  1. spot on, didnt see that inner bearing. fitted . cheers guys
  2. right, ive ripped it apart and done the following 1.replaced the bearings on the rear wheels, there was a white plastic bush thingy. so thats 2 bearings for the rear 2.replaced the bearings on the front wheels, there was a white plastic bush thingy and a brass bush. so thats 4 bearings there. 3.i then opened the gear box. on the large gear i replaced 2 bearings, on the smaller gear i replaced a further 2 bearings, so thats 4 bearings there. 4. i have replaced and fitted 2 bearings on the gear with the drive shafts so thats 2 bearings there. so far i have used 12 bearings. on the kit i received from rcbearings, there is 14 bearings in the kit. i just cant find where the other 2 go. the two i have left are the same size as the bearings on the rear wheels. i have also applied super glue on the front tyre bead and fitted them. gave it a quick run on the street and it does seem to run better and the sound is alot higher pitched. any idea what ive missed.
  3. thanks for that. what i have done is i joined the broken bits using some araldite and fixed it in place using locking wire (im an ex aircraft techy from the raf). left it for a couple of days, then sniped the wiring. its working now but its only a temp fix. i have also bought a full set (14 bearings) off ebay but i dont know where each bearing go. can you shed any light.
  4. hi, sorry to be a pain guys but an extreme noob here. i ve aquired an old tamiya rc car (ff01 ford modeo touring car) that needs some tlc. it needs new knuckles and tyres. the model itself is about 15years old. everytime i drive the car the tyres come off the wheel, not totally but unseats from the bead. this is due to the rubber age. ive posted before on the forum and some helpful members pointed me in the right direction. i am a bit confused on tyres. i'll be mainly driving on tarmac and tarmac/loose gravel so i wanted some road tyres. my question is, are all the tamiya tyres a standard size??? i was advised to get some bearings which i bought off ebay (a full kit consisting of 14 bearings) 2x 1260 3x 850 2x 1510 7x 1150 where the badword do these bearings go in the car. if someone can help me i would appreciate it alot. cheers
  5. first let me apologise, i didnt know linking live auctions was against rules. secondly thanks for a the quick and fast replies guys. you guys truelly know what your talking about. with regards to my driving style. ive got no intention of going pro or racing. its just purely for leisure use for me and my son. will changing the bearing make such a difference????? i was thinking of the alloy knuckle arms and bearings. could you guys think of anything else i might need. thanks
  6. so what would people recommend these for about £16 http://www.asiatees.com/display.php?Tamiya...=TA01&id=81 or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tamiya-50705-TA03-TA...=item3ca42a5171 for about £8 if i bought either would i need anything else??? ie bearings or anything
  7. hi, if ive posted in the wrong section please forgive me. a little background first. about 15 years ago my brother in law had cancer, so while undergoing chemo therapy he was segrated in his room. to keep him occupied my inlaws bought him a ford mondeo tamiya ff01 car. http://www.ultimatetamiya.com/cars/ff01/ http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58143 since he built it he had only taken it out twice. since i have a growing 4 year old son my brother in law gave it to him with the radio gear too. it was in a right state, as in proper dusty and needed re-lubing as it was under his bed for 15years!!!!!! the damage to the car was the brass ball joint thingy that had snapped. so i took it to domino's in leicester who cleaned, re-lubed and re-drill a new hole and re-aligned it. the very helpful chap also mentioned that due to the age the parts were very brittle!!!! i took it out and had a slight incident. the result being that blue thingy (sorry dont know what to call it) snapped. i super glued it and after it dried and tried to screw it back in and the crack reappeared. so this time i used some stronger glue (araldite) hoping it will stay in place. i have attached some pics showing the crack. you can see the highline crack ive pointed with a skewer. as you may have gathered i am a real novice and dont know much. finally my questions, can i replace these blue bits for genuine ones or even better can i replace it with aftermarket ones? also the tyres are quite badly cracked on the sidewalls and need replacing. are the tyre size standard and what tyres should i replace them with for driving on tarmac and tarmac/loose-gravel? any help given will be appreciated big time. thanks
