  1. I keep shredding the rear tyres on my baja champ. They are quite expensive to replace in my opinion for the amount of time they last. Can anyone recomend alternative tyres that will fit the wheels.
  2. Ok thanks the Tz will be my motor of chioice then. I was going to order a bz but there are a lot more bargains to be had with the tz motors for some reason. I can get a 23 turn Hackmoto motor for half the price of a Tz but i dont know if they are good quality. I dont know if anyone on here has ever tried them?
  3. I have been told the Dirt Tuned motor is a good motor for the BJ.I dont know if i will get much more speed using the Dirt Tuned though. It is a shame the gearing options are very limited.
  4. Adjust the timing? This is a new one for me.What does that mean?
  5. Can someone tell me?What is the difference between the tamiya tz and bz motor? I have a chance to buy a very little used 2nd hand tz motor for my baja champ. Will it be ok? I wood be grateful for any help on the subject.
  6. I fully stripped down and rebuilt my 2nd hand Baja champ today. 3 reasons for this were- 1) i wanted piece of mind that it was all put together correctly. 2) just got a full 24 piece bearing kit for it. 3) the steering needed setting up properly because the servo cant have been in neutral position when fitting the parts to it. Now i am much happier with my car i am now looking at the next upgrade for it. I want a nice cheap 23 turn motor.Possibly a BZ or Hackmoto. Has anyone tried the Hackmoto motors? What is the difference between the Tamiya Bz motors and the Tz motors?
  7. Thanks for your reply. My NiMh batteries seem to run out of charge in a differnt way to the 1 Nicad battery i have. Once the car starts going slow with my NiMh Batteries i know it will only be a minute or 2 before its flat. The nicad battery seems to go on and on with me driving the car round slowly for ages to flatten the battery. I think from now on i will probably stop driving the car to flatten the battery and use the discharger on my nicad battery before charging it.
  8. Had loads of fun today racing my son and his mate.I feel like a kid again. This afternoon i couldnt get my car off my son.He said his car looks better but the Baja Champ is much more fun. I feel bad now i should have got him a tamiya for christmas. Just ordered a full 24pc bearing kit for my baja champ and also i am going to sort out the steering tomorrow. The guy that built it must have attached the steering parts to the servo when it wasnt in the neutral position.I could get it to go almost in a straight line with the trim all the way to the left.
  9. For long periods of time is a NiCd Battery better left flat or fully charged? I never leave my NiCd batteries flat for long.Is this correct or is it better to charge them closer to the time when i am going to use them? Also i was given a discharger. What is the reason for this device.I always run the battery flat in the car anyway until it stutters and can barely move.
  10. Bearing set is the 1st thing i am buying for it and then in a few weeks when i get paid upgrading the motor to a 23 turn motor.Maybe some decent dampers later. I havnt got any big plans for this car it is just to have fun with racing my son and his mates. I give it a spin today once i sorted out the antenna problem. The suspension worked better than i expected. When i 1st inspected the dampers they felt a bit hard and i expected the car to spend a lot of time on its roof but it cushioned the rough terrain ok. It kept up with my sons car ok probably the same acceleration and top speed. Great fun slipping around on wet tarmac aswell.Love it definately not disapointed. My only concerns with the car is it sounds a bit rattley( if thats a word) is this normal? When i have driven other tamiya models in the past the only noise i can hear is the motor. This is the problem i suppose when you buy a car someone else built.Always wondering if they put it together with as much care as i would.
  11. Thanks Gruntfuggly for pointing out my silly mistake. I am a bit tired i have been working nights last 1 tonight for a few weeks thank god. Anyway i am really pleased with my car.It has hardly been used since it was built and it also came with a few extra things that the seller never listed. The only thing missing was the antenna pipe and the little plastic holder for the antenna pipe. This is my sons car that i will be racing against as soon as i get hold of the antenna pieces.
  12. Hoprfully this is a picture of my Baja Champ that arrived yesterday
  13. I will try and get hold of a decent 2nd hand Tamiya Bz motor off ebay( i am watching 1 at the moment but have a feeling it will go out of my price range) If i cant get a 2nd hand BZ within a few weeks i might take a gamble on a 23 turn Hackmoto (Yokoma i think).
  14. Looking through older posts about ansmann motors i am definately not getting 1. On ebay i have seen 23 turn Hackmoto motors wich if i am correct are Yokoma motors? These are cheap enough. I have also seen 20 turn Hpi saturn motors for about £13 delivered. Is 20 turn probably to fast? Also has anyone tryed either of these motors, are they ok?
  15. As i have said on another post i have just bought a 2nd hand Baja Champ.First of all i am going to fit bearings and then look at getting a faster motor. I havnt got much money to spend at the moment so was looking at buying a Ansmann Clash motor for it. I dont need the car to be super fast it will only be used for racing against my son and his mates on waste land near by. Am i wasting my time buying 1 of these motors? are they as bad as people say? What is the best cheap alternative?
