  1. You may be right, from what I have seen a lot of these urethanes come as two-pack systems. Yeap, that is the idea. This VHT wheel clear coat I found is a single pack so to speak and just as tough. I don't have a pre-painted truck to try see what removes it.
  2. They also say it's urethane, see for example here (end of first paragraph): https://www.tamiya.com/english/products/56332man_red/index.htm
  3. Oh, thank you. I wonder what polyurethane clear coat Tamiya has used on their pre-painted bodies then, because they make the point it is very durable and scratch resistant. I have tested VHT wheel clear polyurethane, which is tough as nails and goes on Tamiya TS paint without problems, so I will probably use that.
  4. Just a quick question about this clear coat. I would like to know if it is a polyurethane type coating or at least how hard wearing/scratch resistant it is. User experience? Tamiya mentions in the description of some of their 1/14 pre-painted trucks that they have a polyurethane coating on top of the paint. It wouldn't be TS13 per chance? I am looking at painting a truck cab for my son and would like to make it as tough as possible because I know it is going to be abused.
  5. Thank you. Can't get anything from overseas now, but good to know. Although, if that 2k works, I would guess any 2k will. Will see what I can get locally and probably run some tests.
  6. I recently purchased a Tamyia 1/14 truck and wanted to paint it with a hard wearing coat. Looking at some of their kits, they are already painted and the blurb says they have a urethane coating for durability. I have tried to look around to find something but Tamiya is tight lipped about it. Does anyone know what is this this urethane coating? I then tried to see what their TS paints are to figure out what urethane coating could go on top. Not much success there either apart from what it says on the can (Synthetic lacquer), which can be any number of things. For what it's worth, I want to paint the truck in mica red (TS39) and that means there isn't much available in other paints (say automotive, etc). I would also prefer a spray can paint. Any help would be very much appreciated.
