  1. Took some more updated photos of some of my cars for my showroom, pics to follow on No Comment Gallery thread
  2. I’ve learned that restoring older models is getting harder and harder, even small parts that are not available in Australia are almost impossible to buy due to global shipping fees
  3. First step of the rebuild has started, decided to replace the bushings with bearings, as the bushings from back then might even be worse that what Tamiya use. Cant progress any further as need the bearings to arrive. It’s a start at least. I’m keen to get this rebuilt as I’m rather excited to start my next project.
  4. @Re-Bugged Plaig Bearings is my go to Ken, Trev is a great bloke who supports a lot of raffles at RC Racing in this country. I will check out AU Miniature Bearings though
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, I will start with cleaning, then a light polish. Results will be posted in my Project Thread in the General Discussions section (When I start on the MX4)
  6. A little thing, but ordered bearings and stainless screws for current and upcoming projects
  7. OMG, what are you doing Man? Separate those things immediately, having 2 so close together you're just asking for trouble.
  8. I had a similar dilemma years ago with my TA02W Castrol Supra. I bought the kit then couldn’t decide whether to build or not. Ended up building it and it sits proudly on a shelf next to a TA02SW 40th Anniversary Porsche
  9. Hi Canadian friends. I’m looking at some rare Yokomo parts that are listed on eBay from a Canadian seller. The shipping through eBay is way over the top I feel, so was wondering if anyone may be able to help me out and look into forwarding them to me? If anyone can help, I will discuss further via PM Thanks in advance
  10. @MASAKRATOR those little 5 cell hump packs take up no more space that a 4 cell AA cage, they are designed as a direct replacement. You can also get a 7.4v 2S lipo that will fit, but that requires HV servos and of course the other charging and care protocols, but the 5 Cell NIMH is a direct replacement, something to consider IMO
  11. A couple of things, firstly, if you want to use that 4 x AA holder in your Nitrage, make sure you secure the batteries with a band or tape to ensure one doesnt dislodge while running, because if that happens you’ll have an instant runaway which is not a good thing. A smart charger should be able to charge those in the basket. Secondly, I would look for a hump RX pack which will have 5 cells and be more powerful to do the job of powering your servos and radio gear, something like this: *Edit - not sure why the image isnt displaying correctly IMG_0070.webp
  12. Back when I bought this car, the biggest bonus was the Green 480T Lemans that was fitted. I paid less for the car than what the motor was worth at the time, so however this turns out, It wont owe me anything, based on that, I might even treat the rebuild to a set of bearings
  13. Progress: Gears all cleaned, mostly in VGC, “dog bones” are a little worn, but will do the shelf duties job Larger plastic cleaned with Simple Green (Again parts aren't perfect but will do) Now I’ve owned this car for over 11 years without really looking too hard at it , so imagine my surprise when stripping it that it has 2 different coloured rear trailing arms, 1 black, 1 grey. (Assuming the black one is from an Icarus or Cosmo I guess). Might have to try painting them, along with the main chassis tub. It even still had a Nicad battery fitted And finally the body, after it going cloudy as mentioned earlier, I ended up painting the outside firstly with a PS paint to “Prime” the surface, then TS (Used what I had - Racing Blue) followed by stickers and clear coat. The clear coat seems to have affected the stickers which is a first for me . Once it’s hardened up I will look closer to see if they can flatten out better. Don't want to do anything yet as the whole thing could get ruined, and I’m not keen on forking out for a TBG body for this car. Its good from far, but far from good IMHO
  14. What’s the best way to restore carbon fibre. I’ve got a Yokomo MX-4 that needs a few parts and some restoration work, so just wondering whats the best method to bring the carbon up to a nice finish? Its not really scratched from what I’ve looked at so far, but may have some residue on it from ESC or RX in a previous life Pics aren't great but you get the idea
  15. Forgot to take pics but the car has been stripped with different parts in different cleaning solutions. There are a few issues with the car that may be hard to rectify without chasing down new parts which I’m not real keen on for this build. I have progressed on the body with paint on the outside, will let that harden, then sticker, then clear coat, should be progress tomorrow after work
  16. @yogi-bear It’s unlikely I’ll run it, I’ll build it up with the original MSC so it will just sit on the shelf. Exterior paint is definitely an option, Like I did on my “Wild Fox”
  17. So unfortunately and as I feared, the lexan has gone cloudy, not sure how this will turn out now, i think I’ll press on but will most likely need to paint it a dark colour I may even shoot the outside with flat clear
  18. Hi Chris @netsmithUK Can you please set me up for TCPhotos please
  19. Ok, had this thing for over 10 years I’m sure, decided I might give it a tidy up, the chassis is in very good condition, and wont need much work TBH, The body isn’t great, but instead of just getting a new one, think I’ll try and strip this and attempt to save it. Progress to follow
  20. Either set will fit fine, me and a mate built 2 at the same time, he used pre cut, i used non pre cut, they fit exactly the same
  21. Thanks @GTodd , there is detail on the rebuild in my project thread here:
  22. Probably obvious, does the kit come with a pinion? If not, is the pitch correct on the one you are using, between metric and imperial?
