Finally our a day we are all free. How cool to have 2 Wild Ones running together! Make sure to bring cameras!
-
Hi Alex Thanks for the offer! I will PM you in the next week or so with parts I need and see if you can help. All the parts I ordered arrived yesterday. I also bought another S/H roller Got most of the C parts now - the axle shaft mounts that screw to the chassis was what I was chasing. Better get to work on it....
-
Right guys. This Saturday 24th Oct 930am at Boondall. Bring along anything electric that you want to get dirty
-
I'm an Aussie thank you... and we call it a shed too The really special stuff goes "straight to the Pool Room" Actually there isn't alot to these - compared to like a Hotshot. Cleaned and put useable parts on the new chassis. Also cleaned, re-greased and ball raced the gearbox and put in the new housing. Getting more parts this week hopefully so this shouldn't be a long build. Thanks for the link Anthony. I check your store all the time for parts I need. No Super Hornet C parts though
-
Hey Dave what Brisbane hobby shop have you found that does deals like that I want one now! That set up would go good at Boondall too if we flattened the jump out.
-
The home made repair is really bad - the rear mount moves about 20mm. It's in the bin now. I will start a new thread for the Fox with pictures soon once this one is finished. I only ever do one rebuild at a time otherwise I would never finish any!! Totally stripped ready for rebuild. Waiting on some shocks to arrive and I'll make a start. This is all I could salvage that is useable
-
Not so fast will... if you look closely at the second photo one tab has broken off No big deal though as the mounts are missing too so I've got a complete C parts on order. Speaking of broken... have a look at this chassis for TRASHED
-
Well... After having so much fun building the Wild One I bought my next car... A complete Fox was on ebay with only one photo and very little description. I managed to win it for for $120 delivered and was quite chuffed with my purchase.... until it arrived. A massive box arrived at my doorstep containing what looked like the contents from the bin of a hobby shop. I won't start on the Fox yet... that is for another build thread once I manage to get some parts like a new chassis One good thing was the lady left a note in the box saying she had cleaned out her son's shed and I now have everything RC related in this box. 90% went in my bin and I managed to salvage this: I was just going to leave it at that and maybe raid it for other build parts but after a trip to my local hobby shop I noticed a box with hornet written on it so of course I asked what was in there... After exchanging a $10 note I now have to rebuild a Super Hornet because I have parts. Well that's my excuse!! Here we go again....

OK... I have sent PMs to all that have posted here. I had a run with some guys from RCTech on the weekend and had a great time. We are trying to arrange a regular social Saturday get together at 930am for a few hours. Below is a map of the exact location: There are photos of the track in the Australian Racing section on RCTech. Don't be shy, if there are any others in South East Qld who want to catch up or have questions please post here. Even if you can't make Saturdays we may do other times that suit people better. Cheers Mark - ap6318

Cheers, yeah can't wait to get it on the track with some others. Hopefully I will get to Boondal in the next few weeks for some action shots. Having 2 little boys gives me lots of "shed time" and not much track time so I am buying all the cars I wanted as a kid but never had - I only ever had a Jet Hopper What parts you after? I have a few spares laying around. I now have a busted Fox to rebuild next so happy to trade or sell off what I don't need anymore.

FINISHED!!! Found some nitro proof gloss clear coat for planes at my LHS that did the job perfectly and brought out more colour in the dull decals. I'm so happy with the build. Hoping to go to the next vintage meet at Boondal QLD (Aussie thread in Events and Meets) to christen it properly and get some action shots. Special thanks to James (BeetleLover) and Stefano (Alfettalimo) for the parts posted from OS and all the people who have given me advice from TC. Cheers Guys! Mark
-
OK Guys. Looks like Vintage Meets @ Boondal is back on again Had a chat with security there and nitro trucks are banned so the track can be maintained so we don't destroy our cars. The guys from rctech are keen to go starting tomorrow - Saturday 12 Sept from 11am. Unfornunately I am busy but will make the next one with more notice. I will post times and details here for anyone that wants to come along.

...Because that's how it should be!!

Wow! The Losi motor and esc is awesome. Raced hard against a friend with a new B4 and 9t brushless and kept him in check the whole time except on one long straight. Will swap the 19t pinion for a 21t and they should be pretty even. Try and take some action shots next time I go out. I'm thinking of giving it the vintage look when on the shelf. Does anyone here have a spare set of front jellybean rims and tyres laying around they want to part with? Don't have to be great just useable condition. Cheers Mark

Decals done I ended up buying some cheapies of the bay to try for my first attempt. Sizes were spot on, colours were a little off but I'm happy for what I paid.. Have taken some photos next to my original body for comparison. I've noticed the decals don't like sticking to the curves of the helmet so will add some CA glue to fix that problem. I was also thinking of spraying a clear coating over the decals to try and make them last a little longer as she's going to be a runner. Has anyone tried a protective clear coat with any success?
-
Finally an update.... Painted the body, driver and head ready for decals. Going for the box art look. Had to give Ray an eyebrow stud to match mine Good to see you are nearlly finished too Lucas. Glad the parts were of use to you. You painting your driver made me pull my finger out and finally finish my head. Just the decals now and I will be posting some action shots very soon hopefully!!

Tamiya ESC and clutch adjustment made no difference. Took the CO27 out and put in a 540J motor. Lost a ton of speed but the plus is I ran it for an hour and both motor and ESC were nice and warm. I guess with advanced timing is too much with this gearing? Just picked up a new Losi 12t ESC and matching 12t sealed can out of a RTR Desert Truck as well as a 19t pinion so going to try that combo next. I must say, this buggy is a dream to drive... even for a one eyed Tamiya owner! Also found out the steering hop up is an A&L
-
Thanks Richie Yeah I thought it sounded right but I know absolutely nothing about these buggies. Done a little reading on rc10talk but I'm a Tamiya fanatic so have resisted the urge to sign up... for now Ditched the HPI speedy for a Tamiya one. Also found the slipper was tightened hard up so have backed that off as well. Lets see if that improves things.

Hey All While searching for my next vintage Tamiya buy I happened to stumble across this on RCTech for sale near me. While bartering over the price for an hour a sum was settled and I now have a foreigner in my collection From what I can gather it is a 1990-91 RC10 Team Car #6035 with stealth trannny and a few additional hop ups like titanium turnbuckles all round and a ball race steering set up - MIP? Dropped in a CO27 with 21t pinion - stock 81t spur - HPI ESC and a 2 cell lipo and she goes like a cut cat. Speedy thermalled after 10mins of hard running on flat so I will have to change the gearing I think. Any ideas what ratio to aim at running these? It is currently 8.7. I'm thinking of taking it to a local club track for a race just to see how good it can run as it looks to be begging to race. I'm new to non Tamiya so if you have any tips to help this thing run to its full potential feel free to comment.

Hey! That's my thread... I'm famous I'm in Brisbane on the southside but have wheels and will travel. Just waiting on the last of my WO parts to arrive from thew UK then I will be keen to run with anyone and everyone who wants to. I also now have a Frog and RC10 almost running. There are some guys on RCTech who used to run vintage at Boondall. I am thinking to maybe re-energize that thread for a once a month vintage social. Please post here and hopefully we can get something happening one weekend in September. Cheers Mark

PM sent for buggy wheels

Hey Lucas Replied to your email
-
Sending you a PM Willy For sure. Will be spraying the shell but the driver body and head will have to be done by hand. Just grabbed some matt flesh paint from my LHS for the face. Going to try and do a box art.
-
Sounds fun. Will PM you after I'm finished and try and join you one Saturday. Progress Report: Body set all cut and drilled ready for paint... What you looking at? Wanna race??? Now the tricky part of painting without screwing it up
