  1. Cooling was my other concern but I'd rather not cut more holes into it at its primarily meant to stop debris getting underneath. If its a problem I have an idea to fix a section of aluminium onto the inside of the cover that angles down and rests directly onto the ESC's "hot plate", turning the whole cover into an extension of the heat sink. I noticed how well the aluminium collected and dissipates heat when I was cutting it with the dremel so this could be a neat solution to that problem.

It holds itself in place as I've bent the side walls in a little further than necessary. You can just about make it out in the 4th picture down where its upside down. You need to flex the sides outwards slightly to ease it over the tub and it then springs back gripping the sides nicely. That coupled with the antenna tube being thread through a hole secures it in place perfectly, yet it can still be easily removed and there's no body pins to loose or tools required.

I'm quite impressed with it really. I'm tempted to market this myself if I can find a regular supply of aluminium, just not sure how much demand there would be for such an item.

Wouldn't it be easier juz to get a DT02 buggy shell n cover it. I did that for my DF03Ra,fit nicely n neatly.

    Refer to this

  2. That's some very nice work there. Just a quick thought. Would it be possible to use TT-01 drive shafts for the rear, then you wouldn't need to replace the bevel gears in the diff or the drive cups ?? (The original drive cups look the same size as TT-01)

That's crying out for a set of sand scorcher wheels and tyres :)

TT drive shaft might work, but you will have problem w e dogbones length..... I dun have any TT drive shaft dogbones laying ard to try out

Its possible to use the srb wheels n tyres, juz change the rear drive axles to those found on the rere-frog,brat,grasshopper.....

Look to 101 for the mod instruction

  3. Is this different to the way the the 101 guys have done theirs?

I'm kinda hoping Tamiya milk the HB2010 for all it's worth with a variety of body colours in the same way they are doing with the Buggy Champ. :)

There's a slight differ to 101, they are using the hard to find original wheels n tires, rere frog/brat rear axles to go along w it, cutting down the front lower arm, changing the shock tower......

Mi idea is to reduce the width while using back as much stock parts as possible.

  4. Bevel gears, cups, dogbones:

Because we have narrowed down the width, the stock dogbones and cups cant be used anymore.

This is what i have done to changed and make everything work

Firstly, if you have already fix up the HB2010, too bad, you have to remove it to access the gears... For those who is only starting the build,do this 1st to ease the mod.

    Stock HB 2010 gears

    a14af1ff.jpg

Change the stock bevel gear to splined bevel gear (bottom stock, top new)

You can get these from either DT-02, DF-03, TL-01 spare parts,

    5ba44a40.jpg

Stock cups compare with new cups

    70e86100.jpg

    3cdf35a1.jpg

Install back as per normal, for the dogbones, u will need 48mm length

    fa9c747c.jpg

  5. Rear End: (before you do this, change the bevel gear, cups and dogbones first)

Remove the lower and upper arms, shocks like the front End

    bed9cfab.jpg

Next, use E1 of the DF03Ra suspension arm

    34f7c57b.jpg

    Noted the direction

Install the rear upright,at the top, install a 5mm ball connector nut with 3x16mm screw, as shown

    e22bf62a.jpg

Because the DF03Ra arm is shorter, you will need to drill a hole as shown for the screw to pass thru.

    05cb6cad.jpg

Up to now, you might have noticed then my cups have been changed, detail of that will be cover later.

Using a 3x18mm threaded shaft,5mm adjuster,5mm ball connector nut and a 18mm screw, install as shown

    d7885285.jpg

Install the stock shock as shown

    f424ed35.jpg

Do the same for the other side.

  6. Front end:

    Original

    77b5f21f.jpg

Remove everything out, the lower arm, upper arm, shock,

Using E2 of the DF03Ra suspension arm

    d7be04d5.jpg

    1 x 5mm ball connector

    f014915b.jpg

    And get this

    b8484aaf.jpg

Fix back the new arm using the stock screw

    Next,the new upper arm,

    Uses 2 x 5mm ball connector nut, 1 x 18mm threaded shaft, 2 x 5mm adjuster, 1 x 16mm screw, 1 x 18mm screw

    a33bc66b.jpg

    24a3a7a4.jpg

    Fix up as shown

Next the existing upright, fix its back and add 1 x 3mm spacer and 1 x 1.5mm spacer to the side

    49babbe4.jpg

Connect back the upper arm to the upright

    e264a065.jpg

Next, the shock, using a 5mm ball connector, fix it back to the tower, using the existing position and install back the shock

    127f2ab1.jpg

Do the same on the other side

    27343a84.jpg

For the steering arm, uses back the shorter existing arm, the other side, uses a 42mm threaded shaft, 5mm adjuster, and measure till you get 28.5mm

  7. Firstly, this is how the HB2010 look like when i first build it

    6fe29e38.jpg

And this is how it look like it now

  9. Hi guys,

Need some help with regards to doing a restoration project for my mountaineer.... Having to stripped down the whole chassis,i found some wore out screws, rusty screws....you get the idea.... Question is, must i use back all the old screws or can i change them to modern hex screws? Would doing that hurt the value of the vintage?

    Thanks,

  12. "Global Pack"? That's not the name of the courier service/shipping company I hope - never heard of it... Popular shipping companies in the Netherlands are: TNT Post, DHL, UPS, Fedex. "Global Pack" sounds like it could be one of TNT's services, but likely not Express mail (IIRC, that's "Global Express").

If you can't track it outside the Netherlands, it likely was sent by regular registered mail, which suffered MASSIVE delays in October-December 2010 due to the weather being snowy (5 cm of snow effectively halted my country ^_^ ). You should ask the sender to phone the shipping company's customer service and have them track the parcel. The post office is ineffective, as the clerks often are rather clueless.

it was sent via TNT Post. Global Pack was the type of postage the seller used. The site i used to track the item is www.tracktrace.nl

The seller had gone to the Post office and file an enquiry about the item but nothing came up. i cant contact or email TNT Post to enquiry too......

So i should ask the seller to directly call up the TNT Post and find out who is the shipping company and enquire about it?

i am rather puzzled that the Post office cant find out who they had engaged to do the shipping and get them to track the item

  13. If the package already left the sending country(Netherland), it is faster and easily to ask your local post office(Singapore)for help. But since in your case, your local post office has no information, there is no way but to ask your seller to file a formal enquiry from the sending office. That way, the Netherland post will contact with Singapore post and try to locate your package.

Seller has filed a formal enquiry with the netherlands post office,n that was abt two months back,no updates on that too

  14. how was it sent... i assume minimum Registered Post? & you've got the item #?

go speak to your local Post Office too, if your postmaster/mistress is helpful they'll can start an inquiry search

i know SingaporePost was a real mess over xmas 2010, they were running late on everything

and 1 parcel we had sent out of SG took 5 wks to get to Australia... previously be about 5d!

i recently had to do the same here... EMS parcel from JP, waiting for 4wk+.

When i got the tracking # searched online, said parcel had arrived within 3d of sending.

My LPO searched and found it in the back room, been sitting there 3wks 'uncollected'!!

its was sent via "Global Pack" with a item # given.

i have called up SingaporePost a few times already, and their reply is the item is not yet in singapore .... ^_^

    based on the item #, i have checked it daily and the status remains as the same;

    25.10.2010:

    Parcel sorted at sorting centre

    26.10.2010:

Parcel sent to country of destination

    no further update was given
