  1. Hi Matt! I'm another Boondall Vintage runner and can help you out with any electrics you may need! PM me anytime Look forward to you joining our group soon. Cheers Mark
  2. Onto the body and driver. Here's how Tony Toudor looked whe he arrived into my custody... Now has a new face and a new home The body is a little sad but definately useable for a runner. Glued up a couple of cracks in the body and also glued down all lifting decals then gave the edges a trim with a razor blade. Here is the finished product. All I need to do now is get it dirty! Took it for the maiden voyage at Boondall on the weekend but it was a little too muddy - decided to thrash the lunck box instead And for those of you wondering about the rear arms - the wheels are in motion. Hope to have some exciting news by the end of July... watch this space
  3. Great work! Fun little site Real name = Turbo Garaiya ap6318 = Saint Dragon Wife = Thunder Champ 1st boy = Terra Rover 2nd Boy = Mammoth Ray
  4. A quick plug for some awesome fun to happen this Saturday the 3rd of July at 9am!
  5. No, price was $2500 for 20 sets of 4 which is $125/set. Still needed bushes and screws etc so add another $10/set to the cost. Getting some drawings from the machine shop today hopefully and hopefully do a rough cut next week to prototype them. I will keep all updated on the progress. In the meantime, I picked the car up and extended the motor wires to get the car running and cleaned up the wheels and tyres. Took her for a little strap up and down the street and feels very nice. Steering is a bit weird to get used to - massive understeer on throttle and oversteer with no power. Sure it will hook up better off road. Off to do the body and driver while I wait for the prototype arms to be made
  6. I blame work! Now there's a waste of 40 hours a week! If you're too busy you could always sell it to me Scott. I'll get it running
  7. Wow, thank you for replying Chris. I am actually a subscriber to your website already so I know your quality looks the goods. I have had mixed success so far. My first price for a run of 20 arms was over AU$2,500 before even looking at bushings or hardware so is out of the question. My arms are currently at a shop getting measured up for lazer cutting and holes milled out. I would be happy to send you a full set of arms (upper and lower) when I get mine back from the shop with the quote. I will send you an email in the next 24 hours to discuss further. Thank you again for the offer to help us poor old Fox owners! Cheers Mark
  8. Its like you read my mind Brad! I think you should have it ready for Boondall next week. Now all I have to do is find one...
  9. Stop it! Now I want one
  10. Nice build you have there. A brushless will be fine in the frog - at least you have 3 gearing options to play with. Looking forward to seeing any gearbox or rear shaft work you do. A note on the rear shocks - I swaped my originals for re-re shocks and it was the WORST thing I did for the Frog. The re-re shocks are way too stiff and the car drove like a pig on ice until I put the original "leakers" back on. Parma made some rear shocks for the Frog which are great IF you can find any. Or just some cheap Yeah Racing ones would be better. Anything but the re-re shocks!
  11. Next step completed - Rear end rebuilt. Running a new Sport Tuned (thanks Brad) with 19t pinion. Bum finally re-attached to body Just noticed I'm going to have to extend my motor wires too Underneath Here are a couple of close ups of the reinforced arms in position I won't be progressing much past this stage as the car is back at the machine shop while we try and design a functional rear arm set that doesn't weigh 10kg and wont cost the earth. Stay posted for more info soon....
  12. Yup, RZ with a 13 tooth pinion is about perfect. If you have a flat smooth surface you can up a tooth or two but just watch the heat. The cheap 200a ebay ESCs work fine for me with this combo.
  13. Here is a photo of the arms before I install them: I have also been doing some research into getting lower arms machined. So far things are promising, I have a machine shop interested in a small trial run - almost prototype run - of complete rear arm sets, upper and lower. Details are still a little way off as we are still designing the most practical and cost effective way of manufacturing. If anyone has a set of machined arms or design plans/pictures please PM me. Also, anyone wanting a set, let me know so I have an idea on numbers to make. I'm trying to keep the cost under AU$100
  14. This Saturday is going to be a big one guys. Seems like forever since we've had a decent run at Boondall. Hope to see you all there
  15. Haha I wish!!! No, I'm still waiting for someone to make alloy arms as well. I paid a silly amount of money for some NIP arms from epay. My good friend, MAD RACER (who knows his Foxes) is using a 2 part epoxy to strengthen them before I install them. I will post photos when I get them on the weekend. Sorry for getting you slightly aroused
  16. Next step completed. One stripped and cleaned gearbox. Also cleaned up the rear shafts and put some anit-wear grease in the hex sockets to try and preserve. Pic below of before and after. Pick up my re-enforced rear arms on Saturday then onto the assembly next week.
  17. OK people. Prepare your cars for another day of plastic crackin fun at Boondall, this Saturday 22 May from 9am
  18. Front end assembled Quite happy with the results. There is a little play in the plates but it will be fine for a runner. I'm sure I'll break a front arm in no time anyway. Off to play with the back end now...
  19. Thought I'd share a few photos from my Gold Coast holiday last month. Had to take "the box" to the beach. WOO HOO!!! Some attempted rooster tails Enjoy!
  20. Correct shocks sourced and rebuild with 35wt oil. Put a spacer on the front shock to try and stop bottom out. I'm not going to run a front stabilizer for the first run as I want to see how it feels. A few guys have said the car corners much better without it. Front uprights half done - bit of before and after Looking forward to front end assembly tonight
  21. For sure. I will try and have it running for the Boondall meet after this one. I might have a front arm or 2 spare if you need them. I'm sure with 2 fox hoarders in our group you should be right for fronts. Maybe have a rear arm hunt in Japan.
  22. No loans, just a kidney Chassis cleaned and electrics installed. Running the original Sanwa servo, a HPI electronic speedy (auto setting end points) and Eurgle 2.4ghz receiver. Shouldn't have to open it up for a while.
  23. Not so sure I will be first finished Brad, but yes definately a fox run would be awesome. Then we can all search ebay for the next 6 months looking for rear arms again Car stripped. Looks like all 4 rear arms are broken around the pin holes. That's ok because I won an auction last month for a complete set of new rear arms. Here are all the non useable bits Good news is I think I have everything to complete the rebuild
  24. Cheers everyone for the compliments. Unfortunately I traded the second Hotshot not long after the last photos were taken. It is now complete and running. The best thing is I now get to race against it Here is a photo of the twins re-united at the track
  25. Yeah, I'm on my third set of rims since those pics. Even broke a pair of fronts. We race them pretty hard at Vintage Boondall meets here in Brisbane. Here is a vid of our last "Insect Cup" Insect Cup
