  1. Hi All, thanks for a great days bashing, good spot you fella's have there. Caddy - your hilux's were spot on ! very nice work. Great to get out and meet some new members and thrash the cars too ! stripped the Hotshot last night to find out what gave up - the centre propshaft had come loose on the spoke shaft after all that !! both gearboxes are fine so may leave them as is for now. Gave me a chance to do some cleaning though....... cheers Mark
  2. Hi guys, are still meeting this saturday ? if so when and where do i need to get to ? Is it near to where you park or do you need to carry stuff ? cheers Mark
  3. Hi there, I could be tempted for that date as I'm only in Hereford - close enough ! what kind of stuff do you run ? would a well powered Hotshot cope with it ? cheers Mark
  4. OK Folks, back online now 8-) re dates I've been through all the postings here and it looks as though everyone can make SUNDAY 1 JUNE. How does that suit you ? post replies on here and we can hopefully agree a date that's good for everyone. I've been in touch with the Importers re the Tamtech Hotshot chassis and they've had to order it from Japan - may take 6-8 weeks though Not got anything that's waterproof at the mo, so looks like I've got a bit to do - better buy some balloons......... Hope your backs better soon Steve.
  5. Count me in ! Dates avalable as follows (basically alternate weekends) May 3,4,17,18,31 June 1,14,15,28,29 postin this from work as my pc is still in quarantine Following the Bristol bash I had a look at my TT Gear Hotshot last nite - not good news. The chassis has snapped at the front after a bit of a head on - no problem i thought i'll just order a new one. WRONG !. Check this out - the chassis is not avalable as a spare part from what i can see !!! Hmm where to go from here ? buy a new kit ? bit expensive me thinks.
  6. Thanks to all for a great days bashing, and I only managed to break two cars !! Sorry I haven't posted earlier, but logged on sunday evening to discover the biggest nastiest highjacking trojan virus was onboard !!!! has taken me till now to get pc runnin again Steve - that Emaxx was "wicked". It's all your fault and yes, i've already been looking at them on ebay.......... might have to sell some other toys to fund it though. Great day out and can't wait for the next. If I can make it a beach bash sounds good to me. All in all, thanks to everyone for a great day and was good to meet some faces. Off to work on a BL holiday buggy......
  7. I should be there too. Runners so far are :- hotshot (old one !) wild one Pajero Lancia rally (if i can put it back together after breaking it tonight!) holiday buggy buggy champ and maybe an F1 if i can find some radio gear for it I'm comin from Hereford so any clues as to where exactly you will all be would be appreciated. Hope to see you sun, Mark
  8. Hi All, hope another one's OK ! Cos it looks like I may be on for that date too !!! Betr get busy fixin some stuff up to run. Is there a preferred location yet ?
  9. Hi there, If I can make it I'm up for it depending on dates etc. Would be good to meet some members and can definately do 12/13 and 26/27. cheers Mark
  10. That Looks wicked with the buggy Champ tyres on it !!! Interesting to hear that you've had problems with the drive shafts - I noticed they were cheaper versions and wondered whether they would be problematic. So far I've only run mine off road in low traction conditions (I'm running a mamber setup too - 8kv mamba motor and 6 cell Integy 1400mah cells) but have not had any problems, although it just doesn't stop wheel spinning !! I've changed the steering links for normal ball joints too and noticed a big difference. The 3racing shocks are great value for money at 10 a set - i've got a set on my buggy champ and they work great. Gearedl diffs are supposed to be able to handle more power than ball diffs so I thought they would be good in the GB-03. I've had to really lock up the ball diff in the buggy champ to get it not to slip (that also runs the same mamba setup) on acceleration. Overall the GB-03 is seriously good fun for the money (especially if it comes from Champ International and you get past Customs - 8-) ) - I just wish they would do a supershot body for it as well !!!!!
  11. Hi there, has anyone out there tried this Lipoly battery in a buggy ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trakpower-Lithium-Po...1QQcmdZViewItem Would be interested to know how it performs alongside NiMh's. Bit costly though.... cheers Mark
  12. Hi, Don't give up on the Wild One !! If you just want to run something a bit faster you can shim out the gearbox as people have suggested. You can also mount lots of other gearboxes in that space fairly easily - Biggus's Falcon etc - I've gone for the Re-re Frog gearbox as they are readily avalable and fit nicely - check out the following link :- http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...765&id=1846 Good Luck ! Mark
  13. My advice would be "do not use a Lipo battery with the TEU101BK speed controller. The following may be of interest to you:- 1) Lipo batteries are very sensitive to their voltage during applications and charging. For example a lipo cell is 3.6volts. If the cell reaches over 4.2 volts during charging it WILL EXPLODE. This has happening countless times and has been well documented in the model press. The reason why you cannot use it with the Tamiys speed controller is because the speed controller has no facility to ensure that the battery voltage does not go too low. If it does the battery will melt, and probably burst into flames. Trust me on this one - it happens ! When Lipo's first came out i shoved one into a fox and ran it untill it went flat, with a normal electronic speed controller. The result was that it suddenly emmitted thick smoke, melted all the soldered connectors off(deans connectors), burnt the speed controller out and completely melted the chassis of the fox. I was unable to touch any of it and just watched it go up ! Not Good. 2) It is not to say it wont work because it will, you just have no way of telling when the battery reaches its critical voltage. 3) Most modern Lipo batteries have balance leads which monitor the voltage of each cell during charging, and if one cell goes too high they cut the charge to that one cell to prevent problems. 4) If you want to use Lipo's get yourself a speed controller which is designed to work with them and has a Lipo battery voltage cut out - most brushless controllers have this facility. Hope this helps cheers BuggyMuncher
  14. Hi there, the hotshot re-re should handle brushless fine. I've been running an original Hotshot 1 with the Novak 5.5GTB for ages. Have also tried the Mtroniks Genesis Pro with success too. Don't go above 6 cell nicads though, otherwise it'll eat the gearboxes ! Check out my showroom for more details.....
  15. So it's official then - The Hotshot re-re is the same as the original with the exception of a few minor changes (centre prop shaft, dogbones and damper inners by the look of it) !!!!!! Checkout "Mint Vintage"'s posting for a couple of pics. Should be good to see lots of 'shots running again......
  16. Hi Chris I did have a chat with you at the Kiddy meet over the wide chasis plates etc but by that time had already spent alot !! On the subject of the SRB diff I have NODIS adjustable slip diff which was made for the scorpion. Looking at it the pressure plates may well be small enouh to fit inside the outer ring diameter of the SRB bottom gear - and hence be good for a straight copy. The NODIS diffs of that time all had the bottom gear made from Tuffnell (I think ?) instead of brass. You would be welcome to borry the NODIS diff for a while to take some dimensions etc from it ? - i've been looking for a diff for my scorcher runner for a while and had been thinking along the same lines as yourself although I only have access to a small hobbymat lathe. Let me know what you think and if you are interested I can send you some pics of it etc. Regards Mark
  17. Just wanted to add the same sort of thing - Big Thanks to Chris for organising the event. Hadn't been before so wasn't quite sure what to expect - needless to say I had the best time for ages. Weather was ace, got sun burnt during the day and frozen at night, broke most of my buggies (and fixed some of them for Sunday) and generally had a really good time thrashing around. Met some great people who made me very welcome and of course, spent far too much money..... Roll on K2K8......
  18. Thanks for that, lunchbox race it is then. Oh and up in the loft to see if the tent is still in one piece..... I assume some beer may help with the cold.........
  19. Hi folks, not been to the Kiddy meet before so after a bit of advice as to which "race" to enter a Mitsubishi Pajero(58044) into ? any ideas ? the WW race ? or just vintage 2wd ? Also I only live about an hour or so from the track but was considering doing the camping thing just to be there all weekend ! Any comments from previous experience ?.... hope to see you all there..just need to get all the cars ready..... cheers
  20. I might be up for the XR311/Cheetah "race" - I'll have to dig out my Xr311 resto project and see what state it's in !!
  21. Hmm, thanks for the replies folks - sounds like I need my good old set of neary bald oval blocks then !! that should ensure a good laugh is had all round.....
  22. I'm hoping to get to the spring drive this year for the first time - anyone got any suggestions as to what tyres to use ? I'll be running old stuff like Hotshot / wild one / SR's etc ( Don't suppose it'll make much difference anyway but it mught just help a bit with the brushless Hotshot !! ) cheers, hope to see you there....
  23. Good Stuff !! I'm mad on Hotshots so have a Novak 5.5 GTB brushless powered one. Had to rebuild the transmissions VERY carefully to take the grunt but it is unstoppable off road and will climb anything !! check out the link for some pics. Dont know how fast it is but it's pretty quick on road. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...335&id=1846 Also checkout the fox runner with a trinity 12x2 which screams to 41,000rpm - that's a bit of a laugh as well. This motor is now in a Wild One runner but the gearbox isn't as happy yet.... Also playing around with a Holiday Buggy - trying to see if I can get a different set of gears to fit into the chassis to make it a bit more easily maintainable with a more powerful motor. Trouble is there's not much point in going too far with these as the chassis/suspension just cant cope !!
  24. Check out my new built Vanquish if you're looking for one. Absolutely pristine !!! includes box, manual and unpainted driver. Item number 150060267987 Good Luck ! cheers Mark
  25. If you build the gearboxes carefully and insert shims to remove any excess play you will have no problems. I'm running a Hotshot 1 runner with a Novak 5.5 Brushless setup (see my showroom for details) which is seriously pokey and that's fine on original gears etc. It is true though that a modern buggy will be more durable and certainly cheaper to repair if you have a mishap !!!![] As for price I would say around £60 to £80 ?
