Wanted : Tamiya BigWig front gearbox support!
THE HP FREAK replied to THE HP FREAK's topic in Trade Archive
HI!... Don't want to make them. I'm building a Bigwig with after market hop ups for the time period. I need these to be original vintage ones. -
HI!... I'm looking for a gearbox support for a Tamiya BigWig. Other models that would also fit would be Hotshot, Hotshot II, Supershot. It's basically a thin steel support that goes between the front control arm pins to prevent the gearbox from cracking on a bad front impact. It looks like this :

Hotshot II converted back to Hotshot 1

HI!... If your going to run it in dirt then I would suggest the 13T. If your mostly going to bash it on concrete/asphalt then I would go 15T with the TG motor. I 2nd the gesture to run a 8.4V battery in it. I run a 7.4v LiPo and 5.5T/6000KV brushless in my all aluminum Bigwig with a 19T pinion. It's a pure tarmac basher though. I've run a 11.1V Lipo through it a few times it's just insane and goes over 60MPH. LOL! -

HI!... Are you going to be running a LiPo or NiMh battery? -
HI!... So has anyone come up with a stronger, better designed diff for these yet? I run BL, and lipo in mine and all the diffs fall apart in short time. Any after market diffs for these? A spool would be awesome. As soon as I get my lathe I think I'm going to make a few for my cars. That's the only reason I shelved my 3. More time spent fixing them then driving them.

HI!... The same thing could be said when I took a Chevy 350 block and put it next to my garage and put 8 flowers in the cylinders. lol! Great flower pot. I finally found something a Chevy is good for! lol!

HI!... I have a battery tray/skid plate available. If your going to make this a runner than this one is perfect. It's got scratches on the bottom from being on a runner. PM if your interested. I up for trades if you have anything I'm interested in. Neal. -

O.k I also picked up this RC10 sprinter car for $40. Don't know if I'm going to restore it or part it out for other projects I'm currently building. It's all there and in fair condition. Even got the car stand in the deal. lol! Now the deal of the day was this small tackle box sitting over by the tire/wheel display. It wasn't there the last time I was in there. I pop it open and just went WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Everything in the box is new. Most of the wheels are all CNC'ed aluminum. Got this for $25! Yup $25! I will be picking up the car and wheel box next weekend. I'll take better pics then and post them up. Oh and this came in the mail. A NIP Tamiya Blackfoot sunroof cover : -

HI!... Here is my fully restored Hotshot II. You can see what parts you need. Her's my build thread : http://www.tamiyabase.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=33&id=584&Itemid=476 -
HI!... I run black ABS 4x4 fence post tops (caps) from Home Depot. For under $2 a piece. I then run them through my table saw to make them low profile. Then I add sticky sided black felt to the top and botton so I don't scratch the bottom of my cars or my wood shelves.

HI!... Mine would be better, and is. lol!

HI!... Well you can see how I feel about shelf queen's... lol!

Tamiya BigWig #4 "Shadow Edition"
THE HP FREAK replied to THE HP FREAK's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
HI!... It will be a shelf queen. If you look closely you will see the Moon craft wheels are not in prime condition. They have scratches all over them. Hence why I dyed them black. I actually have a NIP set coming next week and have 3 sets here at home. -
Tamiya BigWig #4 "Shadow Edition"
THE HP FREAK replied to THE HP FREAK's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Well I worked on BigWig #4 today. Got a set of 4 new black shock springs installed. Also NIP lower control arms and one upper. Found out it was cracked after I put some screws into it. Got the steering done and front tires on. I glass beaded the room plate and the NIP YOU-G aluminum rear shock tower. They have been painted gloss black and drying. Just got to find some steering boots and figure out what I'm doing for decals. Then I have to order 3-4 BigWig bodies from *****. -

HI!... Yes the Holiday Buggy will be getting a full restoration. It's just going to be a while. I got 5 other cars ahead of it that need to be restored 1st. It's so dirty in the pics due to I just got it from the hobby shop. -
HI!... O.k here's the 1980 Tamiya Holiday buggy I got also in that group deal. It looks all original. Most everything is there as far as I can tell minus the servo's/receiver/battery. Still has the original 380 motor and MSC. Bodies in pretty good shape. Think I'm going to strip the decals off and sand and re-paint it. Gears in the open gearbox seem fine, just dirty from the car sitting so long. I believe this car has been sitting on a shelf for over 25 years. The chassis has a small crack on the right side and the piece is flared out a bit. Looks like someone hit something head on at a good speed. Going to heat of the bend with the heat gun and bend it back in place. Then C/A glue it. Looks like it's only been driven maybe 20 times or so. As usual this one will get a full restoration and be put on the shelf.
