  1. Nice one guys, thanks for all the replys. I'll look out for the four wheel steering stuff. Many thanks again and have a good Christmas All the best Chris.
  2. Thanks for the replys once more guys. FOur wheel steering doesn't sound like it would be easy. DO you have details of it anywhere ?? Thanks again Chris.
  3. Thanks for the reply Jeff Yeah, The gearbox does come pre assembled but it also comes to bits It has what looks like the exact same diff as my TL01 Escort WRC but I think the Ball Diffs for these were the centre diffs and not the ones at the wheels. I just wondered if there is another model that has a Ball diff option that can be used inside the gearbox or even if there are parts of another that you can mix and match to create one. My son would like the BFX to do donuts Thanks again Chris.
  4. Hi guys, Hope someone can help. After a lot of searching and trying various Ball Diffs I had lying around the house, (none of which fitted). Can anyone tell me which ball diff if any will fit into the BFX TL01B ?? gearbox ? Many thanks Chris.
  5. Once again guys, thank you for your input. Much appreciated. I don't have any lying around the house so 35wt it is Cheers Chris.
  6. Looking for some advice again. I posted previously about aftermarket dampers/shocks for a Blackfoot Xtreme and was looking at some Yeah Racing ones but they don't come with damper oil ! They come with three sets of springs: Soft Medium and Hard. I know it's a million dollar question but what would be a decent grade of oil to start with for an offroader in terms of viscosity anyone any recommendations ?? I realise it depends on spring rate but as I haven't a clue how thick or thin each oil is, where would be the best starting point as I'll need to buy some with the shocks ? Or does it really not matter that much ??? Thanks in advance for the advice Cheers Chris.
  7. Thanks for the tips Percymon. Cheers Chris.
  8. Hi Guys, Was just after some advice. Got my boy a Blackfoot Extreme out of the local papers and after altering a few bits and pieces I've now come to the suspension. He likes to jump the thing but the stock shocks seem a little inadequate to say the least. I bought some of the recommended hop up ones 53155 I think they were but they look like they'll be a little on the short side for an Offroader. What shocks have any of you guys used or would recommend that also have some form of damping in them. Thanks Chris.
  9. Thanks for the tips. Cheers Chris.
  10. Thanks for that. So just buy two of whatever ball diffs takes your fancy and slot them in. I bought some carbon rod to make a prop as it cost about half the price of an old one of Ebay (if you could find one) so I'll see how that goes. Also some carbon tube to make some gear shafts. Shame about the body sets, I thought they might offer them again seeing as how they had released the car, (all be it ready built) as they're not the strongest of things and they're bound to get shunted and broken if used. I had heard they were available but no-one can get them
  11. Hi guys, Can anyone answer me a couple of questions regarding the TL-01 chassis. there are two hop up options of different ball diffs 53070 Manta Ray Ball Diff Set 53267 TA03 Ball Differential Is it that one fits the front and one the rear or are they interchangable ? If so is one of them better than the other ? I had looked for a carbon prop 53323 but was told that Tamiya discontinued them even before the chassis was obsolete as they kept fracturing where the pins go through. Does anyone remember if that is definately the case ? Lastly As Tamiya have now released the XB Escort WRC is there anywhere you can obtain new WRC bodyshells from or any plans to release new shells as all the older ones on Ebay seem to be making strong money and if you crash your XB model what do you do for a new body ? Many thanks Chris.
  12. Thanks Alistair. I was going to go easy with the sandpaper as it's just a thin layer of paint. I think it's Airfix/Humbrol enamel for model kits that's on them but I'll probably give that Fashine stuff a try and see what happens. Cheers Chris.
  13. Thanks for the replies. I had tried the caustic soda method which worked for some of the paint but there was obviously different types on the parts as the other stuff wouldn't budge. I have the same problem with my Scorcher driver so I might just rub the remainder off with abrasive as I don't want to risk melting it too !! So many different types of plastics used !!! I'll give the T-cut and sandpaper a try on the chassis plates, Cheers Terry Chris.
  14. Does anyone have any good tips for cleaning up the FRP? chassis that came with the original SRB's as mine has developed that sort of really grubby grease stained look? Also has anyone had any bad experiences in stripping the hard ABS shells etc with brake fluid? I tried stripping paint off my Ranger wheels and the brake fluid seemed to soften the top layer of the plastic which then scraped off along with the paint and now all the parts are a little bit over and under size. Thanks for your replies Chris.
