  1. I'm now sorted I bought a whole c sheet off wheeler dealer. My resto project is 100% tamiya vintage parts even have new old stock mirrors and indicators not cutting any corners by using repro decals. Thanks for all your help
  2. Thanks but I'm after authentic tamiya from 1980's as the other decals are original
  3. Hi, Just restored my sand scorcher to box art and to finish it off I'm using some old vintage decals unfortunatly I only have one 506 decal for the doors does anyone have a spare I could buy. Thanks Lee
  4. Yee Haaa just scored some brand new original mirrors and indicators on ebay for £50. Gonna look nice on my scorcher i'm restoring, its taken a while to get them at a fairly reasonable price, I thought I'd got my hands on some original mirrors yesterday when I bought a complete car off ebay but when it turned up there were no mirrors in the box. Turns out the poor bloke had tried selling it in the paper previously and some guy helped himself to the mirrors whilst having a look in the box and turning it down saying he wanted a mk1 and this was a mk2. Felt sorry for the guy as they were worth a lot of cash as we know , I ended up returning the car to him as I only really wanted the mirrors and the price I bid reflected this.
  5. I missed out on these original decals which sold for less than the repros cost someone got a bargain ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Must be a ressesion
  6. Thanks for that Wrecked. Don't want to make the holes in the shell bigger as you say it would be a shame to alter an original shell, so I'll go with the repros and paint them chrome. At least I can use rere for the other stuff, wasn't sure if the indicators were the same as the original parts. Do you know if the driver is the same. Lee
  7. Hi, I'm restoring a vintage sand scorcher at the mo to box art and can't decide what to do about replacing the missing small body parts and chrome parts such as the mirrors, wipers, indicators and exhaust. Shall I go for some repro parts or the re-release stuff. will the new stuff fit and look ok or do I go for the repro stuff that should fit but will need in some cases painting chrome. Anyone else done this what do you think would look best. I did look into buying new original but the prices are silly money so not an option. Lee
  8. Hi, Anyone have a ford ranger shell they want to sell, unpainted and complete would be prefered or a whole car if you have one for sale. PM me please. Lee
  9. Just bought a cheap shell on ebay to run, I'm gonna stay away from running it near cars or anything solid that can do damage. I felt sick when I heard the thud and couldn't bear to look when I pulled it out. I had a go with the super glue and it don't look too bad but I know its there which is going to drive me mad. I have a few old chassis so I may try and coble something together using old and 2010 parts to make a runner to have some fun with.
  10. Decided to retire my mk1 rough rider to the shelf after breaking the roof wedging it under my slammed beetle These cars are so much fun I couldn't help but drive it and deep down I knew it would end like this I'm sure I'm not the first.
  11. To finishing off my sandrover project I need both front and rear wheels with tyres and also the rear wire bumper. Cheers Lee
  12. Has anyone else notice'd that a seller from thailand has sold the same ford ranger shell at least 3 times now on ebay. How can this be
  13. Thanks for all your replies The link to the hacked scorchers have given me some good ideas of what to do with my scorcher shell once I've cleaned up the previous attempt of hacking by making the wings more symetrical and the edges smoother. Some nice examples there, makes my old hacked shell not seem so tragic though I did feel like Dan and punching whoever did it in the gutts . Interesting offer of your hacked shell redzone I did think of trying to find someone else with a hacked shell and grafting on the wings but not sure if that would work, I'm located in London by the way. Lee
  14. Hi Folks, I've got an original sandscorcher and the wings have unfortunatly been hacked by the previous owner. I'm not sure what to do with it, the chassis is in excellent condition no cracks to radio box and all the parts are there, the shell has the glass, nose cone, windscreen, door handles, reg plate, lights and mirrors. The rear wings have been trimmed above the rear lights and the front wings have also been trimmed. I'm going to strip the paint off it and repair the nose as it's cracked, can anything be done about the wings though. I did consider buying a new 2010 shell and running it or maybe customising the old body . Any ideas got any pics of scorchers with hacked wings. Lee
  15. I spent a while looking for the rear body clips for my sand rover then suddenly a lot of them turned up on ebay and I bought 2 sets. I'm now after the rear tyres un worn and without splits which do turn up every now and then but they do go for big money, cheaper to buy tyres for my real beetle its crazy but what can you do.
