  2. You can make pretty much any wheel fit any car nowadays with the right adapters, but bigger wheels mean changing the gear ratio too, which isn't always advised. There are many tyres out there that offer different grip levels depending on the surface you run on. Driving style can acount for alot too. Bigger doesn't really mean better in my opinion, at least thats what I tell teh good lady! You should really look for tyres of teh same size as yours, which should be easy really as there are lots in that category. Hope this helps some.
  3. In general this type of chemical breaks down the Superglue on contact. You would apply it in small amounts at one spot. Wait (and hope) that its starts to loosen the bond, then by manipulation it should work further and further into the area, capilary action also assists. No gaurantees though as every glue and every plastic or rubber is different in the way it accepts the glue and the debonder. Worth a try tho. I generally use the hot water method, and it nearly always wroks. Except once recently when I left one in a huge pan on the hob on a light simmer! I forgot about it (!) and came back 30 minutes later to a Losi Strike wheel and Tyre that had completely collapsed and gone soft! Not advisable to leave it.
  4. As already stated I would chck the damper parts, if they are ok maybe change the oil. If you dont have alternative damper parts to try out you can drill out the holes in the bottom plastic ring that is attached to the push rod. The holes allow the oil to flow through as the damper is depressed, small hole = slow flow (hard suspension) larger or multiple small holes = faster flow (soft suspension). There may be just too much oil in the dampers, I have had this trouble. They should not be full to the brim. Nothing wrong with buying prebuilt, you'll be gauranteed to have it in bits whether you built it or not! Hope this helps.
  5. I will be heading out again next weekend to Hamhill, weather permitting, Saturday Afternoon, 12 till dark, which is about 4:30-5pm. Or if people prefer Sunday we can do that. I tend to Park next to the pub and go from there. I'll be taking my son and between us we will have: Blitz Strike Monster Beetle or three (one is running 10.5 Brushless, although it may get transplanted into my sons Blitz) Frog. All the charging you'll need can be done from my truck (240v or 12v) If you are up for the drive it'll be well worth getting to know Hamhill, it has something for everyone. Dont think I have much footage of Hamhill yet, but I will have a look and let you know. It must be hard to find places in the city, just no space and too many people!
  6. Yes, I know of a few good bashing spots round here. There is a good woodland with dirt paths, natural jumps and the like, there is even a bmx dirt jump section down there that someone dug some time ago, needs a little tending but its good for a laugh. Just got back from there with my strike and my son with his blitz. Great fun. 5 minutes walk from my house is a small skate park which is great for an hour or so. 3 miles out of town is Hamhill, a awesome dirt terrain site. Its a quarried hill that also has a nature reserve, its tops, loads of open space, the most amazing off road terrain and massive jumps! I also like to take my Tamiyas to the beach with is 17 miles away, but its well worth it. If you fancy a trip down here, I am about an hour from Bristol, due south, I would be happy to feed and water and take you for a tour with the cars. I generally just load up everything I have and head out, sometimes I only use one or two cars, sometimes all of them. New faces would be great.
  7. Hey there guys n Gals. I am in South Somerset, between Yeovil and Taunton. Would anyone out there be interested in hooking up for a bash? My son and I have a few places we use, there are beaches close by (upto 30 mins), woodlands, open plains etc. Some great areas. We have Monster Beetles, Scorchers, a Frog, and Short Course Trucks. If you fancy a meet for a bash, make some videos, take some action pics, and have a bit of a laugh in or around Somerset, Dorset, Devon areas then get in touch. I/we go out most weekends, sometimes for an hour, sometimes all day. My truck has cooking facilities, a kettle, power for chargeres etc. Would love to meet some likeminds! Peace
  8. Wow. I would have blanked him or told him to come back with a police officer. Where was it? I have been turfed off Salisbury plain for riding my Motocross bike by Military police, but never with an RC car. Some people are not happy unless they are ruining someone elses fun. Bah indeed!
  9. Lol, sad but true, costly, but then all Monster Beetles are, they are just too much fun......... I have just received via ebay a 5.5T EZRun Brushless, guess where its now fitted... via a thorp diff it now powers my MB! Oh My God! Seriously only for the beach. It has a set of Paddles on it. I'll video it as soon as possible! I dont intend to run it in there for too long! I hope you get your bug sorted soon
  10. Hi. Any Acrylic Lacquer will do, the better the brand the better ther quality, usually. I use Halfords mainly. Your decals should be fine. Sometimes the ink on the aftermarket decals can run a tad, this has happened to me once or twice, but tamiya decals have always been fine for me.
  11. Yeah, the force is weak!!! Oh well, I'll just build it myself, then drive endlessly round it untill someone joins in! Lol.
  12. No idea, but if you shoot it please film it! Ha Ha Ha
  13. The new Battery should give you a good boost. Intellect are very good, you will be happy with it. As for shocks, the Ansmann shocks seem to be getting good reviews and cost around £10-15, but you could really try any, just make sure they are oil filled, not friction type, you can then change the oil to get different damping qualities, also try to go for adjustable shocks so you can tailor the spring rate to the type of driving you do. Measure your current shocks from end to end, then find the right size to give you the ride height you desire. My advice is to get the best shocks you can find for your money. You will find second hand for less than a tenner, and many new for not much more, but try to be selective as there are lots out there that are no better than the stock shocks. The stuttering you mention is probably inherent in the Brushless setup you have, a good battery may sort it, but it may not too, you might just have to put up with it.
  14. Hi NinjaT. The play in the steering is probably down to it being plastic linkage, it wears, and even when new would have had some flex. The only longterm way to fix it is by upgrading to aluminium linkage, usually about a tenner on "the bay" from hong kong, you could try plastic shims (small thin sheets put in gaps to take up slack). A non-original and shorter Aerial will definitely impare the range, also check you have good quality batteries in the Transmitter. Also check the car aerial is not damaged. And, faster speeds = Shorter runtime and vice versa. So if you run it with highest speed you will not get very long out of the battery, it can slash runtimes by massive amounts. Hard acceleration and repeated stop start stop also reduces run time. Brushless also reduces runtime when compared to brushed, they simply draw more from the battery. Try to get a hi power NiMh, 4000 MAh +, the higher the better, Vapextech Batteries are great value and quality in my opinion. The TL01 has good handling at stock level, but if you run a high power brushless sytem you may also want to get better shocks as the ride characteristics will change dramatically, for example, if the car is dropping at the rear under acceleration it cannot then deal with bumps or changes in direction, its similar for the front. And you will be making maneauvers at a greater rate of speed than when you had the standard setup, so the car will be hitting turns, jumps and obstacles much faster than before! There may be a tutorial or subscribers description on how to improve the handing in specific ways on here, have a search around the site. You can do it on a budget, but if you can stretch to a few quid you can make it a really good car that you will enjoy using alot. Hope it helps, Ben
  15. Well, turns out the issue was too many washers inside the motor, it was getting jammed up! Works a treat now, punches my Monster Beetle along nicely. Thanks for the advice guys.
  16. Hey y'all. EB kindly traded me a set of CRP adjustable motor mounts for my various MB's, but I am not quite sure how they fit. Could anyone shed a little light on the procedure? A picture of the instructions would be great. I will have to source the screws and other fittings as I only have the Fibreglass plates. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Ben
  17. Is it an issue with the servo mount or the servo horn? If its the servo mount maybe you could try using a 3mm machine screw straight through the servo mount hole and the mounting bars (may need drillling out), with a nut on the underside, if the rear adjustable mounting bar is loose try shimming it with some very thin plastic card. If the servo horn itself is loose you could check you still have the thick plastic washer uder the screw that holds the horn on, if not find a metal or plastic replacement. Or maybe the thread inside the splined gear that you screw it into is stripped. I have 5 ORV chassis and dont have a single problem with any of them (in respect to servo issues only! lol) but the steering does take some punishment on these, as the wheels are heavy and wide they put alot of leverage on the steering servo. I regularly check it both while running and after. Hope some of this turns out helpful. Ben
  18. Waaa Haaaa Haaaaa Haaaaaa! Oh yeah, check this Bad Boy! Picked up some Rear wheel adapters from Cliff, cheers mate. This will either rip up the beach Royal Stylee, or it will be a nightmare of unweildy proportions, taking bets now. But you gotta admit, its abeauty.
  19. Well, looks like I have got the go ahead. I have even been given the choice of two plots! One is in a field with track access with the edge of the nearest housing about 300 meters away, maybe not the best for Nitros, the other is at the back of his yard, which has great access, room for a shed, and is more secure. So the long and the short is, I am going to form a club based at the track. Yay. Anyone in and around the region is most welcome to get involved. I have a few pairs of hands close by that will help get it going, but if anyone has any experience of this kinda thang please do get in touch. I am very excited about this, and will endeavor to make a track to suit as many as possible. The intention is to provide a well kept track for the bare minimum necessary. I am going to have to pay rent, so a small fee will have to be paid to use, but I am talking pennies. Its not going to be a money maker, but it has to pay for itself. I have some good track ideas, coming from a motor cross background has helped, and I am researching track designs currently. I have secured a spot that is effectively 30m x 30m to be sculpted, but I see no problem going bigger, and nor does he. I want the track to be open to all comers, and also be able to accomodate race meets. If ya wanna get involved, have any advice, or wanna know anything get in touch. The track is going to be in Crewkerne, Somerset, 25 miles from M5 Taunton, 10 miles from Yeovil. Train station link from Exeter. Cheers y'all, Ben
  20. I have searched the net for the steel pinion you speak of, and the shock tower upgrades, but cannot find them. Can you point me in the right direction?

  22. Hi guys and gals. Can anyone advise on a good brushed motor upgrade for the F-150 Race Truck #58161. I am thinking about the Superstock range possibly, but which one? I want grunt really, torque, I dont go crazy speeds, but better than stock would be good, as my off-roading is on varied terrain, some open, some rough n dirty, GGGrrrr. Also looking for any actual upgrades for the suspension, not "looks better" types, only "actual improvement in handling" type upgrades, but as this is in the Electrical thread I will look elsewhere, pointers still gratefully received.
  23. (I have also included this in the Somerset Autumn Meet thread) Right then folks. Before I go set it up, are there any people here interested in a bash at a site in Crewkerne? I have been talking to a chap that has some land that doesn't get used, I am tentatively working towards seeing if he'll let me use his digger to make a off road dirt track. The weather has been tops lately, so it should be dry dirt. The site is on the North end of Crewkerne, which is 10 miles west of Yeovil. I usually hit he local beaches with my scorcher and Monster beetls, but if poeple are up for it I will sort a track out. There is a very good chance of him saying yes, he's a nice chap, and I reckon nitro's will be ok, but I am really hoping to attract some more Tamiya cars, old and new. Essentialll I am inspired by the Short Course tracks I see online, not that I have a Short Course truck, yet! To go a step further I am keen on starting a club, loose and fun, with the track as a base. Regular sunny meets, new faces etc.........Any takers? I dont want to step on toes or anything, and if anyone has already done this kind of thing around here pleeeeease tell me as I will join, but my point is that there is no local off road track, if there is I cant find it. Let me know folks, I will get straight on with it if there are takers. With a bit of help a track could be carved within a couple of weeks!
