hi , as far as i am aware the extra dampers ,esc etc are a permanent feature of the 'fighter buggy' edition of the dt-03 , i havent read any reports of it coming without them i have found the most essential hop ups after bearings are, a high torque servo saver (with long arm) , tamiya or x-ray are perfect but there are others , and as gregm said , correct tyres , but the kit ones are quite nice for very short grass and hard pack dirt , the tamiya hop ups are rather nice and fairly cheap too , so it wont break the bank to get the whole shebang just for the fun of having a dt-03 all hopped up but, for fun running they are not needed at all. after a quick run with the torque tuned i went straight for a 13.5 brushless motor with my tble-02s , it is far happier when turning brushless than brushed , if you go for 13.5 brushless you can run a 19t pinion and the esc will just get warm, but even with 17t pinion on the 'torque tuned brushed motor', the esc got very hot and IMO was on its limit , do consider going for a LiFePO4 battery for sole use with the tble-02 , it was made with life batteries in mind and works very well with them , they are cheap too . have fun

hi, i have succesfully fitted proline, schumacher , mardave and tamiya tyres to the tamiya stardish wheels that come with the dt03 , you should be fine with any 2wd buggy tyres

i run mine until it cuts off frequently , both the tble-02s with LiFe and all the others with lipo , with lipo i do use 3.2v per cell as i use cheap li-po packs and they can be a bit awkward to charge if i run them down to 3v , as gregm says the usual proceedure is for the car run at low speed for a few seconds when it triggers to allow you to pull off the track .

hi, what current did you charge the battery at ? too high and you may have fried one or more of the cells in the pack , nimh is old tech and is far too unreliable , there are of course those who say its still perfectly viable , IMO we shouldnt have to be battery technicians to run rc cars back when i ran nimh i would buy 6 packs at a time knowing that at least 2 would fail quickly , if you are using the tamiya tble-02s esc then i suggest you go for LiFePO4 batteries which the esc has a safety cut for , i have been using them in my DT-03 neo frog and they have been perfect so far , not quite as much grunt as a li-po but more consistant than nimh or ni-cad and you can charge them quite hard , they make total sense for the tamiya owner who just blasts about for fun , check out zippy LiFePO4 2s packs at hobbyking , they are super cheap , you wont need a hard case pack in the dt-03 as it has a deep tub monocoque chassis . have fun

i have posted in several threads about my experience with the tble-02s and lots of brushless motors , here it is again , if off road on grass with grippy tyres then the esc has a 13.5 limit regrdless of gearing it would seem , in low grip conditions or on road it has a 10.5 limit , as qatmix said , any sensored brushless motor will work , the tble-02s runs far cooler when in brushless mode , even with the torque tuned and lowest gearing it runs HOT , for bashing (should we say general hobby use ) go for a nice cheap reliable turnigy trackstar 13.5 or similar from hobbyking , if you are loaded or have a 'proper' tamiya fetish then you can get a tamiya motor , if you race then you will need a homologated motor from the lists , have fun

depends , i find them useful for adjusting in varying conditions but ,try your car then consider if it needs adjustablity , too much or too little grip can ruin the fun

i think i have my wires crossed , you have the 3 racing shock towers not upper suspension arms ! , you will need 5mm ball connectors for the Tamiya dampers

its the ball diameter , there are long and short versions , the short ones may cause the upper arm to rub on the damper springs so go for the long type , they also come in stud type ( the screw portion is attached to the ball ) and ball nut connector type ( which are the ones you want as they are far stronger ) , here is a pic of mine with the tamiya items , 3 racing do the ball studs in pink , just search for 3racing sakura ball connector

hi, just search for Tamiya ball connector , the correct Tamiya ones are listed as 5mm in various colours and materials but your 3 racing items may need 4.8 , it should say in the guide sheet that comes with the 3 racing arms .

no worries, the kyosho variant always seemed faster than any other , we used to use them in the M-chassis cars as they went quite a bit quicker and cooler than the kit supplied motors ,

hi, they are very common , kyosho silver cans tend to be fan motors , ansmann clash and many others .

it sure is an odd one , i know there was a chinese company a few years back that did a B3 clone that had the brace-less shock tower and that same ribbed front upper brace but i cant find it now, i am not sure if it was on the RCU forums or RCTALK , i did a search on both but came up with nothing , Traxxas !?

i have never used hpi fuel but a few friends that still run nitro cars say it is very good , should be easy to get too due to hpi's availability .

i found o'donell fuel to be less than good , byron and tornado were far superior , O'donell is good for break in due to the high oil content but beyond that it was slow, hard to start and needed a hotter plug than the others regardless of needle setting , it was like the oil didnt evaporate quick enough and tended to cause bogging down and slow throttle response , mind you that was a long time ago and they may have cleaned up the formula a bit , same issues with model technics oil plus blend , although the full synthetic oil blend from model technics was a great basher fuel that seemed to give better economy with fewer refills needed .
