Looks like the weather may stop us tomorrow. They are predicting rain for the next 3 days Anyone free Saturday the 2nd for a Happy New Year meet instead?

Hey all! My next project to do over the Christmas break (and probably well into 2010) is a pair of original Hotshots. I bought these of TC member Sandyian some time ago and finally pulled them out to see if I could make one good runner from two cars. Much to my surprise, I think I may be able to make two runners First up - here is what I am starting with: Now looks like this: So far there are only a few missing/broken parts which I should be able to source from a re-re kit. One original part I will have to find it the hex style prop shaft and front/rear gearbox joints. Next step will be to strip all gearboxes - this will be the decider if I can make two runners or not.

OK Wild one is now "officially" finished. Got a new set of Super hornet wheels and pained them white using tamiya plastic matt white spray can. Given the car a few runs and paint is staying on so far. This is still my favourite car to drive. The only damage is I have dropped both front king pins. Replaced them with lunchbox style screw pins.

This was our best meet yet. What a great turn out. Great to see a few new faces too. Next run on Monday the 28th December (public holiday). Here are a couple of pics to show the growing numbers Can't wait to see what Santa has brought us all!!

We start arriving round 930am. If you run crystrals make sure you pop in to the RC boat club and register your frequency. They get a little antsy when we clash. Looking forward to a big morning! Hope the rain stays away Shame you can't make it Mark - sure we will see you after Christmas

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I have just bought the same ESC and can't find the manual anywhere and the link above doesn't work anymore. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Lunchbox Steering Question
ap6318 replied to Butler's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I've just done that on mine but with 4-40 rod its a little thin - the 4mm should be a perfect thickness. Check my Lunchbox thread for ideas. I had to laugh at the thread title... "Lunchbox" and "Steering" are usually not in the same sentence unless the words "non" and "existant" are also included -
Now Part Of The Big Squishy Tyre Crew

Great idea! I've broken 2 body posts so far so have run a 4-40 threaded rod through the rear. See the pictures below... A little bit of dremmel work Let the rod overhang by about 10mm A nut to hold the rod in place and to finish off, a little heat shrink tube over the thread so it doesn't cut into the body Finished product! Given her a few good runs and the rod does bend but is still much more durable than the body posts. -
What a great day!!! Looking forward to the next one. Got some pics of the cars... and a couple of shady looking characters. TA Mark has a heap more. Hope to see a link here soon

Hi! Locking the diff will improve the grass issue. Better tyres will improve the gravel traction. I would try tryes first. Locking the diff will emphasize both understeer - big rear wheels wanting to push the car straight instead of turning. And oversteer - the back end will want to break traction of the inside wheel on a corner and the back end will tend to want to whip round. It is a little difficult at first but quite fun once you get used to it.

Hi Mark Yes, definately bring a few sets of crystals in case there is a clash as we have to play together with the boaties. They run a frequency board and happily give us 3 or 4 channels every Saturday. No AC power sorry - unless you go over to the boats and they might have power as they run a small container shed.
-
I hope to make it tomorrow. Anyone else from here coming?
-
Sorry Guys Something has come up and I have to pull out this Saturday. Definately good for next Saturday 21st November.
-
Only a small gathering on Saturday due to bad weather on one side of the bridge. No pictures either sorry Planning a run again this Saturday the 14th and then having a break for a few weeks. Message me if you need any further info. All welcome! Cheers Mark - ap6318

And finished! Short and sweet build. Have since taken it for a run and it drives quite well at low and medium speeds on the track. Get the revs up on the black can and the back bounces round like a cane toad with a dislocated hip. Guessing I have to add a little weight on the back or something? Is it worth experimenting with springs/oil? Runs good on the grass or soft stuff. Overall happy with the car as a cheap runner. Try and get some action shots in the next few weeks. Got a second car to build (the donor car) which will be a thrasher but think I might start on the Fox next.

Looks like it hasn't Got a heap of rain this morning so doesn't look good. Anyone live close by to look at the track conditions? Lets aim for a big turnout on the 21st.

Finally time to update this one... Roller completed and body cleaned up. Came up heaps better than expected once I removed all the "optional" decals that were on it. Underneath. Just finishing off the driver painting and she's ready to put in the ESC and Sports tuned.

Hey guys Boondall is on again Saturday the 7th Nov at 930am - weather permitting. I've just finished restoring a Super Hornet to break. TA-Mark - You should definately try and make the trip one Saturday. We are trying to do them every 2 weeks if you need to plan ahead. PM me if you need any info. The boat guys seem very friendly - we use their frequency board so there are no clashes for us old schoolers using AM still Hope to see you all there. Mark

Here are a couple of action shots from our Boondall meet. More shots in the Aussie thread in the Events section.

All ready for tomorrow Here is my line up...

WOW! Great job. Looks fantastic! I would say the chassis cracked from an impact and someone decided to just cut the crack out. I have 2 chassis and both have a crack in the exact same place. I repaired mine with epoxy glue as well. Welcome to the big hands club. I always think they look like the massive gloves they use when checking if cows are pregnant? Maybe Ray is a Veterinarian by day
