They are indeed. Even with the increased offset from the beadlocks, I'll have to dial back the steering (or trim the tires: decisions) -

Looking forward to your update, although I don't look forward to spending even more money on mine! -
I have a cheapy version of those Klein flush cutters. Glad I know a real company makes a version too

So I've got that ancient Kyosho gold shock (from an Optima Mid, it's that old) on there as a third shock. Cycling the suspension, the axle hits it at full compression. I don't like that. So I got to thinking. Why does it need a spring? I keep reading that it has to be a spring, and can be done with a friction damper. I'm thinking the opposite. It's my opinion that this really needs to be a shock absorber only. Just a decently stiff oil shock to resist rapid movement. Or one at each end. -

My new shoes for the Lunchy. Might end up as shelf tires. -

My 3d printed CPE beadlocks and RC4WD Mud Slinger. Quite a chore installing all those screws -

Almost. 57 Chevy. This is my favorite rc body. I prefer to use older bodies on clods. I have a 67 F100 and a 72 Chevy also -

Ok. I'm trying to post pics to my thread about my Clodbuster build. I cannot post pics. I'm using my Samsung galaxy s3. I click on the "add file" icons and select what I want to post, but it never takes. Also, I have to go into the full version of the website. Mobile version gives me no option to post a pic. I'm pretty sure I'm not stupid. Is this punishment for not using tapatalk? It was recommended I use Photobucket, but that was just a total waste of time

My Clod Buster: take 2
emory70 replied to neverfollow's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I only come here and on RCMT (hope that's not a faux pax). I enjoy rc for the fun of it. I like to create, to build. I love and hate Traxxas. I love the technology and quality that they helped usher into the industry. But the instant gratification irritates me. Just watch a random video of a Clod. Some jerk will say what a piece of garbage it is and how his e maxx can outdo it. -

Glad I found TC for just that reason. I never liked hobby shops anyway. But in this new era of box stock 100mph cars... the internet is my only source of info -

Love the fender flares, but I must second the above comment -

Clodbuster brushless setup

I'm gonna run dual batteries in mine, but the Predator has dual battery slots. It'd be a shame not to use both! -
Sorry. No. I just used 1/2"x1/8" flat aluminum. Drilled holes for mounting to suspension arms, and then marked for shock mounting.

Looks fabulous. -
You can make up new lower shock mounts quite easily with some aluminum. That's what I did with mine. Just moved the lower mount point out closer to the wheel

Lunchbox/midnight pumpkin rims are specific. You're kinda stuck with stockers unless you want to step up to 2.2 -
When I built my wide willy, I ran Pro Line Speed Hawgs with a trinity 9 turn. Never saw dirt again.

Clodbuster brushless setup
emory70 replied to Jamesssb's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
If you go brushless, you'll have to use a separate esc for each motor. I just went through the "what do I get?" question with mine. I contacted Tekin and Novak directly for recommendations. I don't care to go real fast. I'm more interested in power. Both companies recommended around 3100kv on 2S 50C 5000mAh batteries. For real speed, most mod Clod builders go for 4600-5400kv, still on 2S 50C 5000mAh -
I've had 3 different modified Clods for the past few years. Just recently pulled the trigger and started getting serious with this one. Chassis is a CPE Predator. Shocks are G Made 103mm piggybacks. RC4WD lockers in both axles. Wheels are CPE 3D printed beadlocks, tires are RC4WD Mud Slingers. Motors are Tekin 3100kv brushless and ESCs. Batteries are SMC. Body is my all time favorite, the Parma 57 Chevy pickup. Gonna try and get pics up as soon as I can. Emory
