel your pain. In fact, I have a confession to make. All of the kits I have built recently are still awaiting paint. It's the part I dread the most. Especially when I see how gorgeous other peoples work is! I'd rather build ball diffs while drunk and with no thumbs... Yours really looks pretty good though. I'd put it on my shelf for sure!

I am insanely jealous of the ability to do this overseas. I have no idea what sort of dumbass reason the US has preventing me from doing up a Supermoto style Quad for the street. Meanwhile, you can have any sort of stupid trike you want here... Until then, my other money pit hobby is motorcycles and trackdays.
