  1. So my wife is out this evening and the children are all asleep......woooohooooo! Finally i managed to get the winch set-up together and I feel this project is starting to come together. This was quite a challenge and alot harder than I expected. Initally I tried attaching the winch as is but it just didn't sit right, so I googled 'winch bracket', the fog started to clear and I tried a different approach resulting in this... sorry pictures are not great I also wanted to modify the front bumper so it has a more scale look and sits better with the winch. I removed a 20mm section either side, essentially shortening it and removed the side parts altogether. Actually this was alot easier than i expected... Oh, and I finally got the hang of posting decent size potos on the forum via photobucket; just need to get them in focus now...
  2. Really neat Rob' I like this one alot! Will the red and blues flash?
  3. With each project you tackle your raising the bar higher! That's quite a collection of scale builds and projects you must have now, so assuming there is a TC meet in 2013, I'd like to suggest we make it a weekend residential TC masterclass at Skottoman's house
  4. Very nice Rob; this one's coming along a treat! your skills with the styrene are so good. i'm working on some parts for my FAV project (winch mounting, jerry can etc), and i often refer to your threadds for inspiration / ideas. Oh and the centre console is the nuts!! keep it up :-)
  5. So a little more (slow) progress... I would like to make some decals for the project, the main one being for the spare wheel cover which at the moment looks like this... I'm not sure about the number at the bottom - sequentially it's the next number after the one quoted on the M38 so i'll dwell on it for now (ironically I have no qualms about 'Fast Attack Willy', though I know i'll get stick for it ). In the meantime I want to start work on the winch; i know what i want to do, just need to crack-on. But first a 5 day break with the family at Centre parcs
  6. Great work as always, well done. look forward to seeing the location shots over on the main page...
  7. Hi all, I've create a Rough Rider Buggy Champ S.I.G. over on the main page. Please see the link below and contact me if you'd like to join. thanks http://www.tamiyaclu...mber.asp?id=231
  8. A canvas roof!!! No pressure but.............you're going to have to have it open (you have the skills) and that means an interior :D . Really enjoying this build; keep at it
  9. Another inspiring project, great work so far.
  10. Excellent! Another Willy project on the boil, and so far looking really good. I didn't realise you had so many Willy-based projects, fantastic group shot. If i had to pick a favourite it would be the tank, closely followed by the Clod. looking forward to seeing your latest creation develop...
  11. That rules-out a brushless set-up then
  12. Thanks mate, I think you're right. I've been playing around this afternoon and look what fits inside...
  13. Some time ago I won a Wild Willy wheel cover on eBay, except when it arrived it became apparent that it wasnt from a WW at all. I believe it is from the Pajero and although at the time I was disapointed and contemplated binning it (was only 99p) I put it away for another day... As it turns out that was probably a wise decision. I purchased a WW2 wheel cover but it's way too big to fit on the back of the FAV, and as it turns out the 'Pajero' wheel is just right size (sounds like something Goldilocks would say) Using what I had to hand I decided to fit the wheel using the following parts; 2 x M3 x 40mm bolts FAV part A9 Grasshopper part A8 (cut into three pieces with the middle section discarded). The end result; a bit rough-and-ready but does the job I might cover up the underside to make the wheel cover more realistic, I'm not sure; maybe a bit OTT. Will see...
  14. Haha, yes patience is not something i'm good at. That's whats making this both an enjoyable and frustrating experience at the same time Thanks for the comments chaps, I'll keep at it!
  15. Very nice detailing; this keeps getting better. how much do you have left to do or does the list keep getting longer?
  16. Fuel cell finished, just needs fixing onto the chassis and paint; I've got some 2mm tubing for the fuel lines to add a finsihing touch. I was a bit stuck for the filler cap, but a trip to B&Q resulted in the purchase of some screw cap covers and i think it works pretty well. Next, I'll be working on the spare wheel cover and positioning the winch.
  17. Super looking truck! Really like the livery; it works so well. Great work Bromvw!
  18. Really enjoying this thread, and each time a have a look something new pops up. i particulalry like the boot-knife and the whip arial; i might have to borrow the latter idea
  19. Wheels and tyres are done and look pretty good. i'll post pics soon. In the meantime i've started work on the fuel cell. Still plenty to do, but this is where I'm up to now...
  20. Things have been a little hectic of late! my Wife gave birth to twins in early June and if they weren't enough to keep us busy we moved house in August. Needless to say there's not been much time for Willy, but I am coming back to this build now determined to finish it ... To get me back into it I'm starting ith something pretty straight forward; wheel assembly. For this I'll be using the following parts; Jun Watanabe wheels for the Hornet Rear Padlatraks modified front padlatraks courtesy of SRB Bloke - thanks Steve HPI cap head scews M2 x 8mm HPI cap head screws M2 x 10mm HPI M2 nuts Tamiya 4mm Black anodised lock nuts more to follow...
  21. If there is a TC 2013 meet then I can see there being a lot of black boxes on the sarting line for the Lunchie racing The release of a special edition is great news, not just for the kit but also the spares that come with it, i.e. black wheels and shell etc. I love the black wheels for Jun Watanabe Hornet and wonder why Tamiya never released black wheels before then? Glad they have now though...
  22. Well unless the piston rods are bent I would suggest that they can be rebuilt. The shocks are renowned for leaking oil but I understand the re-re versions are not much better, so for the price you'd pay for new you may as well rebuild the old. Anyway one way to get round them leaking is to mount them upside down.
  23. Wow! Thanks for the link Percymon. An amazing technique, I would never have thought possible!
  24. Just came across this thread; brilliant! For a first thread, or any thread for that matter, it's spot-on, very informative and funny too. Please can you explain more about the cotton-sawing technique?
  25. What sort of condition is it in? 40$ sounds pretty good! Would like to see some pics of the chassis now and progress as you go please.
