  2. Why do some people have such problems getting the M05 to work. Mine is kit standard and is perfect.

I've noticed the people that struggle are setting them up like their old M03. Do that they handle like doo doo!

    The M05 needs a softer set-up

  3. The talk of tyres from you guy is both very interesting but also worrying.

I cant really afford to buy numerous different tyres just to see which works at the end of the day, the 118's seem to be the most reliable from what I can gather?

When you guys talk about scrubbing your tyres in, are you refering to taking the shiny surface off the tyres from brand new, or at the beginning if every meeting?

    Thanks

Just to create more confussion we can and do run Slicks at Worcester! Then theres inserts, springs, dampers etc... Like i've said before just turn up with the kit tyres on Friday and see whatever one else is running.

Next problem you'll have is finding people running the M03 to ask about set-ups. There aren't may left!

  4. Have I read that correctly? $60 for some bearings? Even $24 for some!

Buy the M03 set from www.rcbearings.co.uk as subsea suggests... for £6 ! the M05 set costs £7

The extra four 850 bearings found in the M05 bearing set arent worth the extra quid IMO unless your going to break those found in the gear box, which is unlikely.

  5. Now, im glad you mentioned lead weight. I will be running a very light YR 3200 lipo in the 03L. Now, do I add lead to the LiPo to weight it upto a NiMh weight, leave the LiPo as is and add the weight to the hollow part of the rear chassis, or a combination of both?

Core RC do some handy strips of lead weight. They come in black and silver varies; you’ll probably want a couple of the silver sets for each car as they’re a lower profile. Put the Silver strips on the batteries and stuff 25-30 grams in the back of the chassis and rear bumper. The battery holder in the M03 chassis can be very tight with lead on the top and bottom of a LIPO so test fit the battery with lead on 1 side first.

  6. All this chitter chatter about CofG, does it really make a difference on a slow Mini with a massive shell on??

Yes, massively on the M03! Get it wrong and you’ll be in grip roll city!!!

Tamiya's whole marketing strategy for the M05 is based around its improved CofG. LOL

If you’re running the M03L I’d suggest sticking your ESC, Receiver and lead wieght in the back end of the chassis.

  7. Hi c0sie,

As you've probably read I'm also running at WMCC (White/Red chequered Fiat 500)

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a cheap, yet long lasting tyre and insert combo for indoors (carpet with additive)??

Im not really fussed about "pushing for podiums", im more after some fun that isnt going to cost me a new set of tyres every fortnight!

Head over to RC Mart and buy any of the smaller 50 profile tires with a 30 in the title. Seriously everyone is running something different Much Mores, Spices, Tamiya, etc. It comes down to the individual driver and the chassis your running as to which tire will suit you (so this is pointless advice). I’m running Spice 32Rs which have lasted me about 4 months now with hard front and soft back inserts. The fronts are beginning to a little thin on the outside edges so will need replacing soon but the rears still have the mould line in them!

Personally I found the really open tire rules at WMCC a real pain in the ******* as a beginner, especially when similar rules for the Touring cars classes are much tighter. My suggestion is run the kit tires for a few weeks while asking around for advice and possibly borrow a few different sets to evaluate before committing to a set that just won’t suit you.

Jack the gripper worked for me or whatever Antics have in stock at the time LOL.

Also, do you guys glue the tyres to the rims or not? From what ive read I couldnt figure out whether you are or not.

Yes or, talking from experience, you’ll look like a noobie fool! LOL

  8. I've only ever cracked the rear upper suspension mount on the M03. Basically thats what I got for not running a rear bumper. That chassis became my M05.

The M05 keeps popping the ball joint off the steering arm, which ruined my run in the B final last Friday. Well not quite ruining because it was fun. I still finish 4th out of 7 after been a lap down on half the field after it fell apart. Hopefully using M03 long ball studs will fix this problem, either this or I could steer more and stop running wide into barriers coming out of corners.

  9. *Ironic* How do you waste ££££ just to be no faster then the other guys with them rules ? LOL *Ironic*

    WMCC rules...

    Car : Any Tamiya M-Chassis.

Bodyshell : Any Commercially available M Chassis Specific Bodyshell.

Motor : Standard Silver Can, Sport Tuned, 17.5 Brushless or Ezrun 3000kv.

Tyres : Any Commercially available M Chassis Specific tyre.(Non-smelling additive allowed)

Batteries: NiCad, Ni-MH or Li-Po Allowed

    Weight Limit: 1250 Grams

The Mito isnt a shell at the moment its a new HPI switch. I'd expect the shell to be avalible in the next few weeks because thats all the Switch is good for.

  10. At last the new ansmann wheel & tyre sets have arrived.

    Were they rubbish?

no grip from tires, until I changed them back to old ones

Yup pretty much as expected LOL. Ansmanns are a complete waste of money and to mount them onto the car is a waste of life.

I tried them and had pretty much the same experience as you've described. Basically they have a waxy coating when you take them out of the packaging. You can get round this problem with the help of some wet and dry, but some folk in our Mini class can ruin a set of Assmanns in a night by wearing through the rubber down to the foam inserts on carpet without the help of wet and dry! Add to this the rims crack when you touch anything with them. You can pick the tyre off the rim and mount them on something that won't crack but I’ll refer you back to my comments about wasting life...

As you can tell I'm not a fan. LOL

Racing tonight ... Plan is to destroy my Fiat 500 for replacement with the HPI Alfa Mito body!

Yummy but annoyingly short wheel base.
