  1. if the crankshaft rotates freely and offers resistance during the compression stroke then it should run , there is no air filter so i would check the venturi on the carb ( tapered hole that the air is sucked in through ) , any small grit or dirt particles is an indication that it has been run without a filter , if this is the case then strip and clean the engine , it's easy as these simple two cycle engines have only a few moving parts , crankshaft , con rod , piston and sleeve , keep an eye out when you remove the cooling head as there may be shims between it and the block that are essential to give the correct 'burn space' , if the crankshaft bearings are anything other than silky smooth they should be replaced , its a pain but can be done with a little heat and care , its counter intuitive but go for higher nitro content fuel as it burns cooler , 20% being ideal in the OS made tamiya engines , have fun
  2. hi all, been looking at the TT-02 with interest , i have waited for a pro or similar edition to hit the shops before shelling out on one though, i often read the RC-RACER blog and just saw the first official pic posted on there of the Type 'S' edition TT-02, http://www.thercracer.com/2014/09/tamiya-58600-tt-02-type-s-chassis-kit.html , looks like a nice stock club racer , i wonder if the front uprights have had some attention as i would guess the the TT-02 items would flop around a lot with the upper arms now being fairly standard looking tie rods , its difficult to tell from the pic but, given the lower arm change i suspect the uprights are also from a different model . i think i will pull the trigger on one of these as soon as they are available , i may even venture out to my nearest club for a bit of stock touring madness
  3. hi fella's , i use a spektrum dx3r with 2s LiFe battery fitted , its now getting on a bit as i bought it the first week they hit UK shores , it has 5 cracks in the casework around the hand grip after many incidents , it still works fine , but having used a few flysky's etc i can say the spektrum is way overpriced compared to the competition , when i bought the dx3r after many futaba failures and one hi tech failure( was hacked off and spending way to much on car repairs buy this time) it was the only real choice for 2.4ghz at the time . I was going to get a new spektrum but am tempted by the flysky it4 genII , i had a go of a gen 1 and it had one major issue but this is now resolved otherwise it was really nice , it seems to feel like a radio i had used for years , you could say "very familiar feeling" , the only thing stopping me going for it is that i am planning to get a 1/14 truck and the MFU might have operational issues with it , if i can get it to work properly with a fully kitted truck the it4 will be the one for me . but if your current radio gets the job done stick with it , perhaps get a new tx running the same system that is more adjustable for racing so you can keep using all your RX's with both TX,s with just a quick re-bind where needed .
  4. it does say in the manual that the 02s can take 10.5 off road too if the gearing is correct , , i would wager that it is on clay or hard dirt and not grass . with 13.5 and 19t pinion(equivalent of 19t, super stock in brushed terms) the 02s gets warm , the deciding factor is tyre type and surface being run on , with cell blocks on clay it will run 10.5 without much issue , 2wd on grass with spikes or pins 12t is the lowest mine would run a full pack , worth noting i run LiFepo4 , if you use lipo then things are gonna get hotter and motor wind will need further consideration .
  5. brushless motors are way more efficient than brushed motors , couple that with the way the fets are utilized , most likely all fets are in use forward or reverse in brushless mode, but, in brushed mode only 2/3 of the fets are for forward and 1/3 for reverse , for the record i cant get mine to run 10.5 when in a 2wd off road buggy on grass , it thermals after a couple of minutes , on road it is fine though , hope this helps a bit
  6. i think that is the anaerobic threadlock you have , if memory serves it eats some plastics such as polycarbonate , , worth checking before you go using it on a precious model
  7. works on windows phone 8.1 and windows 8 touch laptop
  8. hi , i use rc mart , asiatees, rc mushroom , jazzhobby , stella , selections hardware on ebay can be very good with great prices and rapid shipping but stock is intermittent depending on what kits they are breaking up for spares , its worth keeping an eye on hobbyking as it would appear they are moving into the mainstream , i noticed they had associated kits and futaba and sanwa radio systems , i think it is only a matter of time before they start selling other brands too , have fun
  9. hi, i found that the drag brake should be just that, 'drag' , the car should roll very slowly down 45 degree or steeper slope at neutral , keep the separate manual brake enabled so you have to use the brake to come to a dead stop , and have a double tap style reverse , the drag brake should act just like the engine braking in a real 1:1 scale 4wd , i cant begin to say how many crawlers i have seen flip over because of instant reverse or too aggressive a drag brake setting , just watch a few youtube vids and you will soon spot the cars with badly set up esc's its all personal preference of course and trial and error will find your ideal set up , have fun
  10. nice work , is it any faster in the turns ? , i ask as the last thing thing my m04's need is to loose front end grip , especially on power , with your m06 style rear end i get the impression that the car will push (understeer)even more when powering out of corners ,
  11. hi Shen , there are quite a few on ebay uk , not sure if thats any use though as shipping would make it an expensive fix , you could also add your email to the waiting list for one of these , http://os.3racing.hk/products.php?products_key=2828 , not sure if more will be produced but many shops have them on order rather than saying discontinued , as long as its not a holiday buggy it should fit fighter buggies etc ,
  12. hi ,i am finding the chassis can take an 8.5 with 120a esc , however the tamiya tble02s is rated to 10.5 , the manual says that gearing needs to be 9;1 or overheating may occur , if you run on grass as i do the 10.5 will cause the esc to go into thermal shut down , mines shuts down after about 3 minutes with a 10.5 with LiFepo4 on grass track with a 17t pinion , with lipo its about 1 minute , 12t ,it would seem, is the max the esc can actually take in high grip off road running , you can add the fan which may allow 10.5 off road but, as mentioned ,13.5 is a bag of fun and allows the use of a 19t pinion to keep the top speed up while taming the punch at lower revs to help keep the front wheels down 'a bit' and stays well below the thermal limit of the tble-02s , have fun
  13. a pair of small crimping pliers is useful but you can do it with some small needle nose pliers . , its really easy , buy a few plugs as when you mess up (if you mess one up) its rather difficult to re-use them .
  14. hi, yeah , thats my experience too , it will be a shame if they are stopping , i have found that most 3racing stuff was 'almost' as well made as tamiya hop ups , yeah racing stuff can be hit or miss but they have improved a bit lately , i got an alloy motor mount for my m-05 from yeah and its really well made , i guess it will be topcad or , at a push gpm . thanks for the responses fella's
  15. hi all , i have been noticing lately that 3 racing parts are starting to get a bit thin on the ground ,i have always liked 3 racing stuff and i was starting to wonder if they are going out of business , then i saw this on redrc , http://www.redrc.net/2014/09/teamsaxo-gt-500-110th-rwd-kit/#more-85555 , it looks rather nice and a great idea since it is so difficult to find tamiya f103gt cars , however , having had a 3 racing f1 car, i think its pretty safe to say that a few of the parts on the car in the link are of 3racing manufacture , anyone know if 3 racing are going over to making cars rather than mainly 'after market hop ups' that they have been known for up to now ? cheers
  16. there is no reference to the esc online that i can find , its more than likely that its an mtronics but it may also be a cheap chinese item as schumacher do most of there buying from manufacturers in china and then do the finishing touches(box it up) in the uk , if it is mtronix then you probably wont get much help from them, i tried to get info on an old mtronics esc quite a few years ago and they couldnt help at all, giving only a recommendation to buy a new esc from them ! good luck .
  17. your best bet is to email or call Schumacher or visit a well established schumacher dealer ,
  18. the hobbywing v2.1 120a is still a great esc at a great price for club level ,open mod, racing or in, blinky ,stock mode , the hobbyking clone of it has been great too , not even a blip or glitch after many months of running a 5.5 t , do check if its allowed at your local clubs though as some frown upon such (grey import) devices , if you are setting up for racing in open mod then have a check to see what the club your running at allow , some small clubs have cost restrictions and such like . have fun.
  19. hi BigSteve , it does seem that its no longer available , a good alternative is park tools polylube 100 , oddly enough it is also blue , its perfectly safe with all plastics and is super slippery stuff , quite cheap too
  20. just some 53576 damper oil seals today , i am feeling a new kit purchase coming on , running out of things to fix on my other cars
  21. how do silver can , welcome to the tc forums ,
  22. sorry mr crispy , could have swore it was you , it was of course XV Pilot
  23. just a pair of 19t 0.8 module brass pinions from Maverick for my dt-02 and dt-03 , this evening i shall mostly be shredding grass
  24. hi all ,i have just fitted a maverick 0.8 module 19t pinion to my DT-03 , i wasnt holding out much hope after mr crispy reported they are a poor mesh , took the buggy out and it is easily the quietest the dt03 or dt02's have run, even better than the awful aluminium alloy tamiya items , not sure how robust they are , only time will tell but as far as meshing goes they are fantastic , now wondering if our Mr Crispy got one that was packaged wrongly ?
