  1. Thanks, I read this and with new found confidence, I went down stairs last night and shoved it on. Tight fit, I still have the circular mark on my hand now 18 hours later 😕
  2. Hi there, The instructions say you have two pieces to choose from, Futaba and Acoms. Well both are way to small for my Acoms AS-12. I have another Mad Bull original and that is where I got the servo from as I put an ESC in it. That one has the servo saver on fine, I have not taken it off for fear of not getting it back on again. There are servo arms included with the kit, they fit the servo just fine, it's the servo saver part that doesn't fit. I find it hard to imagine that they accidentally put the wrong servo saver in, but given that the arms fit, it does seem the only logical explanation. I am using one of the arms at the moment, which isn't ideal as I've already broken one and have only driven the car three times! https://goo.gl/photos/8fbfhxZWrxo9ngKK9 https://goo.gl/photos/NEdnC1hGrR74eMMU9 https://goo.gl/photos/Lc2kXHE568WYFqj4A
  3. Nobody has any ideas on this Thorp issue, they must be rare. It'll go on Ebay next week then. £35+p&p
  4. Hi, I have one in my Optima Mid SE, stock apart from the EZrun (35a 9t) and some road wheels and tyres. It works like a dream running on NiMh 3300mah. It's plenty fast enough for me, and easily fast enough to destroy itself on the nearest kerb. I mounted mine where the msc servo would go to the underside of the top deck with the fan pointing outwards. I take it easy with the braking from speed and have set the initial punch to a little softer (6 out of 9, default is 7), no funny noises so far, gone through about six or seven packs.
  5. Hey thanks for the links, they arrived today. Am loving the new look, far more up to date for the old girl, also far quieter running around the road too, which should please the neighbours!!
  6. Searched but couldn't see that anybody else had posted this. Please don't post links to live auctions unless they are your own Ahh I see allowed to self promote but not share something or interest. If you search for "Fast Attack Vehicle" in Ebay you'll see what I mean. Looks very similar to the Tamiya model. Make a nice daily driver if you could get an MOT
  7. I took some photos this lunch. It's pretty tatty looking due to the paint, which I quite like, it adds to the vintage demeanor. In terms of condition it's actually unmarked apart from a few scrapes to the gear box, which I have prevented more occuring by putting the metal nose guard on backwards underneath (which I suppose I should have taken a photo of!). The guard was unused, and it's got a good few scrapes now, so it's doing its job.
  8. Thanks for the prompt reply. Forgive my ignorance but are they similar diameter to the off-road wheels? I bought a load of used 1/10 Kyosho road wheels and tyres and they are substantially smaller. I am currently running some disc style wheels with an 850 bearing in-between the hex and wheel to stop it rubbing on the steering arm! Am also running on an old pair of Tamiya off road tyres which I am wearing bald very quickly.
  9. Hey, those wheels and tyres are excellent. I have been looking for ages for some replacement wheels and road tyres for my Optima Mid. Do you have any info on the ones pictured? Thanks.
  10. Hi, First post, have been reading and searching forum for a while restoring my FAV. My parents found my FAV a recently in their attic. Twenty years ago it was given to me complete, but with no gear, and I wasn't allowed to waste my money getting it running when I have a Turbo Optima Mid SE to play with. Now being old and married etc I've finally got it running. The gear box is shimmed with a single washer, a few mm thick I suppose, it doesn't gind, but it's also not the most free wheeling, so I bought a Frog Thorp diff having read numerous recommendations on here about it being the ultimate solution. Problem is that the Counter gear gets jammed on the longer drive shaft, totally locking the gearbox. Do you need a Thorp counter gear or something? From the Thorp manual it jams on the "LH Pressure disc and Thrust bearing Housing". Having looked at the manual for the Frog/Brat etc I can see how this would not be a probem for them. Is it the case that the Frog Thorp diff doesn't actually go in a FAV gearbox? Cheers, Markypea Oh love looking at the carefully restored vehicles on here, makes me feel a bit guilty about the fact that when I was 12 I painted my FAV with my mum's car paint (which itself was 20 years old) and 20 years later it's all flaking off. I'm just happy to be able to finally get the FAV alive again!
