Hope it's not over-populated. Everytime I've been past it, there has been people using it. And that's on a normal weekday. -

Im keen to give it a go at some stage- kinda feeling like some off road action this time. I've only got one on-road car so I'll need to get more. -

Good timing Peter- I was just thinking about our next run. I think beaches will be too crowded to be honest. I'm keen for some off road fun somewhere, don't care where. Maybe thorneside? I'm off work all next week so I'm pretty flexible. -
Anyone who doesn't think this is one of the best looking buggies ever is kidding themselves. I mean look at it. It's just plain sexy (am i allowed to say that on here?!)

Final meet At Boondal ( Australia) for 2011
Retro rules! replied to MAD RACER's topic in Meetings & Events
Thanks for your kind words Mark. Great to see boondall looking like the boondall of old with that run you guys had on the weekend. Will be making an appearance real soon I think. Sport tuned class sounds good. I uploaded a couple of old videos I did to the movies section. One is of the insect cup and the other is of your terra conquorer. Check them out and the comments people left. Someone did ask me the specs of your conquorer so if you want to reply here as to some of the basic specs, I'll reply to him. Cheers -

Ah, my old manta ray pic. Nice to see it again! -
Your on! I'm counting on kit splitters to do their thing and do it quickly.

Your right and here's further proof of how pants this thing looks I think the body set looks cool but just not on this chassis.

Yeah security guards that I have encountered tend not to have a sense of humour and sense of adventure. I remember running my Frog in the tech park carpark when I first got it and was quickly booted out by the security guard who accused me a vandalising the gravel carpark with my 2wd buggy. I called him a rent-a-cop and told him to get a life. The Dragon series truly was a massive mistake by Tamiya in my opinion. They had such momentum from their 1986 releases and just didn't capatilise. Speaking of spaceships, I had a brain explosion yesterday and bought one of these:- Why?? I don't really know. I saw it on ebay, chucked a bid on and then got notification that I won. I previously had one, which sat in its box for over a year before being traded for my ultima. I guess I kinda regretted getting rid of it as it's quite a historic release for Tamiya i reckon. It was the first 2nd generation 4wd buggy they released and a lot better to drive from many peoples opinon. This time i will build it and run it. I got the bonus wing set for it which makes the car look a lot better I think. Will have to wait a little bit longer for an Avante now -
Bring on the Gold wheels and pin spike tyres. The only things i need to restore my original.

I'd imagine security guards are a problem when running in underground car parks? They seem to be everywhere. That's nice of Nigel to send you his head! Yeah it's really me- no one has hacked me! In defense, the avante isn't filthy, ugly but mean and sexy looking. Atleast I can look at it for more than a minute without gagging! -

That's right, you own an avante 2011 don't you. I lose track of what you own! It's one sexy looking buggy (and I don't like spaceship looking buggies). I think the challenge of building such a complex kit is the biggest appeal. Are you gonna run it once built Brad? -

If painting and decaling arent you favourite things to do, F1 bodies will drive you nuts! It was a complete pain in the you know what to do the body. Building the chassis was fun though. My next investment will prob be an Avante 2011. They look so cool and building one seems like a badword of a challenge. -

Yep me too. Beach running could be a little tough with holiday crowds swarming the beaches. Will have to find a secluded spot. Id say if the weather is ok we will do off-road as we all have more off-road cars but if the weather is rubbish, then on-road is the goer. -
Wow and wow! That second one is called the apache c1 I believe. I'd buy them both. Hooray for realistic looking buggies!!!

Just watched the video on Tamiya blog of this thing running and I have to admit it looks kinda rubbish. It's not the clearest video but something about the car doesnt look right. It's a shame cause i thought the boxart pic looked really cool. I hope im wrong and it looks better once some higher quality pics are available but I seriously have my doubts.

Most Aussie hobby shops aren't interested in stocking Tamiya stuff nowadays anyway. I believe some of the reason for it is because of a certain distributor who makes life hard. Perfect opportunity for someone to import some Tamiya parts and resell I reckon. I have run a couple of times at the track behind the sunnybank sports club- kinda on the border of macgregor and eight mile plains. It's not bad although it's a little narrow. Took some photos when I was there. Will chuck them up later on. -

Yep, another Brisbane rc shop to bite the dust. Unfortunately non-competitive pricing, limited range and the up and down nature of the hobby strikes again. Rc is still quite a niche market over here compared to overseas. I remember when you could walk into toy world or a hobby shop and it would be wall to wall Tamiya kits. What a shame the shops over here haven't really embraced the rebirth of the classic Tamiya kits. The ones that do stock a limited range are ridiculously over-priced. I remember walking into rc warehouse at springwood before it bit the dust to buy a battery. They had a re-re frog for 330 dollars. I'd just bought mine for half the price from overseas. When I told the clown that worked there what I paid for it, he said "no one is interested in old tamiyas so we don't really care if we sell any to be honest". Famous last words me thinks. -

Something makes me think it closed down. I could be wrong but I thought I read it somewhere.
