  1. In my experience 32dp pinions work fine with 0.8 metric gears. Some say you get more gear noise.
  2. Its a 0.8 metric pitch.
  3. The diameter of the shock body is just too small to ever offer effective damping. It wasn't until a few years after the release of the SRB that manufactures began making shocks that actually worked.
  4. I used some 6mm diameter alloy bar & made my own.
  5. I've never seen a diff in this chassis before, its a pretty cool mod. Interesting that someone went to all that effort yet didn't fit bearings.
  6. I did this exact same mod to my wild one a couple of years go. Its still going strong on brushless power & after several beach runs.
  7. They all live on the shelf but I try to run them all.
  8. Look like RC channel shocks. I have a set on my Ranger, pretty good quality. I've had them a few years & no leaks.
  9. Paint in the sand super letters instead. The good year logo wears off when running after a while.
  10. I needed a hard to find gearbox shaft once. I cut the shank off of a drill bit.
  11. As said above, the diff will fail quickly without it. If you do make one up then use hardened steel.
  12. Wheel base & shock layout is close enough on the Optima. The battery is mounted length ways in the Shogun, would the Shogun body be wide enough to fit cars where that battery is mounted width ways? Need someone to measure the width.
  13. I've fitted those on mine. Perfect fit, way more traction than the original tyres & the softer side walls improve the handling.
  14. You could drill out the grub screw, but that could be very tricky with the motor in that position. The other option is to carefully lever or pull the pinion off. Once off there will be no tension on the grub screw & it should unscrew alowing you to fit a new one. I've had to do this before myself. If you are carefull you wont damage anything.
  15. I've got three models with this gearbox, RS500 & two Rockys. Seems a real pain at first but then you get used to it it pretty easy.
  16. MCI racing do a good repro set of the integra decals.
  17. I have both the Javelin & Scorpion remakes. Fantastic to drive superb & build quality. I fitted the belt drive when building the Javelin, although chain drives are great for nostalgia the belt is much better for running.
  18. I have the 53908 universal axles fitted in mine, works great.
  19. Yes the OTW125, got a set in the front of a rocky, works fine.
  20. I also have a Marui Hunter, the raider is a tougher car & easier to find parts for. Kyosho were fairly consistent with drive shaft sizes in that era. Rocky, Raider, Optima, Ultima & javelin have the same length shafts. I have Optima rere universal shafts in one of my rocky's.
  21. As said, only any use on very tight tracks. I had one in my drift car but switched back to a locked front diff.
  22. The raider was my second RC back in the 80's. I've also got a RS500 on the shelf (identical to the raider). Sounds like the previous owner has made the not so good raider steering even worse. Putting it back to manual spec would be a start. The stock servo saver is terrible. I'm sure with a aftermarket servo saver & some decent ball end links the set up could be greatly improved.
  23. Yep, if possible. I guess side by side comparison of the manuals is the place to start.
