  1. Thanks for that, it sounds unusual to someone who's always used glue you actually put between two items you want to stick, that you put the pieces together then apply on the edge. I'm guessing its a strong joint..? I want to make some mods to a Sand Scorcher body, ie. need curved bits. I've been told submerge in hot water them bend, have you done this at all.. Forgot to mention, like the new website. Hopefully you'll be doing more SRB parts soon, Scorcher alloys will probably sell well at the moment...
  2. Can I say first, I love the garage theme your working on. Its given me ideas but nothing concrete yet... Can you tell how easy it is to use polyweld, how you apply it, is it instant, does it dry hard ie can it be sanded if excess squeezes out. Sorry to ask all the questions, but I've tried asking the ebay companies selling it but never got a reply..
  3. Very nice but it won't get in the all the corners of a Sand Scorcher gear box.....!!!! A tip for anyone thinking of polishing thier car, don't, it takes forever...
  4. I was thinking it could easily take weeks, hopefully I've started on the hardest piece (gearbox) thanks for the help..
  5. That is beautiful, well worth the effort...
  6. I'm trying to polish a new re re Scorcher, all the ali parts, The gearbox is a nightmare, The compound seems to leave black residue which sometimes doesn't want to come off... I think it will take me till 2012 and then I might be able to start actually building it... But its a case of I've started so I'll finish..
  7. Hi, Anyone got the answer to this...? I'm polishing all my aluminium parts on my latest project... never done this before.... bought a dremel and loads of different bits for it. Got the right compound bars/polish for ali. I've started on my first piece, its taking forever trying to get in all the little tiny corners, also whats the best/easiest way to remove the compound??? can it be soaked in something before a final polish..??? Any tips or advice is really welcome....
  8. Thanks for the advice, I've emailed them and had a moan about the value they must have put. They've asked to see a receipt for the Custom Tax (which I've paid, it was £54). They've said when they see it they will consider a contribution towards it. So fingers crossed, you never know... They said I should of asked them to down value, which OK if I'd been thinking is a good idea... I was so excited to be buying my second sand scorcher 29 years after the first, I wasn't thinking quickly..
  9. Oh dear..... I don't know what he declared item as, got off a guy on ebay.. Was going to use dinball who said he'd put value at $50, but was £40 dearer to buy. Sounds like I should have gone with him.. Tried contacting the royal mail, who said "nothing can be done until you recieve your letter sir" so now I'm waiting even longer... Thanks for the breakdown on the charges. I'd better sell something to help pay them.. cheers
  10. Can you believe it, I've not bought anything from Hong Kong in ages... But yep!! you guessed it. I bought a re re Sand Scorcher and my tracking information tells me it being held for charges to pay, Anyone Know what they might be???? obviously they need me to help pay for their next bonding day, paintballing at some expensive stately home... I'm supposed to wait for a letter but I'm trying to find a number I can call and pay over the phone...
  11. Mine's in customs now, tracking says "Pending customs inspection" that doesn't look. Its not the money so much, but the extra delay.... I want it now...
  12. Hi, With the re re of the Sand Scorcher this year, I wanted to try and design some new stingers / exhausts. Hopefully with the intention of small production, I've found most of the components I need but I'm still missing some type of perforated metal, ali or stainless steel would be best very thing as a tube or a sheet that I can bend.. Has anyone got any ideas where I can find, searched the net, everything is too thick or holes too big. there's a pic below for you to see the sort of thing I mean. Help or ideas welcome. THANKS
  13. Me too, brand new dremel for christmas, in antisipation of my SS2010, "Which I'm still waiting for ARRRRRRHHHH!!!! So thats 2 that will be completely polished, NICE!!! I'm in Essex does anyone know any clubs/tracks nearby. I can't find one... I'd love to race an SRB
  14. We're all as bad as each other, that's why we're on this site. For me its new box syndrome and building it and then building better. I got bit by the very infectious RC bug 30 years ago. Just as you start to get over it with distractions like, girls, women, marriage, kids it just creeps up on you and keeps on coming back. Eveytime its more and more expensive and you'll have bigger and better ideas, my new SS isn't even here yet and I've started thinking I need BC as well, coz they are bound to re-re the Super Champ next.... "Mmmm more spiky tyres"
  15. This link should take you to the Tamiya 101 site and show you the differences, between the original and MB shell. I've been told the MB shell is near enough identical to the New SS. Take a look and see what you think http://www.tamiya101.com/article_sand_scorcher_shells.asp
  16. No a bad idea, but my daughter wants me to a smarties theme SS, how can I say no to a cute 2 year old. (quite easily)
  17. Jammy G@*, but at the same time, thats great news. Get down there pick it up and get the pics on TC. I know there's lots on there but we need to see more. For all us people still waiting its good to see light at the end of the tunnel. And as far as I'm concerned Super Champ, will always be a part of the SRB family....
  18. I thought it was a fair punishment, but maybe everyone could just ask for whatever model want. He He !!
  19. Thats what I was worried about, mixing paint types. I'll have a look for the plastic primer. thanks for the advice..
  20. Thanks for the help, I've got Tamiya fine surface primer should I use that then car paint, or get car paint primer as well. I'm definately going to paint the inside, because I'm going try and build a rollcage and detailed interior.
  21. Now you've disclosed the SRB code to the world you will to buy us all the latest SRB kit as punishment, that's everybody at TC Steve
  22. I'm want to paint my new buggy champ with a very very pale blue, Tamiya TS paints aren't light enough. Does anyone know what other paints adhere well to the ABS shells All advice welcome Steve
  23. Cheers Mark, so which would you buy, do any give longer run times than other, or charge better...?
  24. Funny you should mention batteries, any thoughts on what battery would be best for a new SS. I've been out of RC for a few years, just getting back into it. Lipo?? is that better?
