  1. I've always been a monster truck kind of guy, so my recommendations are gonna lean that way every time. I'd say Lunchbox with a Lexan body or a stock Clod. Yes, I know Clods can be money pits, but they are a great platform to grow with. And nothing is more fun to watch than a Lunchbox trying to stay rubber side down
  2. And centrifugal force will expel most detritus that enters.
  3. It's hard to make a 67 look like a 62, but it's looking good.
  4. x2 on the wheels. Sawblades are so dated.
  5. Pez? Now that's creative. Bravo.
  6. I remember reading an article in RCCA back in the day about dying one of those chassis. The guy wrote that although he was able to get the color right, the boiling water warped the chassis. I'm enjoying your build. I'm about to start a Monster Beetle build myself, and planning on using many of the hop ups you have.
  7. Just my opinion, but I get bored with the beater look. I agree with the exposed tires look suggested by Kevin
  8. I just wish somebody would make a 2wd front beadlock
  9. Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't the Scorcher suspension use torsion bars? Why use coil over springs, instead of just oil shocks?
  10. On a GF01 with a Wild Willy body? I'd have those tires
  11. Decided to just order a Brat and a Scorcher body. Ultimate Monster Beetle begins soon
  12. Nice build. I'm thinking about one myself. My first hobby rc was a Monster Beetle back in 87. It was painfully stock, and I never broke anything. Eventually I had the JG shock mounts, CRP skid plates, and a full Thorp ball diff and dogbone conversion. Never had more than a stock motor. Ran the thing 5 minutes with the Thorp and broke an axle. Pitched the whole conversion back into the parts box and went back to stock.
  13. I'd not seen those before
  14. So I'm really partial to the Tamiya Baja Bugs. Had a Monster Beetle back in the 80s. All these beautiful Sand Scorchers make me want to build another Baja. So I'm looking around at options: rere Sand Scorcher, modified Frog, and Blitzer Beetle. And then I had an idea. I had a Wild Willy 2 when they first came out, and did the Wide Willy mod to it. Well, how about building a Blitzer Beetle and doing the opposite? Make it narrow enough to fit the tires in the fenders. Is this reasonable, is it old news, or am I way off the reservation?
  15. Seriously, for what parts are going for on ebay, I'd prefer to buy complete kits and part out what I don't need (as if I'd ever sell any rc parts)
  16. For a long time now I've been looking for different tire options for the Lunchbox. The stock tires are fine, but just a bit boring. On ebay last week I found these from a seller in Taiwan, I believe (hobbybaby88). Has anyone seen, touched, felt these tires?
  17. One of my lunchboxes is going to be a zombie theme, but a zombie hunter truck that's been taken by the zombies (like the "smart" zombies in Land of the Dead)
  18. There's a guy on ebay selling a sassy copy. Looks decent in the pics, and he has many versions (stock, two battery version, extended wb, 6x6...)
  19. A while back I scored some vintage Imex jumbo tires and wheels for a Lunchbox/Blackfoot. The ridiculous Clodbuster size tires. I want to run them on one of my Lunchboxes, but I know they will be a terrible strain on the poor truck. On ebay, I found seller RC LOVERR that sells aluminum steering blocks. Has anyone else used these?
  20. If you haven't been there already, RCMT is the best place for that kind of info. Very knowledgeable, good folks over there.
  21. I let it go. I'm no restorer or flipper
  22. Really? I may assumed it was a sand scorcher. Shows what I know. I'll probably get it if I can, but I'll probably pass it along to a collector
