  1. Finally got to work on my Sand Rover and followed your instructions on how to bring the wheels in. Only things I did different were:

    - trimmed the front shock towers so they don't extend past the hood of the body

    - fabricated an additional shock tower so I could cover up the holes on the hood and use extra DF-03ra shocks I had in my spares box

    - trimmed the rear screw pins instead of drilling holes in the chassis

    - used washers instead of spacers and installed the front uprights as far back the A-arms as possible

Now to cover that horrible gap between the chassis and body.

Nicely done on the front shock bracket donut, i like ur idea....

I am also currently in the progress of covering up the holes..... what are you gonna do about the rear?

Now with E3, the wheels is sitting much better right?

I got a idea from another fellow member here on how to cover up the gaps, but as usually, did it with a little changes here n there

    Will post the pixs later

  2. Nice! Which seller did you buy it from to get it so early?
Will this be available in the uk?if so how much and when???????????????????

If it's available elsewere, how much and when????????

    Would realy like one

    My usual seller in SG.

May or may not be available in the UK, im not sure

My seller might still have stock, it under £150 before shipping. PM me if interested and i will hook you up with my seller

  3. Great tutorial. One thing though, I have a spare pair of DF03ra rear arms (part E3 instead of E2). These would seem to work even better since they would bring the front wheels back about a few mm compared to the E2.

hi donut..... thanks for the comment.... took ur advice and swap the front arm from E2 to E3, and it did bring the front wheel back afew mm.... but i did this on the SR as i was happy with the WB of the HB....

  4. following comment from fellow member, donut, i swap the front arm from E2 to E3, and it does bring the front wheel further back afew mm....

  5. Hi Skottoman, which 2.4 r u using? Guessing its Futaba, looking @ ur rx.....

I duno abt futaba...but i have guys over here who r using Spektrum DX6 & DX8 and they dun have any issue

Perhaps u could search up on it...

    Btw....nice truck.....

  6. Great build, I bought the Holiday buggy but this looks suck much cooler - are the body mounts exactly the same as I would like to get just the body if thats the case
I am pretty sure both types of mounts are in both kits, so just go ahead and get a SR shell for your HB. :)

i dun have the manual nw... but i dun remember having the mount for SR in the HB...need to chk if u need to know :)

  7. Been awhile since i last update this thread....n my oh my...... Since when did my build become someone else build thread? :(

Anyway..... Got around to change the bevel gears to spline and narrow down the width of it.....but was met with afew small teething problems.... Will have to go look thur again to find some solutions......

    Photos will take over now.......

  8. hi guys just read my instructions prior to starting my first build.

noticed the kit according to the parts list comes with 3 X "MD2 BUSHES".

in section 2 it shows you to cut 1 MD2 in half and insert in MR15 (rear gearbox)no problem.

then in section 19 again cut 1 MD2 in half and put in the front gearbox propeller joint.no problem

do you put the other half in the rear gearbox propeller joint as it does not appear to instruct you to do so???? :o

also in section 7 there is no instructions to put the final "MD2" in MR15(front gearbox) IS THIS CORRECT???

is the 3rd MD2 BUSH a spare??

apart from the above the instructions seem ok

    cheers a first timer

in section 2, u r suppose to cut the MD2 in half and insert each half in the Left & Right MR15, so both the MR15's has a MD2 in it.

in section 19, its up to u if u wish to insert the other MD2 half to the rear.

as for the 3rd MD2, yes, its spare.....

    hope tis will help

    regards,

  9. Looking good.

I am interested in what you have done with the shocks. The manual for the HB2010 has the rubber tube inside the shock body, rather than visible under the spring. Is the manual different for the SR, or is there an advantage to setting them up this way?

The manual is almost same for both the HB n SR, though the instruction of the shock on the SR asked that you cut additional pieces of the rubber tubing and installed them on the shaft too.

The only reason i can think of is to limit the travel, if not, the tires will be rubbing on the bodyshell.

  10. I honastly do not think the holes are a problem or the track.

Firstly let us all remember the HB 2010 and the SR 2011 are basic entry level kits clearly aimed at beginers/new commers to the hobby.

NOT collectors and enthusiastic older more experienced modellers.

Also with the cost of tooling and whats happened in Japan Tamiya need to make money as easily and as quickly as possible.

I understand that the HB and SR is not too most people's liking but they will be mostly sold in Japan and its neighbouring Countries.

WE are not Tamiya's main market.

They have a DT02 championship in most of the Countries over that way. (wish we had one)

Now I have said all this before and it killed the thread, most likely as people cannot handle the fact it is true.

Let us all embrace the HB 2010 and SR 2011 for what they really are ............. Fun cars !

I will be getting one, maybe two. love it !

Big thanks to Des for the fab build pics

Actually.....i dont a hoof abt the holes too...heeheeeheee....i will juz play they hard and change anything that breaks cause thats what they are suppose to be.....heheeee...but knowing other fellow members will try to mod it..... I tot... Why not? Give myself the challenge the cover the holes, narrow the width, etc and anything that i can do with it.....

    Anyway.... Thanks for the comment....
