  1. I intend to go for a orange & black theme when FAV's become available in the UK. I cant see mine being as detailed as the one above though, thats a really nice peice of work.
  2. Get some pics of it up on here, all brands are welcome.
  3. Some alloy nerf bars arrived for my baja frog.
  4. The Maverick Scout is unbeatable value for money, glad to hear that someone else is enjoying one too. I took the stock motor out of mine, its says its 25 turn on the label. I have installed a 55 turn crawler motor, its no slower but it does have more torque. Things to watch out for: Check the pin in the prop shaft UJ's, if this partially drops out you can sheer the joint. Also if you get a wheel jammed dont keep powering backwards/forwards trying to get un stuck (like I did). You will break a halfshaft or round out the centre of the diff locker. Between me & my mates we have 7 of these trucks, ideal entry to crawling without spending a whole lot of cash.
  5. Thanks. The RZ works great, I'm using a 15t pinion & the speed is probably as much as the wild one can handle. Acceleration is superb, if it finds grip it wheelies. Driver has that look due to the ammount of times he's been over onto the roof
  6. The alloy mount had bent slightly. I slackend off the front red mounts, bent the alloy mount back & tightened it all back up. Its all straight now & the diff runs smoother. I can see how a steel mount one would be better. A mount made from a block of alloy would also be an option. Does the rere FAV have a steel mount? I noticed while changing a broken rear suspension arm that the ones on the car are the very early kind with the round droop stop instead of the later oval one. This meant that I had to replace both, I suppose they should always be replaced in pairs really.
  7. Yeah, I had seen that. I'll guess I'll wait until they have stock. I started the thread on the off chance that someone knew of any other sources in the UK.
  8. Or is buying from abroad the only way at the moment? My birthday is coming up & I want to get my self something.
  9. I think you are right, the mounts just need a bit of a tweek. I have a complete frog gearbox but it seems a shame to do the swap when my wild one is running so nice. Still using the original out drives & hex shaped drive shafts!
  10. Bump. Any ideas how to stop the lean on the gearbox?
  11. I had the same problem with the universal upgrade kit on my rere Frog. Went back to the stock dog bones in the end.
  12. If its the same as the old kit you have the choice of 15 or 18 teeth. 32dp is the pitch.
  13. Yeah, just gravity basicly. The gear mesh is fine as the whole gearbox is leaning over. The only drive train algnment problem that could arrise is the the out drives to the drive shafts.
  14. I tried the wheel the other way, they generate more grip this way, just doesnt look right.
  15. This is my wild one runner. It has modern radio gear, FAV bonnet, home made alloy roof, bearings, super stock RZ motor. Its got a set of tarmac tyres on at the moment as thats where most of the running has taken place. I have set of mint stock wheels/tyres for the shelf & the original body work is also kept safe on the shelf. I have used different springs on the rear stock dampers to soften it up a bit & improve the handling. As you can see in the last pic the gearbox has taken to leaning to one side, I understand this is common & it happened to my old wild one back in the 80's. Whats the best way to cure this problem?
  16. If I were to buy one for a kid then I think I would go for a Grasshopper rere. Wont cost much to buy in the first place. Handy if you suspect they may lose interest in the hobby. Basic & tough design. 380 motor means it wont be too quick & with a decent battery will have a long run time. Cheap & abundance of spares if they do break the car. Its basic construction means that as the child grows you could teach them basic manitenance & repair. Can be upgraded for more speed for a small cost as the childs skill level progresses. Edit: I might add that the Holiday Buggy 2010 would be great for a kid for the same reasons as above.
  17. The Tamiya 'D' tyres are too soft. Locking the rear or both diffs helps but only do this if you are serious about drifting as it can be a pain to undo with geared diffs. I found a one way front diff has improved my drifting, I'm able to get the car more sideways at lower speeds on tighter corners.
  18. I see what you mean. I bought mine from china for less than half of that cost. I have found that certain metal parts are getting a bit pricey, where as some of the plastic parts tree's have never been cheaper.
  19. I'm sure they do & I'm also sure it has been done. I'm positive I have seen pics on here. If no one confirms this then let me know as I can try it out, I have a wild one & a set of frog universals.
  20. No probs, I try & be as helpfull as I can, most people are like that on here, good bunch really.
  21. PM Kaiser http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?showuser=8468 He's done the FX10 mod on a hopper.
  22. Having never carried out this conversion on a grasshopper I wouldnt know. Hopefully some one who has will be along to answer.
  23. Thats the one, its available in black too. I used that kit to convert my lunchbox front end to double wishbone. I thinks its fairly easy to fit it to a grasshopper/ hornet, I guess it involves a bit of chassis cutting though. It stops all of the crazy camber angles that the stock set up gives when the suspension is working. I have seen a few cars on here with the kit fitted, probably best to speak to an owner to find out how to go about the fitting. It may well widen the front track so new sterring rods might also be needed.
  24. You are going to need tiny dampers to get them to fit in the stock mounting position. I think there were some available years ago but these are very rare now. Have you considered the FX10 shock mount upgrade?
  25. TA-Mark, you have a great looking set up there. I would love to have my own buggy track like that. I forgot to mention I have my own lock up building that has a concrete floor, we set up drift tracks in there over the winter.
