  1. I want a TRF 417 V5 Not sure funds will let me get on this side of xmas thou
  2. Muchmore, Rides or sorex like some of the other questions raised here temp is a factor to what compound you would use. Also what motor are you using running a 4.4 t mod will wear tyres quick than using a 21.5t motor, so a lot of factors you need to take into consideration before purchasing tyres. if it is only for parking lot racing and warm weather use 36's good grip once they get some temp and will give you some life so you are not purchasing tyres reguarly cold = 28's mild-warm = 32's hot = 36's
  3. The Super Champ was my very first car when i was a kid. I regrettably sold it a few years ago to fund getting into onroad racing after being out of RC for 25 years. After selling it too cheap i realised what they are worth. After a few years again chasing one to restore i was able to find one at a reasonable $$$ a few months ago. I was able to restore it,to its original glory. (pics of the build in the vintage thread) I am sure pending $$$$$ that i would get a re re if it came out. The hardest would be to convince the wife, "why do you want another of the same car?" "don't you have enough toys?" blah blah blah you all know the questions

  10. I have one but unfortunately for you I am one of his not willing to part with theirs Good luck on finding one
  11. Thanks for the comments, DJMCNZ if you look down a few more post in this Vintage thread you will see progress shots from beginning and after each lot of changes i made through the restoration. There was a bit to do through the restoration, but that was the fun part of it, repairing bodies, scouring the net for parts, etc so all fun and i am happy of how it turned out. The rear end is stock, that is how teh original SC came out, very heavy rear end, all alloy. The cable ties only allow the rear end to droop so much, now for another restoration
  12. well after months of chasing parts, repairing and painting the body, polishing parts and painting teh driver, i have finally finished teh super champ This was my first ever car when i was a kid and regretably sold it years ago, only when getting back into RC again and realising the silly mistake i did by selling it. finally i found one good enough and cheap enough for a restoration I have two more very minor items to do on it, 1. install an on/off switch, 2. install the tie rod from servo to servo saver, still trying to find one well here it is and i am happy of how it turned out
  13. Yer you are right about the shiny alloy, I should have thrown it around a little first before placeing it on the car. It's going to be ashelf queen rear to the back of the shelf lol
  14. Willy Rear bumper is,a one piece alloy one. Closest I could get to original cast one. From flebay, I can send details if you want, but it is very good quality and a nice piece of work. Unfortunately not genuine but best I can do given the age of the car and how easy they are to break. I remember when I had the super champ as my first car I broke the bumper and my grandfather at the time was a engineer/boiler maker and welded the cast bumper for me at work. I wish he was around to do the same for my broken one
  15. I am thinking box art for the driver, yes very plain!! Not sure might see what I will do, a bit of color is good. I am thinking another week and I should be 100% done ready for the complete pics
  16. well i have a buggy champ and i am nearly finished a restoration of my SuperChamp, so i wanted something else to do afterwards Sand Scorcher would complete my collection, this one maybe a runner so i wanted to play a little with the suspension. It has TRF shocks front and rear of my TC car (spare set). the rears are the perfect size and the fronts i used a B4.1 front shock shafts for the length along with some B4.1 front springs. This is where i am at right now, next step is to get some electronics in it and see how well it handles, then i will get onto the body painting will keep you updated as i do more
  17. well after a few weeks of not much, i have a few more pics. I am just waiting on 2 more servo mounts from OS so i can mount the mechanical speedy and servo. i should be just about finished then. body is painted and decaled, thanks to PandaGFX, i just need to finish painting the driver and lights and mount them 9the wife helps me with the little painting of teh driver, she has a steadier hand than me. so far i am happy with the build and will post final shots when i am 100% complete
  18. I like that when i seen the pic some time ago on RCTECH. good job. My tamiya i have very similar (all blue wiring) thou. Gota love the 415 I have a 415MSX MRE as my VTA car, also a 416x and a 417x for TC great job once again
  19. does any body have a copy of the manual that goes with this. I am sure i had seen it before but could be wrong, i searched but couldnt find it. i want to know how to set it up and where does the little red, white and blue wires soldered to teh diode go to? any help would be good thanks
  20. I like to solder straight to the motor. i have used the gold terminals in a pan car so the wires got to the motor straight and have no tweak in them. I think KO make them they come in 3 different lengths But my TC for racing straight to the motor
  21. Well after a lot of help from people here i am 99% complete i am in need of still to finalise; I x tie rod, i have the ends just need the threaded rod 1 x Gear case, does any body have one of these, when i have started to put it together i have realised some of the threads are worn out. it will be OK for a shelf queen but if i decide to give it a run i will need a gear case. 1 x Rear Shock O'ring???? does any body know the size of this as i might be able to find an aftermarket one. The one on the housing is damaged and no way to tell the size Thanks again for anybody that can help
  22. I have seen some pics of sand scorchers that have coil over shocks on them. I haven't seen clear enough pics to try and see what they are. What I have seen look like TRF touring car shocks and springs!!! What options are there for the sand scorcher to have coil over shocks. When running these do you remove the spring option on the rear?
