Such a cool and useful mod! Is there a post that further details the build for the Monster Beetle gearbox?

Agreed, the transparent gearbox looks so cool!

aphex4000 started following [debate] Monster Beetle or Squash Van for my 2nd build?
-
Yeah, it can all add up pretty quick and at the end of the day it will still perform like a vintage kit. This guy on IG is trying to modernize the chassis and is dealing with the annoying drive shaft chatter as well. I actually prefer driving my G6-01 over the ORV, but the Monster Beetle will always have a nostalgic place in my heart!

That Super Levant reminds me of another oddball kit from Tamiya, the Vajra (58497). The two were only released a couple years apart and seem to offer entry level and high-end options just like the Vanquish and Avante did.

What an awesome video. The city is especially beautiful and the Lunchbox just looks so cool driving around in it!

I've never heard of this universal joint issue with the Monster Beetle, and thought the driveline parts for the Monster Beetle and Blackfoot were the same. I definitely notice some chatter/vibration at the bottom of the suspension travel since the one end of the driveshaft has a CV joint (referring to the 2015 re-re) while the other is a universal joint. Will switching to the Blackfoot driveshaft address this issue? I would love to get rid of all that chatter and vibration!

100% Agreed! The performance of modern batteries blows everything from the vintage era out of the water. By undersized I'm referencing only the physical dimensions compared to a typical 6-cell pack.
-
Thanks, tim.senecal and Ziddan! Don't know why it never occurred to me to use an undersized battery like a 3S made for drones, but that could definitely work. I'll see what I can find, then test out the toughness of that MIP ball diff!

I know AMPro makes a ton of goodies for the ORV platform, but is anyone out there making a chassis that will accomodate a 3S LiPO?
-
Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere, but where can I get a set of those aluminum steering blocks? My ball joints keep backing out slowly and these would be a great upgrade!
