hi all , i have long wanted a 1/10 RWD rally car or more specifically a MK1 ford escort , i was planning on building a chassis from scratch using the gearbox from a 2WD buggy and a carbon chassis plate but, that's still in the works, in the mean time i came across a modified M04 chassis on a forum somewhere , it looked real easy and cheap to do so i thought what the hang lets give it a go, i ordered some TL01 suspension arms and set too, its an easy mod ,you will also need two lots of the chassis extenders, i had some in the box of muchness , i had some 42mm dogbones laying around in the bitz boxes too , they should be 39mm with 'o'rings but the 42's are fine if you leave the 'o'rings out of the drive cups , one small issue i came across were the front shock lower spring cup was fowling wishbones , i used some longer shock rod ends to overcome the issue , no biggy, i may have to adjust the wheelbase slightly but that will have to wait until the shell gets here , i haven't run it yet as i am waiting for the ESC and RX to arrive . i will update this thread as i get the parts and time to bring it all together and tune the handling to get it to drift as realistically as i can

that's a shame as it would have looked quite nice ,

I wonder ,would midnight pumpkin shell fit the wt01? that would look quite nice with more scale wheels tucked under the arches to give a vice vintage pick up ,not sure though as I cant seem to find wheel base and track width for the pumpkin shell.

somewhere around the 30th of jan if I remember correctly , I will be keeping an eye on the Tamiya blog for updates, fingers crossed there will be something nice

what will happen if i run larger wheels/tyres on a buggy?
alfagta replied to HomerJHandley's topic in General discussions
hi, the first issue is electrical load, bigger wheels place greater demands on the esc and motor, keep an eye on temps for the first run checking every minute or so , you will also get more top speed but less punch , there is also increased mechanical load on the stub axles and hub bearings , as long as the wheels arent massively different you should be ok, I have run some pretty huge wheels on my ansmann x-pro buggies in the mud and snow and had no major issues other than having to go down 2 teeth on the motor pinion and ran a slightly higher punch setting on the esc. have fun -
so its just round the corner , do any of you fella's think/hope Tamiya will slip out any surprizes ?

red endbell , pmsl , is the locating key in the gearbox housing the same size as the slot in the front end of the SH black motor ? I understand why Paul doesn't want to chop the tab in the gearbox but, with suitable care could a new motor be ground to fit ,

hi all, been having some issues posting on the Tamiya club forum due to IE10 , when I try to reply directly to a thread via the reply box at the end on any page it wont post, I have found that if I use the 'more reply options ' tab it will let me post but all the little tools are gone , no emoticons etc , maybe its because its so new the tc site will need a bit of maintenance to work properly , its all beyond me TBH , any one else had similar issues yet and could anyone suggest a fix ? thanks for any suggestions.
-
hi, what you have there , if I remember correctly, is a Tamiya 540SH black motor with its red endbell, it was I think Tamiya's first true racing motor, the wires don't align due to the motor having its timing changed to up its performance , I could be wrong but I think you need the silver or goldish coloured can with black or white plastic endbell .

Dremel: Cord or Battery, Pros & Cons?
alfagta replied to djmcnz's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
i have a li-ion battery dremel , its great to a point , but, if you are only likly to use in say the garage or shed or even a dedicated rc/hobby work station then the extra power and unlimited run time of the wired version makes it the one to go for, i do plan on getting a wired one for my shed and use the battery one for when i need it to be mobile. -
hi speedy, sadly no as it states you need the 'x-car esc card ' and i cant seem to see it anywhere , i have left a question on the site to see if it is specific to the range ,i cant access the usa HK site , have you seen the programme card over their at all?,, its not a big deal at the moment as i got the esc from the global site so i should have a couple of weeks before it arrives , the x car esc's do look alot like the latest hobbywing esc's so i may even get away with using one of theirs, will be keeping an eye on discussions on the HK site to see what turns up

My first Lipo problem - looking for advice
alfagta replied to mr crispy's topic in All things electric...
hi, this is just my experience of two vapex 5000 30c hard case li-po packs , they both puffed after about 10 cycles while being used at less than half there recommended continuous C rating , they were bought from vapex directly and they never replied to any of my very polite and undemanding emails that were only asking for advice rather than a warranty replacement , tried phoning but they never answer, take that as you wish . -
hi , might be worth detailing the state of the brushes and number of runs the motor has done , number of comm cuts etc or even post a pic of it stripped down , just a thought, all the best
-
good stuff, yeah i found the mtronics is a little faster too , more efficiant too. have fun
