LOL!!! I know what you mean about the size of the trailers, they are massive. I agree, I think the trailer is the best option when i have been recently looking at some mfc-01 videos on youtube, i dont know if it is just me because i think they kind of make the truck seem unrealistic. The main thing is that the sound is not the best and it seems a bit delayed if you know what i mean. What i will probably do later on when i save up some money is buy as servonaut unit as they sound sweet and imo add more realism than the mfc-01

Year if i were you id stick with the PS paint series because they are designed to 'flex' with the lexan body

Your swinging me towards the trailer option as i have been thinking about the fun i could have with a trailer on the back

Today the postman brought me a replacement pinion gear for my Scania R470 and Tamiya Polishing Compound to add the finishng touch to my Scania
-
Well I finally got round to taking some finished pictures of my truck after polishing and replacing that broken pinion gear Here it is:
-
I just realised after I took the gearbox out that the pinion gear was the wrong way around and i too think that is what caused the problem Thanks for the help anyway
-
Your welcome mate the cab doesn't come pre-painted so you have to spray it yourself Don't worry about the model being complex. Just follow the manual slowly and you should be ok. Tamiya manulas are very easy to follow
-
Thanks Mate It took a lot of shopping around to find it at that price
-
Thanks Im thinking of getting some soon
-
Well I have been waiting for one of these for a very long time now and finally got round to getting one Although this is my first ever Tamiya model build I thought that Id go for something a bit challenging, also my interest in trucks helped my decision I ordered it form rcmart.com for £220 and it came in 5 days from hong kong!!! Here it is: I then went out on ebay looked for a transmitter and found this (Futaba 4WD) which i bought for £100 Then construction started At the moment a MFC is too expensive so i will probably add it later even though it will be harder to fit Base Ladder Frame Front Suspension Rear Differential Differential Housing Rear Axle Complete Shift Rod Complete Assembled Gearbox Fuel Tanks, Gearbox and Coupler Fitted Coupler ESC Fenders, Front and Rear Arches, Rear Light Clusters and Wheels Fitted Front Step Plates Cab Painted Finished Cab There is only one thing left to do... ...get some finished pictures up I havent taken any yet because of my problem with the pinion gear, the truck has been stripped down and is waiting for its new pinion gear (Link Here) Ive ordered one the other day and should be arriving soon Also ordered some Tamiya #87070 Polishing Compound for the cab. Does anyone know if this is any good???

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! Firstly the problem with the servo was fixed by reinforcing the shift servo with another 2 screws. It can now easily shift from 1st all the way too third But to find the answer to the grinding problem it required me to take the gearbox out and carry out further inspection. What I found to be the problem was that the pinion gear could not be tightened to the flat of the motor shaft properly meaning that the motor shaft was just spinning and not moving the pinion gear. This meant that there was no grinding of the gears, it was just the sound of the motor spinning at high speed This is what the pinion gear look like after I took it out: Closer up: If you can see the thread in the gear has split meaning that the grub screw could not be tightened up properly Thanks for your help guys

newbie first biuld of a scania r470

Hi Should be fine As long as the control has manual trims (which it does) then you will be ok with the MFU -
I've detached the shift servo from the actual gearbox and the gearbox seems fine, the shift rod can change gear easily. I re-checked assembly of the gearbox again and all is ok, nothing wrong there I took off the casing of the gearbox and was running the motor, and what seems to be the problem is that the shift servo is not pulling the shift rod far enough to engage 1st gear, and what is stopping it from engaging 1st gear is the fact that the shift servo moves around Ill get some pics up shortly to show you what I think the problem is Another problem i have noticed whilst driving around is that when you use full throtle, the gearbox sounds like the gears are grinding slightly and there is no movement of the truck, so i can only start off slowly and gradually increase speed. Is this something that is normal or can't the gearbox handle full throtle starts??? Thanks (p.s.: will be shortly making a build thread)

I have recently started constructing my Scania R470 and have finished everything but the cab. I decided to do a test run before I finished the whole truck and have noticed that when i change to 1st gear the whole servo actually 'twists' which stops the servo from moving the shift rod into 1st. Just wanted to know if other people have come across this problem before and what solutions there are for this. I was thinking of wedging something in front of it to stop it from moving Also just a quick question. How loud are the 3 speed gearboxes supposed to be because i don't know whether or not the gearbox is supposed to sound the way mine does as it is louder than i expected, even though I have greased it up a lot. I looked at some videos on youtube and they seam quite loud aswell without the MFU Thanks Ryan

Is it really essential to use primer with the tamiya TS paints when spraying the cab???
-
Im about to spray the cab on my truck and don't know what to do on the inside of the cab should i spray it the body colour or black???

I was just looking at Tamiya CA Cnstant Cement and was wondering which one i need in the manual for the Scania R470 it says that you need instant cement for the tires and for a stage in gearbox assembely There are 2 instant cements #87091 which is gel type and #53339 which is for rubber tires Which one should i get??? or do i need both - one for tires and one for gearbox??? Thanks Ryan
