  1. they do indeed come with the hop up stays , ball nuts can be any of the 5mm short type such as 53869 for a bit of bling , my fav's are 58097 but the are never in stock anywhere when i want some , they are brass and last for eons , i use brass ball studs on the rear lower arms but you can use ball nuts with m3x12 grub/set screws which can be had from ebay for very little cost , removing slop and fine tuning is nice as is adding some choice hop ups if you really want to push a model ,'and your ability', to drive it as quickly as you can around some sort of track , but if you are a basher it can all be a waste of time , i am finding that with very small adjustments and shimming with a pack of m3 shims on the hinge pins (leave a tiny amount of slop) the little dt03 is amazing fun, i totally forget i am driving a £60 kit a small tip, if you find you are grip rolling , remove the 3x6 spacers , parts X3 in the CVA damper manual , they are there for a reason , to stop the drive line getting bound up , however i have found that the binding doesn't happen to any noticeable level and close inspection after several runs shows no wear or damage at all as a result of the spacers being removed , the motor doesnt get any hotter but the buggy corners far better and allows more aggressive corner entry on high grip surfaces (if that matters to you !) have fun
  2. just a lowly 17t 32dp steel pinion for the dt-03
  3. i get them from schumacher , http://www.racing-cars.com/sp/category/New_Cars_and_Parts/subcategory/Cougar_KF/templateid/12/searchbox7/1-10_Buggy_Off_Road_Tyres.html , i am using blue compound but i dont race so went for the longer wearing compound ,
  4. i think the kit size is perfect for my uses on grass track ,i just added some mini pin fronts for dry grass and spike fronts for wet grass for a bit more 'on power' steering than the rib kit tyres , but the choice is yours, have fun
  5. hi, i agree with all comments above , i have had the UJ shafts on and found they gathered more grass than the kit plastic items so i switched back to the plastic shafts , the UJ's might be better on dirt, clay or astro turf though ,, i recommend some 5mm ball nuts for the shock mounts as the step screws are a poor fit , even a bit of shrink wrap on the step screws helps reduce the slop a touch , its odd that tamiya didnt include the ball nuts as the shocks have ball socket ends . i am using a 13.5 t BL motor and have fitted bearings , i also spaced the servo downward by 3mm to get the servo saver as low as possible to minimize bump steer and fitted a steel pinion, i have ordered the hop ups but i think they are just bling for the most part , but, i will post up any note worthy improvements, if any.,
  6. i run some JC 5 spoke wheels with 2.2 dirt hawgs , the JC rims are the same width as the tamiya star dish rims , diameter wise they are fine , the dirt hawgs are available in narrow fronts that will fit the front tamiya rims too, use a firm insert in the rather soft hawgs as they have a rather floppy side wall , i would recommend that you clean the rims and tyres at the glue point to ensure the best possible bond as the hawgs are very grippy and can roll off the rim rather easily if not glued very well . hope this helps a bit
  7. hi , yes its possible using the f103 gt rear end , the 3racing parts can still be found easily from places like here , http://www.asiatees.com/display?Tamiya-F103GT-Parts-Hop-Ups&brand=Tamiya&model=F103GT&id=64342 , just have a search through the f103 gt parts , you may need to do a little modding or spacing/cutting but it should be easy enough ,
  8. hi , i think the one pictured above is also sold 'red anodised' as the turnigy waterproof sensorless motor and many others , they are good 'n' tough with oversize shafts and bearings , the other turnigy trackstar sensored motors ,for a mere £20 ,with machined cans are the way forward IMO , lighter, more adjustable, easier to repair, cooler running and still have the over sized shaft and bearings, teamed up with a tamiya tble-02s(sensored only) and you have a really smooth and easy to use system, pair it with a hobbywing xerun v2.1 120a esc or similar and you have a very quick race system .
  9. hi , In my experience ( 34 orders ) always choose the cheapest shipping method , before you order ,check the local warehouse to see if the parts you want are in stock there before you ship stuff around the planet, i usually manage to get what i want from the UK warehouse but even the HK warehouse only takes about 10 days , happy shopping
  10. you could always shoot it with some PS-53 lame flake then the green then yellow and finally silver or black , would really "pop" in the sun or when taking pictures
  11. just carsons from here, http://www.fusionhobbies.com/product/900027-carson-2wd-all-terrain-tyre-set-black , they are superb for multi surface use
  12. for me its my old M-chassis cars (especially the M-04 variants i have ), i have tried all scales and types but i always come away with a huge grin when i run the tiny M's, the holiday buggy and other dt02 variants are a very close second place in the ' kid at christmas', like grin stakes' ,
  13. had a decidedly dull day off , running around doing this and that , managed to squeeze in a half hour run with my favourite on road car the M-04/EL , the old nsx shell has seen a very hard life but refuses to die
  14. i can recommend the 13.5 or 17.5 trackstar sensored motors , they now come in a rather dashing red anodise , great motors for the price , i have been using them for well over a year now and all 4 have given no issues , just a drop of oil in the bearings now and again , and work great with the TBLE-02S
  15. loving my DT03 , easily the best budget (beginner ) race buggy Tamiya have produced
  16. id wait too, as you say ,a good roller will appear soon enough , and most likely for half the price asked for those A-parts
  17. hi, not sure about the price but thought you may be interested ,ebay item #151383662358
  18. how about 8' x 4' T&G chipboard flooring , some garden hose and some 'U' bolts , lay out the flooring lay the hose on in the track you want and drill a few holes and slot in the 'U' bolts to hold the hose steady , if the cost is shared amongst a few folks it wouldnt be expensive and is also easily transported in van should you want to move it
  19. fitted the 13.5 motor and LiFe battery to the dt03 and took it out for a 10 minute run before work this morning , compared to the dt02 with the same tyres and wheels with 13.5 li-po the 03 gets round the little grass track 2 seconds a lap faster ! , huge improvement , loving the dt03
  20. run it tight , it will free up with use , this will give 'on power ' understeer but also a touch of 'off power ' over steer , perfect for getting the car to turn in but also the under steer can be utilized to bail you out with a quick dab of throttle if the rear end tries to get away from you , if under steer is too much add a few grams to the front of the car .
  21. hi, if the battery is getting hot and not just warm then there is a good chance that one or more of the cells has died , this causes huge internal resistance spike and thus the charger pushes harder and you get heat and lots of it , given how cheap modern digital chargers are it is a false economy to get these prehistoric chargers , http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__216__408__Chargers_Accessories-Battery_Chargers.html even with having to buy a DC supply for some of them they are still cheap and will pay for themselves in the long run by not killing battery packs , the x100 touch screen is such a clever device , it even gives real time graph to let you know if your battery has issues .
  22. nice little package for me today from hobby king , 2 LiFePO4 4200 packs , 13.5 trackstar motor , some pink silicone wire and some xt60 connectors for the neo frog fighter buggy
  23. using m3 machine screws rather than a tapping screw in all of mine without super glue or threadlock and never had a saver come loose apart from metal output shafts type on my crawlers which do need a touch of threadlock ,but, there is nothing wrong with the belt and braces approach
  24. you could buy a new stick transmitter for under £20 that is 4 channel 2.4ghz from the hobbyking , they have loads to choose from , just a thought
  25. no worries , remember that all the info will also be in build manual for your kit , or a quick google will find a download of it for you , have fun and BTW , welcome to tamiya club forums ,
