on road sounds good, so does Boondall, but Boondall would probably have to be a Sunday trip for me as its a fair hike.

@Retro rules!  what do you think?

@cottontail  would you be keen to join in?

and over Christmas, we are holidaying up at the Sunshine Coast from the 27th to the 29th. Anyone keen for a get together with Mark @ap6318   if he is available?

I was thinking maybe Thorneside as it's been a few years.

I don't have much to run on tarmac - only the FAV as it has the kit tyres and an old drift car which is in pieces and has no electrics.

Happy to probs sit this one out if you guys want to do an on-road meetup though.

ok, this is annoying, have come down with a head cold, so not too sure if I will make it tomorrow. I'm not feeling too bad at this stage, but I also don't want to pass anything on.

I have 3 children- you can't give me anything they won't give me eventually so I'm cool if come along with a cold.

Did we settle on a time? I thought around 10 or 11?

And did we settle on Underwood Park?

only downside from memory was compartment access to the speed controller and servo was a pain

hmm, good to know, but I am on a self imposed ban from buying any more kits, unless its a Lamborghini Cheetah at a good price.

Yeah, its still sealed but given electronics are way different now, I think it shouldn't be much of a pain hopefully.

Yeah, I don't really have the room for many more kits considering I also keep the boxes!

very nice, I had one back in the day (still have it), they are good fun to drive.

Yeah, I hear plenty of good things about them.

Got it from a guy at Kuraby who sells kits on Ebay and FB Marketplace - RC One.

Has kits and a few other things. Nice to have a local seller again since Vintage RC Speed Supplies moved north!

The Javelin is a nice runner, and keen to see how the Baja King goes, I have one in parts waiting for a rebuild one day.

As for location, I am liking Underwood, only because it's a lot closer, but otherwise I'm happy to go where ever. I was hoping to do some driving with my daughter and have a look at a few places, but too much work on. I suspect I'll be working next weekend too, but I'll make time and still come.

I'll bring my go-pro, not too sure how that will go as its been years since I last used it.

Let's give Underwood Park a go. It's also closer for me.

I think Peter was also keen on Underwood Park as well.

No forecast of rain for the week so we should be all good.

    Hopefully we'll see you there.

so, what's the verdict then on the location? Keep it at Thornside or go to the Underwood one?

I've managed to prep 4 new cars. I seem to have stored my batteries properly this time, but my original Flysky RC controller was becoming a bit flaky, now sorted with a new FS-GT3C version.

Nice selection of runners Johann! Just love the look of the Scorpion. I'll have to finally bite the bullet and run this at some stage soon:

I'll bring the Losi DB, a few Tamiya goodies including this Baja King which I got a while ago:

I've chucked some better electronics in it and it's ready to go.

I'm not fussed on where we go. The carpark at the top end of Underwood park isn't very big so just beware in case there are a bunch of people mountain biking it could be a bit tight for parking.

From my experience, that area doesn't get a heap of use unless there is a training event on which there isn't anything listed.

I'll bring my camera along as well.

that looks promising, I say pencil it in for a future run after Thornside. To be honest I'd be to happy try and run semi-regularly, maybe once month or so, work permitting.

There's a decent sized grass area to the left of the jumps and dirt area so plenty of room even if its full of mountain bikers. To be honest, most riders go off into the trails. There's a mob that do the occasional skills training meets there but other than that, it's pretty deserted.

Yep, definitely keen to meet up more than once every 5 years! Happy to work in with everyone's availability. Now that the kids are getting older, life is getting a little easier in terms of freedom for old hobbies.

I'm still keen, I've dusted off one car, a Rising Storm and  so far and have 1 working battery. I should also have a Kyosho Scorpion to run, and maybe one or two other cars if I get time to set them up.

Ooh, a Scorpion will be nice to watch in action. I have a (not so) new built Javelin that I'm too chicken to run.

I may have found another potential place to run in the future. This is the backend of Underwood Park where the MTB skills track is.

I remember seeing it a a couple of years ago when I was there on a ride and thinking that it would be a good spot to run cars.

Ducked over there this morning with the DB to check it out and have a quick blast. Very vintage friendly.

    Hey Johann.

No problem mate. Ive still got my old email vintagercspeedsupplies@gmail.com for anyone that wants to stay in touch. I've changed jobs since COVID so have a new phone number.

    Hey Paul

Cheers mate. I'm not on FB so have lost touch with all the vintage crew. Good to hear Ian is still around as well.

I'm trying to move some plans around to maybe make the trip down on the 21st so please keep updating time and place.

Will be great to all catch up again.

That would be awesome if you can make it on the 21st.

I think at this stage we are for around 10ish at Thornside.

    Hey Legends!

It has been way too long! Good to see you’re all doing well and have dusted your cars off.

I’m up at Caloundra still and have my cars sitting on the shelf. Not sure how my batteries are going to hold up.

I won’t be able to make the 21st but would be keen for a Boondall run one day before it gets too hot. Also happy host a beach run if anyone is keen for a drive north.

Reach out if you’re ever up this way.

    Well hello stranger!

Been a long time. Glad to hear you kept some cars as well.

A run at Boondall sounds good. Not really sure what condition the track is in these days as I don't see alot of activtiy on the FB page.

I chat to Ian occassionally via Messenger so I'll have to ask him if he still goes.

A beach run would be fun too.

I just checked them out, seems they started a vintage class in 2023, but doesn't say anything I can see about a vintage track,. Their FAQ says they are open to the public, so could be worth checking out at some stage.

I saw something that mentioned they were going to be building a dedicated track and there was an aerial shot of the current track and a section next to it that said 'under construction'.
