Also found a Hitec 645MG for £25 in the sale at Wheelspin Models if anyone wants a hi torque servo for a bargain price. These are 9.6kg/cm so will be more than capable for any application. I run 1 of these for throttle & brakes in my FG & they are excellent VFM & very durable.

Thanks for the response guys. Maybe it was just bad luck with our servo breaking. The splined output shaft broke clean in half when my son crashed it into the wood shed. Ive never seen that happen before
Ive seen a HPI SF-20 servo for £23 - this gives 6.6kg/cm @6v so is more than enough but I have an old futaba servo to bang in 1st so will see how it goes with that. And when I say old I mean OLD!! It was the steering servo in my original Hotshot in the 80's!!!! -
I saw this question when I was searching the section yesterday but cant find it now!
What is the best steering servo for the LB? The futaba that I put in it broke in a crash. Do I need a metal geared one?
I have a 5th scale FG & I been tempted to get the same hitec mg servo & make it fit. This would take a proper beating! What do you recommend?

If you have broken the coils springs in the pivot blocks you have over tightened the screw that holds them in place and pinched the spring to the last coil.
I've never broken one and have a 5700Kv MambaMax on Li-Po punching on them (standing backflip amounts of power).
Add a small tube over the screw to give the spring something to pivot on and you will never break another. This shows where to add the tube so the screw cannot be overtightened and pinch the spring:

Interesting idea Mark. Do you do jumps with it & give it a decent bashing? My son wont be killing his by any stretch of the imagination but the 1st springs broke cos we built a small ramp in the garden. I think I will try it before I go for the 3rd shock idea. I like simple fixes!!

I bought my son a Lunchbox for his birthday & after the first outing both the springs for the trailing arm setup broke. I dont want to replace with the same cos they will probably end up broken after a few jumps as well. Anybody got any alternatives? I was thinking of getting my mate to knock up some heavy duty 1s at his works or is there a better solution?

Im the same bud. Would rather buy something decent once rather than keep replacing on the cheap.
