My buddy got the itch to build an original rc10 shelf queen. Then the re re cars hit the market and he lost all interest. I bought his stash. Just waiting for him to find all the parts and send them.
Still remember the magazine ads with Jay Halsey and the "full size" rc10.

For a long term build, I'd search and search for the right body. For this buildoff, I'm keeping it simple.

Right now I'm looking at a $400+ build. I'll get it running and go from there.

For those who are considering dropping out, please reconsider. Just a simple Google search for "movie cars" can bring up images of things you never thought of.
Charger from Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, semi from Big Trouble in Little China, load of choices from all the Cannonball Run movies and clones. Cheech's Impala from Up in Smoke. Jeff Spicoli's VW van from Fast Times: just paint a Tamiya wheelie bus red and yellow and put a smoke machine inside.

My project is based on an overpowered 2wd hot rod pickup, that is then modified for other nefarious activities. Destruction and ill handling are actually requirements of this build.

Looks like I'll be using a long wheelbase CC-01 for my winter buildoff ride. A major consideration is power. I'll be converting it to rwd only, and I need to overpower it a pretty decent amount. I'm not talking 6s or anything, but I do want to go brushless, and it's gotta be fast.
How hard can I push a CC-01 before I destroy it?

Looking for advice on my idea.
My current two choices both require a solid axle rwd chassis. I'm not sure what Tamiya chassis I should start with. Without giving away my ideas, I'm looking to build in a classic American hot rod/drag race style. I don't think a hornet/lunchbox rear will work. the Hi Lift is just to industrial, and I don't think the cc-01 will work as rwd only.
The easiest would be an rc4wd trail stomper, but since that's not a Tamiya...

I thought I had a brilliant idea, a Cannonball Run ambulance, out of a lunchbox, obviously. Then I saw there's a seller on ebay making perfect decal sheets for it. Just too easy for a buildoff.

When I talked my mom into getting me an rc, there were three at the lhs. Clodbuster, Blackfoot, and Monster Beetle.
