hey guys, thanks for all your responces......all the info has been very helpful. I bought my DI a few weeks back and after spending a few careful hours I'm pleased to say its finished and up n' running! The buggy is great, much better than my old old manta ray from 10+ years ago..... thanks again! Rusty -
Hey guys, From my previous posts here on tamiyaclub.com I've been doing some good old research before parting with hard earned cash. Now that I've commited to a Dark Impack ( ordered this morning, can't wait till Monday!), I'm already looking at some upgrades. I've purchsaed an ESC Sniper RV-12 from ModelSport and have been also looking at motors. This link below has me interested. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=29609 Before I ask if the the HPI Firebolt 15t is any good, whats the deal with the motor turn number vs torque? I beleive I understand correctly that the lower the motor turn number, the fast the motor is thus the quicker the car/buggy. However, I've read other posts from people saying that they have changer motor for a higher turn number that has more torque. They then claim the speed of the car/buggy is faster. Is the the case? What are peoples views on this? oh, and is the HPI Firebolt 15t anygood Rusty

If I opt for an EZrun system: 1: Where could I pick up the system in the UK? 2: Would the stock gears of the DF-03 take this setup? I accept that i would need to swap out the tamiya batt connectors, I'll go for the Dean type as these seem to be the most popular. thanks again guys Rusty -

hey guys, thanks very much for all your help and advice....decieded to go for a Dark Impact DF-03 I'll keep it stock for a while until I'm ready to upgrade. As the kit doesn't come with an ESC could somebody recommend one, i guess I don't need anything major. cheers Rusty -

hey guys, thanks for all you advice and tips.....totally didn't expect this! kinda wish i had got back into the R/C scene years ago, feels like a very friendly huge community. thanks for the other model tips off, I've made a list & going to check out a few model shops next weekend before commiting but I really like the idea of a DF-03 model (Dark Impack) but i need to learn more about ESC units etc, also i don't want to run before i can walk so I may well stick with a DF-02 next issue - Battery's! whats the deal here, ebay lists about a million different types, some have wicked packaging but are cheap, other are plain looking but more costly. Should I get 2 or 3 battery's and a quick charger? Do the new tech batteries need conditioning like in the old days? and lastly, as a guesstimate how long would you expect a battery to power a 4WD buggy running on tarmac? are run times still about 10 - 15 mins? thanks alot guys Rusty -

Hey Mark, thanks for the lightening responce....having been up nearly all night research, reading etc I'm now down to my final 2 choice. 1. The Rising Storm 2. The Dark Impack Although the Dark Impack will go over my budget, would this buggy be vastly superior to the Rising Storm? Compared like for like how would you rate them and what would be the main differences? cheers mate Rusty -
hi people, I'm getting back into RC model cars.....being 30 now the last time i had one was when i was about 14, a Tamiya Manta Ray. I want to get another complete kit with a budget of about £150, although I would be happy to get my charger and battery seperatly. I've been looking at the DF-02 kits and keep getting drawn to the Rising Storm. What are you thoughts on this model? My plan is, start up again and get practice in with a hope to race and have some fun at a club (hopefully snetteton) Would the Rising Storm be a competive car assuming it was in the right hands? Do people have any suggesting for a really nice tamiya all rounder that i could grow with? thanks for you help Rusty
