Does anyone have any idea what a tgx with a mercedes gtr body(mint) build manual and engine manual and original box with freshly rebuilt engine is worth?

Managed to sort engine today! feel such a plank. When I rebuilt the engine I put the piston in the wrong way round (pillock is the word needed here), stripped engine back down turned piston and it fired up second/ third pull. Ran it rich for 3 tanks the leanded it off a touch so that there was a light trace of blue smoke under acceleration ( has had about 8 tanks all in all wihilst messing around to get running right. So now it goes like stink and both me and my son have a grin from ear to ear. That was untill it hit a bump at full throttle and cartwheeled about 6 times lucky the body wasn't on and there was not damage!. So thanks to all who offered advice

Really thinking now of buying a electric car, have enjoyed tinkering with tgx but its doing my head in. Tried everything i can think of, going to take to model shop to get sorted. Not even going anywhere near the shops in Donny so going to try Shermans.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I 've got a tgx fitted with a fs15-lt engine (unreliable I know), bought it with a broken con rod (little end snapped). So I have rebuilt the engine with good second hand rod piston and liner and new crankshaft bearings. It starts and revs up when car is on a box, but doesn't quite hit top revs and when throttle is released then put back on it won't rev up as if theres not enough fuel going through. I then replaced the fuel tank because the primer was leaking and fuel pipes have also been replaced. But still the same, there are no air leaks. A friend who i bought the car off has aahd a feel to see what the compression is like and says its a good as before it broke the con rod. I am puzzled as what to do next, am thinking of taking it to a shop to let someone whos knows what theyre doing have a look but don't want to spend a fortune as i am looking to sell it to buy an truggy car to have more varied fun. Your advice is muchly needed thanks

thanks for the replys, i was after 2 crankshaft bearings for a tgx mk 1. Thought i 'd got them posted until i opened the parcel from hobby co and the front bearings wrong. Have sourced one from a local bearing dealer (fingers crossed its right when i collect it). The model shops in donny just don't seen to be bothered will try shermans next time i need anything.

can anyone tell of box good model shops in the doncaster area? Been to tags/modelzone and williamsons and think they are rude and unhelpfull.

Could any one tell me if/how to change the crankshaft bearings, is it common for them to leak air through?

Hi all, i am having a little trouble with my tgx/fs15lt. I recently bought the car from a friend with a knackerd engine, i've rebuilt the engine and have had a couple of small problem with have been rectified and it does run better but will only at half throttle and am not sure that my last (hopefully) little problem could cause the poor performance. The round gasket in the center of the muffler is leaking not major but still leaking, could this cause the problem? Any help/ advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the advice and tips guys, does the length of the pressure pipe matter? i will get a new gasket and tank sorted i think ! this was ment to be the start of a beautifull relationship and a new hobby for me and my son! think i should have gone for a new car rather than second hand, however i have enjoyed tinkering with the engine! once again thanks and i will keep you posted.

Hi all your help is urgently needed, I am just getting into rc cars and have finally managed to talk my friend into selling me his tgx with a poorly engine (broken con rod), I have got hold of another engine and made a good one from the two. To my surprise it started very easily, although it was running very rich and wouldn't lean off. So i've put about 4-5 tanks through it and it is starting to lean off but it will only run at full throttle when is wheels are off the floor, put it on the ground it will run at half throttle but open the throttle full it just borps and dies. There are two potential problems 1) the prime pumps throws fuel out when at full throttle ( i have cut the pump lever off and bunged the hole and it seems slightly better) , 2) the muffler gasket (the round one) broke when i stripped it to clean it I have tried to seal it with automotive silicone sealer however it still leaks. Can these problems contribute to the poor performance? does the engine need alot of pressure to push the fuel through? seems to be lack of fuel rather than too much. Throttle and carb settings are correct. Many thanks help is much needed! to out a smile on my little boys face
