Hi Ap6318
I've not used the lipos yet, but I could be interested. Do I need a special charger for them? I'll pm you when I get a chance.
This weekend I think will be out for me, on home duties and have to tidy up the yard
. But will try and come along if anyone ends up going somewhere. Along I'm keen to take my son to the Springwood water tank area, at least he can't hit anything there!Hi Yogi
I can help you with everything to make the transition to lipo. It's easy as falling off a bike and if treated with respect as safe as ni-cads.
PM me anytime if you want to chat and I'll give you my number.
As for the weekend, Sunday arv works for me. I don't have my F189 ready yet but have a TA-02 rally and TT-01D drifter ready to run on road. Also got a Street Devil that needs a bit of work but no chance for this weekend.

Have been thinking about this place and will be running my Renault Mk 22 here and if I ever get my Celica LB Turbo restored, that one too. I was thinking they were cars I've never run, parts being too hard to get/expensive, but that place just looks too good to resist! All I need is a battery to fit the cars (They took the smaller 6V battery), which I still have, but I melted one day (overcharged it!), many many years ago. Anyone got any suggestions for a replacement battery that would fit?
Hi Yogi
I don't have any at this exact moment but can get 2200mah 7.4v lipos that are smaller than the old 6v packs so just fill the gap with some foam.
PM me if you need more info or we can chat when we finally meet up for a run soon.
I'm keen for this weekend sometime. Anyone got a day/time preference?
-
Yeah the council have tried to make it usable for kids. I never see any kids there though, which makes it even better to run cars. I do see other guys up there running cars.
Ooh nice place for some vintage on road action - good find Paul!
Sorry I've been quiet lately guys, work has been killer last few weeks. You'd think they didnt know I have more import things to do like build and run RCs???
Will try and tag along on whatever the next run is.
-
Sure thing. Keep an eye out on this thread for future runs. It's all very casual and you can run whatever you like (except gas cars-too noisy!)
Was a heap of fun! Thanks for posting up the pics Paul - pretty good shots for a phone camera!
Hope to see you on a run soon yogi-bear - what cars have you got?
Next run should be round the 8th of October - venue TBC (open to suggestions)

Hi guys!
Chasing an adjustable motor mount to finish my blackfoot rebuild. Either the CRA alloy or CRP 2107 fibreglass one. New or in good used condition.
PM if you have one you want to sell.
Cheers

How's the beach run shaping for next weekend? Are we still on?
I think so
... Just realised it's school holidays so will be packed. Were we doing a Gold Coast run? If so might have to travel a bit further south to find a quieter stretch of sand.
Anyone else keen for a day in the sun?
-
Yep, the more the better. Bring whatever you like-everything is welcome there.
Except re-re Holiday buggies coz they hurt our eyes

Ready for a big squishy tyre bouncing afternoon!
-
Is anyone welcome?
For sure!
Sunday's run is at the park next to Mooroondu Soccer fields, Mooroondu Rd Thorneside.
PM me if you want my mobile number to arrange times etc.
Cheers
Mark

Why don't we do a Gold Coast beach run on the 24th instead and Sunny Coast next time?
Also, this Sunday afternoon Sept 11 @ 2pm a couple of us are having a run at Thorneside on Brisbane southside.
-
Yeah I found found a few parts but the rear arms are the sticking point on the car ever going again.
It may live in a box for a while in parts until they come along.
It's your lucky Dave. Sent you a PM

-
Looks like the weather has postponed this for now. Try again in a couple of weeks.
-
Will have to get back down for a run again soon.
Seeing Scott wont come to us, I'm heading up to Maroochydore on Saturday the 27th for anyone that wants to meet for a BEACH RUN.
Meet at Maroochy Surf Club round 11am for early lunch and beach run from 12 for a couple of hours. PM if you need any other details.

i usualy end up listening to the woman next door 20m away , screaming at her kids to '' get in the so and so bath '' , '' clean up this so and so room '' and my fav '' where did you learn to so and so swear like that ! '' its just bad luck the spare room is on her side ...

You mean you can hear my wife in Mackay from Brisbane?

You forgot "Put that stupid toy down, act you age and help me get these kids to bed"

Shame you stripped the old shell.
Would've been nice to keep that as a runner, and the new one for the shelf.
But I guess you can't tell what's underneath until you do start stripping it.
Still, it's a sweet little piece!!
Well done.

Yeah the plan was to run the re-re and shelf the original shell. It still could happen but I did not have the time to spend to bring it back to life again.
Radio box insatlled - I managed to glue up the front part and install an Acoms 29mmhz AM receiver that has the leads coming off to make plugging easy.
Also installed the original servo with some "Shoe Goo" as well as a generic 200A ESC (I sell these locally for $25) will run the silver can on 2s lipo easily. Finally a lipo buzzer to stop any chance of dropping cells below 3 volts

A test run with the Acoms stick radio was a success!! Next step - mounting the body to complete the job
Oh, the lipo was not pictured - I used this one 2200mah 20C Lipo

Great Project! Keep the pics coming! I always like to see something like this saved from eBay or the bin. Is he planning on running this thing? What are the differences between the original Rough Rider body and a new Re-release body?
OSR
Hey thanks Old School!
Most of my cars are dogs to start with - that's part of the fun. Yes the car was built to be run - will load pics of the electrics a bit later.
Not sure of the difference between the original and re-re body - they look the same to me but the original was missing the roof as well as having an F1 spioler hanging off the back. the only obvious thing was the decals.
Next is the chassis

Front suspension - gave it a polish with WD40 and steel wool. How good do the RC Channel shocks look

And mounted - re-used the original ball races on the uprights - not sure this was a good idea as there is some play in them. See how they hold up under a run.

Servo saver rebuilt and installed.

Next - radio box...

Been a while since I updated this build so thought I'd better finish it off since the buggy is now back with its original owner.
Dash detailed

Driver painted

Body totally finished

While I was painting the body I tried to rebuild the shocks with 1 out of 4 shocks holding oil. Luckily I found these and must say I'm very impressed.

Upload some more pics and continue soon...

HI!... Anyone know where I can find a set of stock (orange) Super Hornet rear wheels and stock rear tires. I'm having no luck.
Thanks :
Neal.
Hi Neal
Can't believe you cant find any over there!? I have a couple of new sets of rear rims they are only like $15 here in Oz. Getting them to you will be the painful bit.
Never looked into tyres coz the originals are not that great. I now run Losi 2.0 step pins.
PM me if you are keen and I'll find out post cost.

Do you have a website or somewhere where we can see your wares (there was alot of wheres, wares, wears there)

No website yet. I've bought my domain but not smart enough to do my own site so waiting for a mate to help me (not holding my breath).
I set up shop at every boondall run or shoot me a PM and I'll give you my number to come round to the man cave for a lookee.
For post orders, PM your email address and I can sent a price list.
So... All the Brissy and Coast boys ready for a run Saturday?

Mark, 35 , Brisbane.

Any chance of Falcon "R" parts (front shock towers) being made?
I'm sure you'd sell plenty!

Put my name down for sure!
Unfortunately this isn't a cheap process so i'm in no hurry to try different parts anytime soon - I can put you in touch with the guy that made these for me if you want to.

Hi guys, been a while since i was last on here.
ap6318, ive noticed that you've manufactured Fox Rear Controller Arms and i was hoping that you will still have a few left to sell as my rear controller arms are old and they wont last that long. If you still do have a few left i would like to purchase some. You've done an excellent job on re making those rear arms and they look geat as well. To me, they do not need to look original but as long as they are strong and reliable im in for some arms.. Also, i have a Tamiya Thundershot that require's Front and Rear Controller Arms as well which they also have the same problem with the arms as the Fox. Please let me know of the availability of the Fox arms, and what can you do for my Thundershot Arms as well. Hope tht im not asking for to much, Cheers..Vince!Also, Hi MAD RACER..Mark, hows the Fox going with the new arms, ive read that you've got some arms from ap6318? When your in Syd luv to catch up and get our Fox's out, mine's semi retired at the moment and collecting dust, its time to re awaken the BEAST!!!

Hi Vince
I still have a few sets of fox arms left. They are $100 a set of 4 (2x top + 2x bottom arms).
Seing you are a friend of Mad Racers, I'll express post them to you for free.
PM if you would like a set or 2 and I'll pass payment details on to you.
Cheers
Mark
