  1. Stellamodels even sold the Super Clodbuster for 150$ a few years ago.
  2. Yes, that Hotshot was built by Grahoo, or civicferio as he is called on youtube. He also built a 4wd Hornet, a Grasshopper with independent suspension and a scratchbuilt FF buggy.
  3. A fantastic rc model of my all time favourite car. If I remember correctly (don't take my word for it) it was based on a 1968 model. The front suspension even has the ball joints mounted almost the same way as the real one. It would be exciting to see a perfectly scale steering setup. And off course see it being driven. After all the beetles with the torsion beam front end has some of the same bump steer issues as the Hotshot. As for rack and pinion steering, the 1303 beetles from 1975 and up has rack and pinion. But it also has a completely different front suspension with mc.pherson struts. But that would also be an interesting SRB procect.
  4. That will work out just fine. But if you want to change the esc, I think the mtroniks esc's are a good choice. They are water resistant and inexpensive.
  5. You have a mechanic speed controller. If it isn't set to the neutral position, your tires will spin when you turn on the power. I did this with a Clodbuster inside the living room a few years back. Not recommended.
  6. Technically and performance wise, the Blackfoot Extreme is the better car.
  7. I saw a picture of a Hornet with a Fire Dragon body once. I think it looked quite good.
  8. That is correct. Just hook the servo lead, and the ESC lead to the receiver and away you go.
  9. Grahoo's amazing FWD buggy: http://tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?c...1774&id=418
  10. Or if you happen to have a TLT battery to spare, it just fits transversally inside the radiobox.
  11. Sounds like a great project. How about a mini-pickup body? http://www.m-chassis.com/bodies.html

  13. Congratulations with the car. As for spare parts, ebay is your friend. And there's always people on this site who has the parts you need.
  14. Congratulations on a great find! Must be a joy to restore a car like that. As for alternate paint schemes from Tamiya themselves, the closest we can get is maybe the light blue one in the old commercial.
