  1. Checking in, san Diego here... It's lonely here!
  2. Thanks for the information! I'd be more than happy to get an alloy part, but karooha MB's info is all gone... looks like he abandoned ship! Just to be clear, I only need the spacer for the Monster Beetle/ Black Foot/ Mud Blaster, and the motor cover on the other side? Its strange that there are none on ebay.. in the U.S. anyway.
  3. This auction says it includes a motor plate, but it doesn't look like the part in the instructions edit Do I need that as well?
  4. Hello I'm looking for some parts to mount the motor in my new/old MB. I know I need the motor cover, that I can find here: And according to page 15 of this Manuel, I need park K2 www.wheelsacademy.info/rc/tamiyapdf/TamVeh114.pdf Is this all I need? I CANNOT find this k2 part or tree anywhere. any help? This is how it sits
  5. I see one problem, I tried to reset the main site password and got this: Your password has not instantly been sent because: - Your email address has been recognized but your account has not yet been cleared can someone please approve my account so I can create a showroom? subgraphic@yahoo.com
  6. Hello- when I go to buy a subscription, It actually shows no options (no radio buttons) at all. Ive tried in firefox and IE. can someone please help? Thanks! this pic is what I see:
  7. Won a shelf queen off of the bay for very cheap. No motor, no electronics, but its a never been used chassis. Luckily it has some nice bumpers and a rear sway already installed. It has a poorly painted MB body on it, aftermarket shocks, and 2 different kinds of wheels. Is there any way to tell if it was a MB or black foot originally? Question # 2: There is a clear thin oil leaking from one of the rubber boots- did this line of tamiyas require that or is it something the original owner did? Its MUCH thinner than the reg tamiya grease Ive used on my SS project. Should I clean and rebuild the gearbox before I put the motor in?
  8. Thank you! Along with the suspension setup, and the body details, I need to fiddle with the EXPO.. the ECU punch level is down already. Great advice! On a side note, Im going to strip, respray and detail the body... then buy a lexan shell to use when I'm running it
  9. So I bought a re Sand Scorcher as my intro back into RC. Last Car I had was a new hornet and I had a) no money no mechanical ability and c) no internet. Friend had frogs, grasshoppers ect... all fun. So I get my SS and realize that things seemed faster back then and that I would mod it up. I decided to get an aluminum Chassis that was wider so I could run a lipo battery down the center with the ESC and receiver on each side. I found a guy on ebay who was making nice ones with roll bars and bought it. I got some aliminum servo mounts and fitted it for direct drive. Next I bought an EZ-run 380 brushless motor and a 60A ECU to keep things cool. The motor fits great and the motor cover needs a small notch cut out to fit the 3 wires. Then I replaced the shocks with 3racing Tamtech coilovers with stock tamiya oil, and added a shock tower cross brace. Then to keep things better planted I added a set of brat wheels and tires. I sat back and marveled that my plan worked out and seemed pretty solid. You know what? I don't like it so much. I was warned by a friend of mine, who is quite a lot further in the hobby than I am, not to mod the SS or it would lose its charm - and he was dead on. The car is WAY to fast for itself, and feathering the throttle isn't always fun when you're bashing only. The car rolls very quickly at any real speed and I have already scraped up the body just on slow shake down runs. I suppose that with some suspension/ tire tweaking I can get it more stable and thus more fun. I also decided to take the radio box, chassis and other parts I didn't use and restore an older scorcher, so I can have the best of both worlds but that's after I restore an old monster beetle. I wont be modding it The good news is that with the ECU programed to the softest punch setting, the gears are perfect after 5 or 6 30min bashing's and the rest of the car is holding up stellar-ly. Here are some pics: Thanks for the help with all of the nooby questions I have posted here!
  10. All right- I got them all lined up and bolted together- I feel like a dolt now for not seeing those notches. I hope I can contribute something to this forum one day when Im not so green Thanks again!
  11. Thanks guys- I hadn't actually noticed the alignment notches.. I'll look for them now!
  12. Hi all- so I bought a set of brat wheels and tires from ebay, as well as bags a,b and c for the screws, bolts and other misc. parts. The only problem is the screws aren't long enough to make it through the wheels, so I cannot finish them. Am I building them wrong? Is this common? where am I? I remember they were barely long enough to make it through the SS wheels I just made. Any tips?
